Colossians 2:10,

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

You ever wonder why those that have the resources to do anything in life become alcoholic drug addicts. Famous people, celebrities and the like become addicted to something to try to help complete themselves. It is not just famous people it happens to the common man as well.

Our text says "we are complete in him." You know the trick to the scriptures is we have all these things that have happened to us but until it is revealed in you, fixed in you, you remain no different than the rest of the gentiles. Just because scripture says it's so, your mind must know it, have it worked out, come to conclusions, renewed, fixed in you by the HolySpirit that it is so.

You know why the same thing happens to Christians? Because of their mind, they have Christ in them and don't know it. Your Completion in spirit happened the moment Jesus laid a dead head on a dead shoulder. Your Completion in soul-mind will not happen untill you can catch up with the facts of everything you are now. The scriptures say "now you are" now it is" now you are sons of God" now you are, not going to be but now. You don't wait to be, you accept the facts as absulute, and move on, that simple. You might say "well I sure don't feel like a son," you will, just keep going, the HolySpirit will see to it in time, but in the mean time you accept what the scripture says until you get it in you as your life.

If we hem haw around, wishie washie, up and down, believing every wind of doctrine tossed to and fro, you never come to your completion, then we just don't move on, Ephesians 4:14,

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Trusting your father will reveal to you the completion in spirit, revealed to you in mind.

This reasoning takes the focus off of Christ and onto oneself. That is the problem with modern doctrines...and various winds of doctrine.

Colossians 2:10,

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

So then the emphasis should be on the "in Him" and not on the "you are"....

Sanctification is about location. It is about being in Him. We are exhorted to abide in Him...not assume we already are. And this requires a change of location...spiritual location.

It is God who translates us and takes us away in the Spirit. So our appeals must be to Him.

Ask, seek and knock. There is no technique of assuming or believing more that makes you more holy.

Does it say in the bible... "You have put on Christ"? Or does it exhort us to "Put on Christ"?

Hello @soul man,

It is lovely to see someone writing about our 'completeness' in Christ: for it means a lot to me. I will not add, or comment on what you have written: for with all of God's Word, the fact simply has to be acknowledged with thanksgiving, believed, and rejoiced in, in Christ Jesus our Lord. Not questioned or debated.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
.. Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
.... According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world,
...... that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:
........ Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself,
according to the good pleasure of His will,
.. To the praise of the glory of His grace,
.... wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In Whom we have redemption through His blood,
.. the forgiveness of sins,
.... according to the riches of His grace;
...... Wherein He hath abounded toward us ... ... '

(Ephesians 1:3-8)

Blessed be God!

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
.. Rooted and built up in Him,
.... and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught,
...... abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit,
.. after the tradition of men,
.... after the rudiments of the world,
...... and not after Christ.
........ For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
And
ye are complete in Him,
.. Which is the head of all principality and power:
.... In Whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands,
...... in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
........ Buried with Him in baptism,
.......... wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God,
............ Who hath raised Him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
.. hath He quickened together with Him,
.... having forgiven you all trespasses;
...... Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us,
........ which was contrary to us,
.......... and took it out of the way,
............ nailing it to his cross;
And having spoiled principalities and powers,
.. He made a shew of them openly,
.... triumphing over them in it.'

(Colossians 2:6-15)

Praise God!

Emptiness. All is vanity.

Your Completion in spirit happened the moment Jesus laid a dead head on a dead shoulder.

Not sure what you mean here? What did He do with the dead head and dead shoulders made complete in Him? Is it what was (is)called forth into the Light of Life?

'Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
.. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
.... When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.
Mortify
(reckon as dead) therefore your members which are upon the earth;
.. fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
.... For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
...... In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.'

(Colossians 3:2-7)

Hello @VictoryinJesus, @soul man,

Having been identified with Christ, in His death, burial, quickening, resurrection and ascension, then we are reckoned to be alive in a new sphere of life, aren't we. We now live in newness of life before the Father. Therefore we are to reckon ourselves to be 'dead' to the sin that so characterised the old man, and reckon ourselves to be alive in Christ.

So, @soul man, in referring to a 'dead head' and 'dead shoulders', do you have that in mind? That we are 'dead', our life being now 'hid with Christ in God'?

'Affection on things above' (Colossians 3.2); 'looking unto Jesus' (Hebrews 12.2)...:)

The end of Ephesians 1 also speaks of the Lord Jesus as head over all things to the church, which is His body, etc. Reinforcing the idea of completeness. :)

Interestingly, it turns out that "ye are" carries the greater emphasis than "in him", appearing first in word order. As this is how Koine Greek expresses empasis.

Both are of course exceedingly important. But clearly in this instance God is telling us something about us. We are complete in Him.

Sanctification is about location. It is about being in Him. We are exhorted to abide in Him...not assume we already are. And this requires a change of location...spiritual location.

No such thing.

We are either in Christ, or we are not, and if we are not, it means we are not new creations, and not justified from our sins.

Again, a false distinction, as if the redeemed were not.

Much love!

Sometimes phraseology can be vague...o_O
But God is never vague which is why Jesus said this:

"But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice." John 10:2-4

Are we hearing His voice when we read the Bible? If not then we are not hearing the Word of God!
