Top 1920's next 1930's next 1940's.@Josho These three pictures were taken from about the same spot, looking at the same direction.
When were they taken and where???
There are buildings that tell you where this is
The transport and people give a decent idea of when
Top 1920's next 1930's next 1940's.
Ye thats right, Flinder st station and a shot looking east at the Richmond area and the MCG.
But thats the easy part... Trying to figure out when they were taken is the tricky bit...
Take these next two pics, same places but in different eras
Flinders st station again but look at the transport and people.
The picture was taken decades before the one above... When???
Event... VFL grand final
Venue... Melbourne cricket ground
Date... ???
1 point for guessing location and 1 point for guessing the decade
So u have 2 points out of a possible 4 atm...
Hmmmm, the first pic is in the 1930s I am guessing, after the great depression maybe.
The MCG is looking a bit more developed in this picture, I will guess 1950s for that.
Ok from the start...
Flinders st train station... 1950
Looking east over the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Richmond... 1930
Flinders st train station... 1920's
VFL grand final in 1970
Lolz what have we learnt from this? Melbourne City has been a rat race for 100 years
Here's a little of Kiwi history... My hometown 20 years before I was born.
Melbourne is indeed a rat race. I don't like her city life, i don't like her concrete jungle or her modern style buildings, i don't like her politicians and systems, i don't like her weather or her roads...
So what have I leant recently...
I learnt that despite having so many things to hate about her i actually loved this city.
I learnt that you don't know what u have until its gone.
I learnt that millions and millions of people put their blood, sweat and tears into this town.
I learnt that a huge part of me was in that old town, in all the buildings that i helped build and maintain
I learnt that the town is gone and she's never coming back.
I learnt that Melbourne was family, seeing it now is akin to seeing the corpse of a loved one at their funeral.
I learnt that she isn't breathing, she has no heartbeat, no spirit and no soul.
I learnt that no one cares about the working class who actually built this city and struggle to get by.
I learnt that no one cares about this city, the city that i was born and raised in, the city called Melbourne...
Goodbye Old Melbourne... I couldn't stop your killing...
Goodbye Old Melbourne... You'll be remembered always, God willing...
Rest in peace Old Melbourne... No more time and energy...
Rest in peace Old Melbourne... Thanks for all the memories...
Yep, the ground shook in anticipation of my coming... Seriously though, about a third of what is now Napier was once lagoon. The land rose about 12 feet in places and drained the swamp. Maybe that's what Trump needs.Ok mate im tuned in...
There was no war in Oz or NZ so im guessing your town was destroyed in an earthquake...
The old 1800s buildings and homes are very nice though, I am glad that they preserved some history, of course same goes for the old buildings around the Golden Triangle, I like the old gold rush buildings.
This is probably the most far out building in Melbourne at the moment
That must be pretty new, not sure if I have seen that one in person before.
I have seen that a couple of times. It's weird. I have never seen such poor building technique. Must be a strange feeling going up in the lifts and suddenly go sideways and have everyone sliding to the lower side of the lift. It's been open for almost 3 years.
U can see it best from the Bolte bridge.
