Paul taught to place no confidence in the flesh.

What does that mean?

Well, he's talking about going to heaven, or to try to stay saved, or to try to get God to accept you.

If you are trying to do any of that, and your TRUST is in anything you can do.......and that means trying to do ANYTHING.....then you are placing your salvation at the mercy of your behavior, and that is a 100% fail.
How do you know?
Its because God had to Die on the Cross, BECAUSE you have no way to regain relationship with Him, or to keep it after God has restored you to eternal relationship to Him through the Cross of Christ.

LEGALISM, or "self saving".....or "here is what i have to DO, or make sure i DONT DO, to go to heaven".....is : "to place confidence in the Flesh".

Let me show you where to place your confidence so that you can rest from trying to be good enough for God to accept, as you will never make it there, Reader.
The CROSS is the PROOF..

Jesus said.......'I am the WAY to the Father". John 14:6

See that?
There is your: "Straight Gate".
There is your" "Narrow way"
You can trust Christ to get you to the Father.
He did not fail to do it........ and that is why He said from the Cross..."it is FINISHED"..
= Your ONLY way back to GOD.
Place your confidence ONLY IN Christ, and you have met the only requirement that God demands, to take you into His Family and keep you there forever.

This is the sort of confidence and boldness that we indeed need: :)

Yes.

And Reader...

We the born again, can always go to God. The door, who is Christ, is always open to God.
24/7 access, and we are always invited.

Christians get tangled up in this idea that they have to be good enough, good enough, good enough, and if they are just good enough, then God might listen, might help, might love them.
That's faith in self, and that is a fail.
In fact, we dont have to worry about that, because the Gift of Righteousness, ...is to be MADE RIGHTEOUS by God through CHRIST's Sacrifice.
This gift that God has given, this BLOOD ATONEMENT.... always Keeps God at peace with us..

"but what if if"....
God is always at peace with you.

"but i messed up"
God is always kept at peace with you, by Jesus's Blood and DEATH.

"but if you knew what i did after i was saved".

GOD KNEW IT BEFORE YOU DID IT, .. He knew you would do it, on the day He saved you.......and He saved you anyway !!
Why?
Because Jesus has died for it already........all of your SIN.
This does not give you permission to be evil.......what this does, when you understand it, is free you to be HOLY.
That is what this knowledge of being "made the righteousness of God in Christ"......does.
IT FREES you from self effort and allows you to rest in God's Grace, and in THERE, in that Place of Knowledge is rest..is JOY, = you find God's power to live the holy life.

Well, he's talking about going to heaven, or to try to stay saved, or to try to get God to accept you.

This has nothing to do with trying to stay saved. Paul is talking about circumcision and observance of days, months, and years.

This is what he’s talking about:

“Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.” (Philippians 3:4-6)

LEGALISM, or "self saving".....or "here is what i have to DO, or make sure i DONT DO, to go to heaven".....is : "to place confidence in the Flesh".

“Legalism” and “self-saving” are just labels invented by your sect. The Bible doesn’t teach you these words and phrases.

And placing confidence in the flesh is about observing ceremonial aspects of the law, not the moral aspects of the law; of which Paul exhorts believers to observe constantly in his epistles (particularly by walking in the Spirit in love).

Your view of biblical doctrine is distorted by Once Saved Always Saved/Eternal Security.

You dont read enough bible, according to your post's lack of understanding of all of Paul's epistles.
Thats the effect of being addicted to commentaries, whose authors also are not students of Paul.
See, to be a student of the New Testament is to be a student of Paul's Theology.
If you were this....., then you would realize that Paul was defining his "confidence", as self righteousness, and stated that all self righteousness that includes commandment keeping, and good works...... is exactly "DUNG", with regards to it having any chance of providing you with what God requires to accept you as His own.

Also,

My "view of biblical doctrine" is Pauline Theology.

I Read Bible 3 times a year.

Thats the effect of being addicted to commentaries, whose authors also are not students of Paul.

I don’t have time to waste on any commentaries whatsoever.

See, to be a student of the New Testament is to be a student of Paul's Theology.

It’s not his theology. It’s Christ’s commandments. Paul wrote:

“If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 14:37)

If you were this....., then you would realize that Paul was defining his "confidence", as self righteousness

Self righteousness in observing the ceremonial aspects of the law. Because Paul himself wrote:

“Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”” (Romans 13:8-9)

and stated that all self righteousness that includes commandment keeping, and good works.....

Really?

“And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.” (Titus 3:14)

Get Dispensationalism out of your head.

It has thoroughly corrupted you…

Yes, really.

"good works for necessary uses".

That is not good works to be saved, or to stay saved.

"for if righteousness cometh by the LAW(or commandments or works) THEN CHRIST IS DEAD IN VAIN".

Listen...

SALVATION, IS CHRIST.

GOING TO HEAVEN, IS THROUGH CHRIST. JOHN 14:6

The born again, "present our bodies a living sacrifice, and "take up our Cross", because GOD on the CROSS has taken up our SIN and has provided Jesus as our Eternal FORGIVENESS and our Everlasting Righteousness.

“…continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” (Romans 11:22)

Turning back to the evilness of sin will get you disqualified from entering the kingdom of God.

Don’t temp God.

Yes, BEFORE coming to God by faith alone.

Afterwards:

“…he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.” (1 John 3:7)

Yes.

Ive taught this verse to quite a few Legalists here, as they love to quote it.

Look carefully...the verse says ....."continue in HIS.....Goodness".

Who is that?
Who is "His"....
That is God.
And what id God's Goodness? = ITs CHRIST..........you are to continue in the knowledge of this.....that goodness, and mercy, came from God to the underserving world, as Christ on the Cross.
So, to continue in GOD's Goodness..... is not you trying to be good.
Understand?

So, if you dont continue IN .....IN......God's Goodness, its because you were never born again.
You are of of those that the SEED feel on the ground, but has no ROOT.

Christ said you must be born again.
Its God's GOODNESS that allows this, so that you can become a SON of GOD....based on that verse.

"GOD's Goodness". .. to continue in it is to be born again, as without the new birth, you can't.

“…he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.” (1 John 3:7)[/QUOTE]

You are not righteous by doing anything.
See, if you could be righteous, based on yourself then Christ didnt have to come down here to pay for your dirty rotten sins, Michiah-Imla.

So, you quote verses, but you dont have them.
You just quote them.

You are not righteous by doing anything.

“Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.” (1 John 3:7)

And this is true because I have done what the scripture says:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

So I’m not letting you deceive me.

Listen carefully.
You're deceiving yourself, and you've had a lot of help with that.

Listen....

Put Christ back in Heaven......
He never came yet........
He has not been born yet.
No Cross yet.

Now, go and play your righteousness game with yourself, Michiah-Imla.
Give to the poor.
Pray all the time.
Live a celibate life.
Do good works from dawn till midnight for 90 yrs then die.

Are you Righteous?
ARe you?
YOU ARE NOT.
You are this...>"ALL HAVE SINNED and fallen short of the Glory of God"., while you were doing all those DEEDS.

There is no RIGHTEOUSNESS found in a human being, outside of God giving them His, as "the gift of Righteousness".
And to have that, Jesus told YOU, YOU< that YOU must be BORN AGAIN.

Believe it.

The ridiculousness of this statement is astounding.

One day, you may understand Christ's CROSS is the Goodness of God.

John 3:16
2 Corinthians 5:19

And by being born again, a person , a BELIEVER< becomes, "IN CHRIST.
And that is how you continue IN IN IN = God's Goodness.
You are born again there, "in Christ".

There is your answer.

The ridiculousness of this statement is astounding.

Listen and THINK.

"God's Goodness".

That is not you doing anything, as you are not God.

"God's Goodness", is GOD's provision.
See it yet?

So, you have to find your way there by FAITH......and JESUS IS THE WAY THERE...... John 14:6.

Jesus said, "i give unto the believer, ETERNAL LIFE">

See that?
That is "GOD's Goodness".

Now, go and play your righteousness game with yourself, Michiah-Imla.

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:13-14)

You are the one that has sin dominating you, not me. You are the one mocking those doing righteous works unto God, not me. You are the one ignoring 95% of the Bible and reading only Romans-Philemon, not me.

This is quite the show you are putting on. It’s quite laughable actually.

I’m still amazed people like you continue in obvious unbiblical doctrines. The things you say contradict direct scripture passages. It’s so crazy.

Must be the strong delusion God sends on folks who ignore or turn from the love of the truth to lies.

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12)

Im not discounting Discipleship.

Im only showing you that you are trying to go to heaven by doing works.
You can't make it that way, as The CROSS is going to block the entrance of everyone who tries by "the error of Cain" to go to heaven.

Have you ever read JUDE?
Its a little epistle in the NT.
Its right past 3rd- John
JUDE shows you that all your good deeds, are filthy rags, as you try to present them to God as if they can COMPETE with the Blood and Death of Holy Jesus.

So, the "error of Cain", that JUDE teaches, is that Cain tried to gain God's acceptance by bringing God His Works of Righteousness....(Good deeds, self effort).
= God told him, to GET OUT.!!!

Abel brought not one work, but instead brought the blood, and God said....>You are welcome here.

Look in the mirror......

And let me show you 2 more..

1.) We have had your discussion for a while now....You post the same one on a lot of my Threads.
If you go back and look at your posts.... on any Thread, not just this one, You like to argue with Grace, the Grace of God.
Here is what you do....you post and post and post relentlessly about WORKS, YOUR WORKS., more works.

And notice that when i post to you, or nearly every post...., i only talk about Christ's Work, that is the Cross.

You only talk about works and YOUR works, and i only talk about Christ and HIS Cross.

Take a good look at that., as its very revealing of you., and of me.
And you'll do it again, as WORKS are all you have to talk about.
And i'll do it again, as Christ is all i Trust and that is why i talk about The Cross., and let me show you why.

2.) Paul said...>"be a follower of me, as i follow Christ".
And then He said this..

""""For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and HIM CRUCIFIED".

See that?
That is all i talk about.....also.......post after post , Thread after Thread, Forum after Forum, Sermon after Sermon, Church after Church..... till i die.

Do you see me now?

I argue against those turning the grace of God into lasciviousness (Jude 1:4).

And those who preach lake of fire invincibility.

you post and post and post relentlessly about WORKS, YOUR WORKS., more works.

I encourage good works unto God (Romans 6:3).

And discourage the works of darkness among believers (Romans 13:12).
