You brought no biblical evidence against Friday through Sunday. all you did was raised the fact that much of the easter traditions used do have pagan origins.

Jesus died on Passover which was a Friday that year. Passover is called Pesach in Hebrew and is an 8 day celebration for teh 7 day feast of unleavened bread immediately follows Passover!

Jesus ate the Passover seder on thurs evening (which was considered Friday in Israel) and arrested afterwards in Gethsemane.
Now after sunrise the Pharisees brought Jesus before Pilate in the Gabbatha (court of Pilate) but would not go in because it would defile them
Jesus was always being inquired of by the Jews for a sign. He gave them one in reference to His death and resurrection. He told them that just like Jonas, He would be in the earth 3 days and 3 nights. In the Gospel of John Jesus again gave the Jews a sign by telling them if this temple was destroyed He would raise it up in 3 days. Jesus was referring to His body.
(Matthew 12:38) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Now despite the fact that Jesus Himself said that He would be in the grave 3 days and 3 nights, man has come up with the tradition of Jesus dying on Good Friday and rising early Sunday morning. In following this tradition, not only does one not observe one of God's Holy Days, which is the Passover, they directly deny the words of Jesus. It was Jesus who gave the sign of being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights. The tradition of Good Friday and Easter clearly does not line up with scripture. Because following this tradition the maximum one has Jesus in the grave is 1 day and 2 nights.

Mark 15:41-43

King James Version

41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

John 19:30-32

King James Version

30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

Mark 16:9
Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

Just letting the bible speak for itself we can absolutely see, Jesus died on Friday and rose on Sunday!

Your account of history is incomplete.

Christians do not celebrate the sun...they alternatively adapted the celebration of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection on those day now referred to as "Easter." As Christ has overcome the world--so have Christians overcome former pagan practices that no longer have meaning, but have been replaced with celebrations of God and Christ.

Why do you not believe that Christ has overcome the world?
Because Paul says in Colossians 2: 6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Christ kept the Sabbath day on the seventh day of the week, are you keeping that? Let’s take a look and see what Jesus did when he came in the flesh, And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. (Luke 4:14-16)

He is the one who rested on the Sabbath day and commanded that you do the same. If you really understood the scriptures you would realize that He was the one who became known as Jesus who gave you the Ten Commandments. So not only did He command you to cease from your work on that day He also commanded you to. (Lev.23:3) “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation;” He said on the Sabbath day that you should also have an holy convocation, which means holy gathering or simply put, go to church. Remember in Acts 7: 38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

So indeed Jesus was risen before the First Day of the week Sunday, the Book says Mary saw Jesus who, she thought, was the gardener (who had come to work), as He from somewhere within the garden, approached her where she "had had stood after" at the tomb, John 20:11-17. Mark 16:9 says it was "early on the First Day"--sunup when a gardener was supposed to begin his work--that Jesus "as the risen, appeared to Mary M. first". So Jesus "was risen" before sunup "early on the First Day of the week".

But indeed, Jesus was risen before sunup "early on the First Day of the week" -- at least 6 hours before! Because Luke 24:1-2 recorded how Mary M and the other women "deepest of morning after midnight", had come to the tomb with spices prepared for to anoint the body which they thought was still in the tomb, "but the body they found not"---because Jesus was risen before the First Day of the week Sunday, as the Book says!

So indeed, Jesus was risen before sunup "early on the First Day of the week", and at least 12 hours before! Because John 20:1,2 recorded how Mary Magdalene alone on her own and before anyone else, "comes, sees the stone cast away from the tomb, then runs back", present action "it being still early of dark dusk the First Day of the week" that began sundown Saturday vespers---because Jesus was risen before the First Day of the week Sunday, as the Book says!

So ultimately Jesus was risen at least 15 hours before sunup "early on the First Day of the week" because Matthew 28:1-4 recorded how "Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, just as they had "set out to go have a look at the grave late on the Sabbath mid-afternoon THERE WAS A GREAT EARTHQUAKE and the angel cast the stone off from the grave. . ." and Jesus ROSE FROM THE DEAD, "as He had said while He lived, THE THIRD DAY, I RISE! ... WHICH DAY WAS THE DAY AFTER THE PREPARATION", of course "the Sabbath Day of the week being in the daylight inclining towards the First Day of the week."

Because of this Divine Scripture truth the whole Christian Church for more than a century now HAS BEEN UNITED as never in history before in its endeavor to DESTROY IT, AND COVER UP THE GREATEST LIE THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN, THE SATANIC UNTRUTH THAT Christ rose from the dead on SUNDAY.
Jesus foretold when His death would occur. Also by Jesus being the Passover himself, Jesus had to come off the cross because, Sundown bring in the feast of unleavened Bread. Let’s take a look and see in John 19: 31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

In (Matthew 26:1) And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, (2) Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

Now remember God's days start at evening and end the next evening. Keep that in mind as you view the next set of scriptures. Jesus had been betrayed by Judas the evening of the Passover. John 13 tells how Jesus and His disciples, that evening, were sharing the Passover meal. John (18:3) shows that same evening; Jesus was betrayed and taken away. It was still nighttime when they took Jesus, because the men that came and took and bound Him had lanterns and torches.

Jesus was crucified the next day but it was still the Passover. Remember God's days run from sundown to sundown. Jesus had been taken into custody the night of the Passover and the next morning which is the day of the Passover, He was condemned and crucified.

Jesus says in (Matthew 12:38) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

Now in the scriptures it's written in Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week (Wednesday is the middle of the week) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, (Remember, Jesus is the sacrificial Passover Lamb).

So Jesus would Have been in the Grave Wednesday night, Thursday daytime and Thursday night, Friday daytime, Friday night, Saturday daytime and Jesus rose right before the sun went down on Saturday. Hence one has the 3 days and 3 nights which Jesus prophesied.
His death Wednesday night is consistent with the comment of the prophet Daniel, stating the Messiah would be cut off (killed) in the midst of the week.

Re: <notice you didn't post the scripture part.> The scripture part of what?

Re: <Scriptures are from Genesis to Malachi, I don't think I see any scriptures,> You must be blind, no wonder. No, you bluff, you cannot read!

Re: <Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week (Wednesday is the middle of the week) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, (Remember, Jesus is the sacrificial Passover Lamb).>
1. Yes, <Wednesday is the middle of the week>, but so is Thursday for that matter.
2. And yes, <Wednesday is the middle of the week>, so, according to you, Jesus died 6AM - sunup. Yet Scripture has it He died mid-afternoon 3PM.
3. And yes, <Wednesday is the middle of the week>, so according to you, again, He had to be buried sunrise Wednesday, and rise '72 hours' later "the third day", making it to Thursday sunrise day 1 i.e., 24 hours, to Thursday sunrise day 2 i.e., 48 hours, to Friday sunrise day 3 i.e., 72 hours, resurrection. That is, according to you He rose Friday sunup 6AM.
4. And yes, <Wednesday is the middle of the week>, so according to you, again, YOU taking for granted and speaking of 'week' as <seven years>, how do you know the middle of the 'seven-week-years' was a Wednesday? Are you God Omniscient?

<So Jesus would have been in the Grave Wednesday night> etcetera, is all YOUR, HUMBUG. Hence the 3 days and 3 nights which Jesus prophesied CONDEMNS YOU AND YOUR HUMBUG, YOU AND YOUR HUMBUG MAKING OF JESUS' death Wednesday SUNUP, PUREST OF BLASPHEMOUS HUMBUG.
Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Jesus foretold when His death would occur. Also by Jesus being the Passover himself, Jesus had to come off the cross because, Sundown bring in the feast of unleavened Bread. Bottom line, you can't get three days and three night from Good Friday to Easter Sunday, with no kinda math!!

I have seen many many videos proving Jesus died on Wednesday, Thursday etc. Lots of hard work but they are all wrong biblically and culturally.
My view isn't wrong.
1. Jews considered any part of a day as a day when speaking colloquially.
Jesus wasn't speaking colloquially. He said he would be in the ground the same amount of time that Johah was in the whale.
So when Jesus said He would be dead for three days it works out like this:

Friday- death at c. 3PM to sundown Friday--day one .
Saturday- from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday in the tomb--day two
Sunday- from sundown Saturday to His resurrection on Sunday before full sunrise--day three. We know He rose on Sunday for they went to the tomb on the first day of the week which was and is Sunday.
Your explanation only has two nights.
Now to the day8 He died.

Passover is an 8 day holy day in Israel called Pesach. It combines the passover and the 7 days of the feast of unleavened bread.

Jesus ate the Passover on the eve of Passover (the night before the daylight of Passover after sundown.
Jesus ate the Passover on the Day of Passover.

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

You have not represented verse 8, but in part.

Those in Christ do not partake in what is "vain", but rather what is conquered, as we ought to do. Which we do in our reign with Christ. Nothing is unclean, nothing unlawful. This part you have omitted.

Paul's comments were to those on the cusp of transition, who also may not have fully understood except in part. Meanwhile, it is fine to continue to give that same warning and caution to those who are yet secure in Christ. But to those who are secure--you "offend these little ones" to group them in with those who may yet perish.

As for Jesus keeping the Sabbath. Of course, He is the Last, therefore He should indeed have kept it. But He was and is also the First to enter into the complete rest of God leaving behind the practices that only pointed to doing so. Did He not also hedge that practice allowing his own disciples to violate it by previous law? Yes--because they had begun to enter into the actual Sabbath, rather than the vain practice.

Thus, Jesus' commands to keep the Sabbath were understood by the twelve--but not even now by many who keep the law.

Well the bible clearly shows He died on a Friday (day before the Sabbath) and rose on Sunday (the first day of the week.

Your problem is that you do not understand the Jewish culture. Jews counted a day as any part of a day. So Jesus dying at c. 3 pm Friday to sundown Friday was day one.

From sundown Friday to sundown Saturday was day two
From sundown Saturday to just before dawn on Sunday was day three!

So when they said 3 days and nights, on the third day, three days , etc. It is all correct with what teh bible clearly says Jesus dying on Friday and rising on Sunday in their culture and language.

Well the bible clearly shows He died on a Friday (day before the Sabbath) and rose on Sunday (the first day of the week.

From my reading of the chronological order of the crucifixion, I can make these observations.

1. Jesus arrived in Bathany, six days before the Passover feast on the following Friday, just before the sun before the start of the Sabbath for that week.
2. Jesus, after the Sabbath ended when the sun when down on the Sabbath day, organised a young colt to ride to go into Jerusalem. After the sun had gone down, the crowds came from Jerusalem to see Jesus and Lazareth during the twilight and so the Palm Sunday procession into Jerusalem occurred. When the twilight started to fade, Jesus returned to Bethany after having entered the Temple.
3. On the Sunday morning, Jesus again entered the Temple and cleansed the temple and taught in the Temple.
4. On one of the mornings Jesus was going to Jerusalem He cursed a fig tree and it began to wither and die.
4. The next day when Jesus and the disciples passed by that fig tree the disciples observed that the tree was already dead.
5. As the end of the Wednesday approached, Jesus instructed the disciples to prepare a meal in an upper room which occurred on the Thursday night when the Lord's supper was first introduced for us Christian to follow.
6. After the "Last Supper," Jesus went to the Garden of Getsemany to Pray and it was here that Judas brought the Temple Guard too, to arrest Jesus
7. On the Preparation Day for the Passover Feast, Jesus was examined by the High Priest, taken before Pilate and condemned to death at the request of the religious elite of Jerusalem, taken to the Hill, Golgotha, and was crucified there along with two others in the morning, possibly before the third hour of the day.
8. Around the sixth hour, darkness came over Jerusalem until Jesus die around the time of the ninth hour.
9. Before the start of the Passover Day, Jesus' dead body was taken down and placed in a recently refurbished Tomb. Then at the very start oof the Passover day, the High Priest asked Pilate for a guard to be set at the tomb so that Jesus' body could not be stolen by Jesus' disciples. Pilate told the High Priest to use the Temple guard for this task.
10. On the Sunday morning an Angel of the Lord descended from Heaven creating a great turmoil among those at the Tomb and rolled the stone away from the entrance of the Tomb to reveal that the tomb was empty.

So, from these observations we can state: -

Jesus died around 3 pm on Thursday, and that He had risen again before the sun had risen on the following Sunday morning so that Jesus was dead for three days and for three nights he was in the Tomb.

I trust that this brief explanation helps dispels any confusion as to when Jesus was crucified, buried in the tomb and rose again.

Shalom

That's not true because the Bible teaches Jesus didn't rise Easter Sunday Morning. In (Luke 24:1) Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. (2) And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. (3) And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. (4) And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: (5) And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? (6) He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

Most Sunday Roman Christians don't know all this was even written in the Bible about Jesus being in the grave three days and three nights, nor what was written in Daniel 9th Chapter. Just like it's not written in the Bible to go to church on Sunday. The word of God commanded you to.

It is what it is.

I know, right? Some folks liken Jesus' time in the tomb as a hotel reservation. When making a hotel reservation, a partial day is counted as a full day. :)

Once again, in teh times Jesus lived and even today in Jewish culture, Jews would count any part of a day as a whole day in conversation.

So while Jesus did not spend 72 hours in the grave (before sundown friday to after sundown and before dawn sunday) Jews would have said three days! So on the third day, three days, three days and nights all meant the same. any part of the day was considered a whole day.

Yet there wasn't even a part of a 3rd night in that timeline.

Jesus was specific, three days and three nights, thus eliminating that timeline.

Most Sunday Roman Christians don't know all this was even written in the Bible about Jesus being in the grave three days and three nights, nor what was written in Daniel 9th Chapter. Just like it's not written in the Bible to go to church on Sunday. The word of God commanded you to.

Let’s take a look and see what Jesus did when he came in the flesh, And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. (Luke 4:14-16)

It is what it is.
Yes the bible teaches Jesus rose on sunday- the first day of the week!

Matthew 28:1
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
Mark 16:2
And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
Mark 16:9
Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Luke 24:1
Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
John 20:1
The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

All four gospels proclaim Jesus rose on Sunday- you should as well if you wish to be faithful to Jesus and His Word.

Well in Lev. Jews did not go to church. they just gathered in the desert. YOu make a fuss over teh Septuigant use of ekklessia which first and foremost is a gathering.

  1. a gathering of citizens called out from their homes into some public place, an assembly
    1. an assembly of the people convened at the public place of the council for the purpose of deliberating
    2. the assembly of the Israelites
    3. any gathering or throng of men assembled by chance, tumultuously
    4. in a Christian sense
      1. an assembly of Christians gathered for worship in a religious meeting
      2. a company of Christian, or of those who, hoping for eternal salvation through Jesus Christ, observe their own religious rites, hold their own religious meetings, and manage their own affairs, according to regulations prescribed for the body for order's sake
      3. those who anywhere, in a city, village, constitute such a company and are united into one body
      4. the whole body of Christians scattered throughout the earth
      5. the assembly of faithful Christians already dead and received into heaven

When we speak of the body of christ we say church, but remember Jesus in Matt. 17 said He will build future, not has been building or keep building. why is that so difficult for you to understand.

Yet there wasn't even a part of a 3rd night in that timeline.

Jesus was specific, three days and three nights, thus eliminating that timeline.

Much love!
It doesn't matter. Jesus was speaking in the language of the day with the understanding of colloquialisms of the day!

Just like if we say its raining cats and dogs out. We of today know what is meant, but someone 1500 years from now, unless they learned of our colloquial way of speaking would not understand.

Three days, three days and nights, third day all mean the same thing-- any part of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you wish to believe different that is your privilege, but then you have to justify how the Scriptures clearly say Jesus died on Passover Friday and rose on the first day of the week which is sunday, to you insistence it has to be around 72 hours.

Where is the place that says this? That His death was on Friday? I would think if it were that plain we wouldn't be having this conversation. There's no need to argue over it, His is Risen, and that's the main thing.

Much love!

Well to Gentiles 2000 years removed it may not be plain, but when we think and respond according to the text we learn and know!

John 19:31
The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

That Saturday (sundown Friday to sundown Saturday) was the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, which made it a high sabbath.

Jesus ate the Passover seder Thursday after sundown (making it Friday in Jewish reckoning) on Passover. He was arrested that night (to us Thurs night- to Jews Friday) and put to death that same day!

That Friday was not only Passover but also the day of preparation for the feast of unleavened bread. Every Jewish household had to remove all leaven and leavened products from their house ot prepare their house.

Once again, in teh times Jesus lived and even today in Jewish culture, Jews would count any part of a day as a whole day in conversation.
Okay, I get that. But Jesus' prediction is not "everyday conversation." And as far as I know, no one would say that two nights is three nights.
So while Jesus did not spend 72 hours in the grave (before sundown friday to after sundown and before dawn sunday) Jews would have said three days! So on the third day, three days, three days and nights all meant the same. any part of the day was considered a whole day.
I don't think we need to play games with what Jesus said, since there is a way to work this out so that Jesus was in the tomb for three whole days and three whole nights.

Well at this point you probably believe rabbits lay eggs, so I'll leave you to it.

peace in Jesus name.
