Gordon Clark (taught philosophy at Butler University in Indianapolis) said: In one way this is reminiscent of Genesis 2:7. As God breathed into Adam’s nostrils the breath or spirit of life, so too God sent forth his spirit into the animals.

Some people are afraid to say that animals have souls. They not only have souls, they are souls. Some people are afraid to say that animals have spirit. But Genesis 6:17 and 7:15, and Psalm 104:29, as well as Ecclesiastes 3:21 ascribe spirit to animals. Animals are souls. They are not just clay.

“Critters, there’s more than meats the eye” would agree there is more but maybe not in the way you see it. Doesn’t mean you are wrong but consider:

God speaks of beasts of the field, dogs that tear, fowls of the air...all speak of a group of people and how they will fulfill the word. As God tells us of trees and uses trees to teach us...trees do not have souls. But in the Word trees speak, trees clap, trees move and tell us of things to come.

spirit i can see, and i would like to see souls there, but right now i don't.
Matthew 10:28 Lexicon: "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell., the first on this list, suggests to me that animals cannot have souls, and i see a couple others at least below that one that i can't make fit into animals? But i guess essentially a common def of souls is what you are looking for here, right, and i've already been there i guess
    Bible Search: souls
1 Peter 3:20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God ...

... In the ark a few, that is eight souls, were delivered through water.
1 Peter 3:20 Lexicon: who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.

Don’t get me wrong...I love animals. I don’t know what the new creation will be like so I can’t say what will be there and what won’t. If there are animals...then I am certain the runt of the litter will not be pushed out to die. And I don’t think it will be the weak stragglers of a herd that become food. beast and survivial of the fittest shows us a lot about ourselves. All I’m saying is that ‘cattle’ is more than cattle in the word...

    Ezekiel 34:21-22
[21] Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad; [22] Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.

As wolf and the Lamb is more...: Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Romans 8 is such a tremendous chapter: I myself keep going back to it again and again.

So let's clarify this and its significance.

    1. Creature = κτίσις (ktisis) = all of creation.

    2. When Adam sinned, the whole of creation came under a curse.

    3. The curse of corruption, death, and decay (the Law of Entropy) is not according to God's plan.

    4. When the children of God have been liberated from the bondage of sin and death at the Resurrection/Rapture, all of creation will also be renewed and restored to perfection (after the New Heavens and the New Earth come into existence).

    5. No creature of God -- other than redeemed mankind (in the image of God and Christ) -- is destined for Heaven.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Gen 1:26)

1.4 κτίσιςc, εως f: the universe as the product of God’s activity in creation—‘universe, creation, what was made.’ τῇ γὰρ ματαιότητι ἡ κτίσις ὑπετάγη ‘for the creation was condemned to become worthless’ Ro 8:20.
The meaning of κτίσιςc might very well be treated as a simple derivative of the verb κτίζω ‘to create’ (42.35), since the reference is to the result of God’s creative act. However, in a number of contexts, the process of creation is no longer focal, and what is in focus is the total physical universe. In some languages the meaning may be best expressed as ‘the world and all that is in it’ or even ‘everything that exists.’

Well there must be something to consider since the Bible references the eternal Kingdom where the lion and the lamb lay together....they will not be prey and predators to each other.

You are always saying God doesn’t speak to His people anymore. On something’s I would agree but on God speaking to His people I wouldn’t agree. Unless I’m crazy because He speaks to me all the time. About critters...in the beginning of reading His word one night I read the gruesome bloody passages of slaughter and the congregation covered in blood. The slaughter of the Lamb and in reading God’s commands I went to bed that night in dread and fear asking God, “do I even want to know You?” Considering the Lamb...It was so barbaric and violent and brutal at God’s Commands. Honestly, I went to bed that night crying and wishing I would have never been born ...to never have been. That night, like many others He spoke as clear as day, “You have pity for a Lamb. It is My Son!” And then He said “I only use precious things to demonstrate My Son.” That was it. This morning, after all this time, from the beginning of hearing His voice, He gives this verse: Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

The word “precious” He seems to prefer.

He says in 1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

He has a voice and we are to hear His voice. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. —and He does exactly what He said He would do.
