The law matters - it matters like potential in a rookie athlete; a cash of canned goods in a food closet in an arctic village; a brewing storm in a September drought. It matters, but without the fulfullment of Gods love on the cross.......it is death. Action is required for the love of the law to be practiced and fulfilled in the lives of our neighbors.

God made the Law and Jesus finished it off with the magic ingredient, his Grace over all matters exceeds the letter of the Law.
The Law still exist Jesus never got rid of it, we know that fact, but Grace when one truly knows what the Grace of God is all about, then you will know that Grace trumps the letter Law, it understands the human element and can discern.

The letter of the Law can not discern, it's like Political Correctness such is blind to judgement so such has no Grace so it can not discriminate. to be able to discriminate has got to do with knowledge of right and wrong, good and bad, truth and lies and what is better than or is not as good. so say we have two cars up for sale same model year etc bout look just good as the other but fact is that the motor and transmission are on the way out and treated and serviced badly and the other is great and was looked after, now one who is able to discriminate what is what will not be fooled.

Two Cakes both called the same thing and look the same, now when eaten one may point out that one was made with butter and the other with margarine, now that's a person who can discriminate between to two.

So what happens in a Healthy democracy under Christianity's Grace is that one can challenge the Law, but under the Letter of the Law you can not challenge jack, you have to prove you are not guilty and the Government is the Law and makes up whatever Laws it wants, Socialist governments are all about empowering themselves over all the people and getting rid of all true opposition and God, just like the Golden Calf mob wanted to do.

Orthodoxy says "The Law" (however you consider it) does not apply today, at all. How do you see it? Why are any commands even mentioned in the New Testament?

New Testament Christians are NOT lawless. Just the opposite. Sin is lawlessness, and Jesus was manifest to take away our sin, and in Him there is no sin. How? Because we follow the LAW of the Spirit of life in Christ. It sets us free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2 Anyone without the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him.

1 John 3:23 tells us our main covenant commandments.

To believe on the name of His Son, Jesus Christ and love one another.
