I think the question that needs to be asked about this verse is whether or not God considers intercourse with a woman even within marriage an act of defilement. In what way are they virgins? Are they virgins within marriage or outside of it?

Well, the OP is asking if they are literally virgins, which makes no sense when considering the context. At face value, I would have to conclude that the mere act of intercourse with a woman even in marriage defiles me in the eyes of God, of which scripture states no such thing anywhere, new and old testament. So yes, this may be symbolic of something else. Them being virgins may have something to do with Christ's parable of the ten virgins.

They may be considered "virgins" in a sense of being seen as spotless from sin in the eyes of God because of the blood of the Lamb.

The number is stated two ways and what would you think, why, God has done this. Same number 144000 in number but written its different.

When God speaks to some they hear His voice but others may here thunder. The song would seem as if it would be things they should tell people. Kinda like a preacher but could be the most unlikely one too.

Then its obviously not referring to them literally being virgins, as if them not being literally virgins defiles them in Gods sight. If that be the case, then the vast majority of Christians are not saved.
