if someone changes their name to something totally unrecognizable.. I would wonder what the person is trying to hide.

Some indeed do it to circumvent bans but others might have their reasons.

I personally hide my social security number, my real birthday and the email I typically use also.
So what am I trying to hide? Exactly that, my social security number from theft, my real birthday also from data collectors who sell this info, and emails to make this a little difficult.

I recall this man who was a newby who had just started posting on another forum I was on many years back calling christians frauds and liars simply because they do not post their real names when they post (although I am sure his "Mr. George Smith" coming in his own name was his real name) I think not. Simply put, a username is not any persons real name, so anyone using one is actually hiding who they are. Ever hear of malicious actors, identity theft and data collectors, and all the rest of it? Sometimes its not done to hide anything but being mindful of these things and making it a little more difficult on that end of things.

Especially when in some seemingly freindly (and honest) casual back and forth between you and others drop your gaurd and answer seemingly innocent questions, for example.

I adore dogs! Anyone else here love dogs too? "I'll go first, I have a sweet german shepherd named mandy" tell me about your little sweety! (Oh so innocent)

Whereas your dog's name is oftentimes one of the security questions options on a pulldown menu at a bank used as verification of who you are. So is where you were born, and all sorts of personal questions that are bound to come up in only discussions, and people love to talk about themselves , so there is sometimes hidden dangers lurking in casual freindly discussions and always the potential to drop your gaurd and answer something you really should never put out there (for malicious actors) or cyber stalkers to gather about you.

We arent really among just friends in Christ when occupying this online space. Sometimes people are aware of those hidden dangers and its less about hiding themselves because they would ever do such things.

if I am in one chatroom under one name. and in another chat room under a different name

I am trying to hide the fact I am the same person.

the reason does not matter.. but thats what you are doing.. because if you go to any chat room you see many people are members of all chatrooms or most of them

Sorry, I do not do chat rooms, I do not have a Facebook, Twitter/X, YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Google account (or any such like accounts). And I really do not want to be a part of that world for the most part. Christian forums are where I participate in sharing the word of God (and for as long as I can endure them typically). I have only been banned by 1 forum on the internet (and I am no longer a member) over a verse of scripture. But I typically "self ban" so as to discourage myself from participatng.

Ever have your self banned (by actually requesting one) at some forums? I requested it here, and I do that quite often as I have admitted that I do (when I begin to tire of the bickering on the forums). After self banning try getting your old screen name back at the same forum. It's typically a no go. I know, there has been one time when an exception was made that I could (after mentioning who I was before under another name).

I typically say who I am on a forum (and who I formerly posted under). I did the same at Christian forums, and at Christian chat, and I have already done so here as well, (having posted already that I am the poster who formerly posted as Verily). See the Members board (or simply do a search of this user name and Verily, and you will see that I have done what I said I did).

When you self ban (as I have typically done over the past 20 years time and again) You typically need to choose a different screen name to enter back into the same forum again. You might anounce that you were formerly "whoever you were" but sometimes just tell those you care to fellowship with (beyond online message boards) who you were/are.

You for instance, you don't care who I am beyond any particular username. We don't typically agree on much, or even seek conversations with one another. So why would "who I supposedly am" (behind whichever former username I have choosen) be of particular importance to you? See what I mean? No matter which username I might be posting under (at whichever board) for whatever reasons would be my own business.

Besides, I am only at this board for now and I have stated who I was prior because I am not seeking to deceive anyone about who I am. I have been forthright and honest about this.

Stop looking for some sort of evil lurking where there really isn't anything there. Think about it, Its a user name on a christian forum (or many of the same on many forums) over the course of many years where we discuss openly on such boards, what possible hidden dirt or hidden evil on someone would you think someone can be "supposedly" hiding out in the open (an open forum).

Its a strange thing to have an evil suspicion about when you give it a little thought.

That too, I am with you there Taken

I do catch some Youtube video clips time and again, but for the most of I have a couple of people I might catch up with some of the latest events, but I will seek for worship music before I purchase or recipes to try, that sort of thing.

Don’t have a computer, but do scan y-tube for news… actual news rather than panels of commentators barfing their opinions, pretending they are reporting news.

BTW… welcome to the forum.
God bless you.

verily verily i say unto you .
Truly truly i say unto you .
Hello my friend . TO the trenches for the hour is late indeed and grows only later with each passing hour .
And by the way, the most tedious part of forum membership is finding a new username, and I just went looking for something synonomous to what I had before.

When I came back you were telling me that it means the same thing (which was the point) lol

I have already stated I participate on the forums and the only forum I am on now is this one.

Christianchat had an additional "live chat room" so does (or so did) Worthy, and CF also had one at one time, although I am not sure if they still do.

You can stop pretending that you do not know what I mean.
