I hadn't viewed that as a "most Christians" item.
But that script does begin with the word "Many". (noteworthy) Thanks.

How do we make sure we don't follow the herd?
Only Christ can answer that question.
What I mean by that is this:
If I were to say you need to do this or that or go to this church or be baptized by water or any number of things.....Well that would just be me offering my opinion.

If I witness to the truth, then it is Christ in me, The Word, that is drawing you to that truth, not the Beebster.

So, I will do my best here to witness to the truth:

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: (Rev 1:1)

Lots going on in that verse but I emphasized to help make the connection:

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Rev 19:10)

Are we fellowservants? - Christ in us.
Do we have the testimony of Jesus? - Christ in us.
Do we witness to one another? - Christ in us.
Is our witness true? - Christ in us.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)

What spirits are we to try?
Man's word vs. The Word of God (Including faulty translations).

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:62)

The spiritual Word of God vs. The doctrines of men.

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (2 Pet 1:20)

There are MANY in God's church who build doctrines on one verse alone, but we are told:

But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. (Mat 18:16)

We must always try those doctrines against the spiritual Word of God.

My trust is not in the doctrines of men. If it were, I would still attend an organized church.

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. (Rev 18:4)

You and I already share the invaluable spiritual truth that God will save all.
By trying the spirits and being drawn to the truth, we can God willing, meet up in the first resurrection.

Peace.

I have observed a state of superiority in Christians that is rather disturbing.

They view themselves as saved and somehow members of an elite group.

With that elitist attitude comes a level of pridefulness that is smug.

They like to look down on others and condemn them.

To be clear, it's not all Christians, but an alarmingly high percentage.

Has anyone else noticed this? What will happen to these folks at the judgement?

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee
and the other a tax collector.

Luke 18:10
Therefore, it is necessary to study the words in the Bible and be humble. No matter who you are facing, you should always be like this.
