Following the Supreme Court's decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, pro-life groups are focused on creating laws that grant fetuses the same legal rights and protections as any person.

"So-called fetal personhood laws would make abortion murder, ruling out all or most of the exceptions for abortion allowed in states that already ban it," The New York Times reported Sunday.

Pro-life groups hope that going that route will establish a federal ban on abortion through legislation or another Supreme Court decision.

"Personhood has always been the ultimate ambition of the anti-abortion movement," University of California, Davis professor Mary Ziegler, historian of abortion, told the Times.

"The movement very much wants a declaration that abortion is a human rights and constitutional rights violation. Not just that it's a crime; that it's unconstitutional. From a symbolic standpoint, that's a really big deal to a lot of people in the movement."

The Supreme Court on June 24 overruled the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling creating a constitutional right to an abortion.

In a 6-3 decision, the court upheld a Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, that the Constitution does not enshrine a right to an abortion, and that the issue belongs with the states.

The Times said that simply returning the regulation of abortion to the states never was enough for pro-life supporters.

"Life begins at conception, and this bill is a straightforward first step towards updating our federal laws to reflect that fact," Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., said in proposing the Unborn Child Support Act in Congress last month.

The Roe decision had prohibited states from banning abortion before a fetus can survive outside the womb, which is now around 23 or 24 weeks.

The justices, identifying a right to abortion in the Fourteenth Amendment, declared that the word "person" in that amendment did "not include the unborn."

Pro-life groups, however, believe that "person" did include the unborn.

In 1980, the Republican Party platform first included support for a "human life amendment" that would "restore protection of the right to life for unborn children."

Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate have introduced legislation that would establish a right to child support for fetuses beginning at conception.

In Georgia, a fetus now qualifies for tax credits and child support, and is to be included in population counts and redistricting. '""""

Interesting thread.

The justices, identifying a right to abortion in the Fourteenth Amendment, declared that the word "person" in that amendment did "not include the unborn."

The justices were right about the context of the 14A use of the word "person" in that amendment did "not include the unborn." The 13A-15A were a reaction to the War of Northern Aggression, having nothing to do with abortion.

Beyond that, the unborn belong to a special class of humans incapable of making choices. They need an advocate, to make choices for them. No rational person would expect the unborn to obey the law, like file taxes.

As it should be!!

From the moment of conception, that "fetus" has a complete DNA code that is 100% human

It is living.

It can have a separate blood type already encoded than his/her mother.

Just like any other person, if nurtured and cared for it will continue to grow and develop.

A new born infant is vastly different than the person they will become when 60--but only physically. Unless acted upon by mutations- their DNA code is fixed- just like the person in the womb.

But these are scientific truths that used to be held inviolate in this nation, while there was still a glimmer of godliness in the public square.

Men who meddle Redefining a Person, Gender, Marriage shall bear the consequences of their actions, so too also shall men bear their own consequences for taking pleasure in such acts of meddlesome men.

A Person is a born individual living body and soul.
Gender is a male and a female.
Marriage is a holy union between one man and one woman.

Pretending the expectation of a person IS a person is a lie.
Pretending males are females and females are males is a lie.
Pretending marriage is holy or other than between one man and one woman is a lie.

People can choose to live a lie, without Legal approval or forbidding by US Governments.
Not the people’s business to meddle in other people’s private business.
Not the Governments business to meddle in the people’s private business.

Obviously, you're revealing your man-hating here. Where you OK with men defining all this in 1973 in Roe v Wade?

Obviously your “hate” accusation expresses your own feelings, not mine.

Not in the least do I think it is hate for one to take care of their own according to the manner one chooses.

1 Tim 5:
[8] But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Gal 6:
[5] For every man shall bear his own burden.

Rom 1:
[28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
[29] Being filled with all unrighteousness...
[32] Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Where you OK with men defining all this in 1973 in Roe v Wade?

Don’t care what the Supreme Court Justices did in 1973 or 2022, they can hand down their Secular provoked Opinions all day long.
Their Opinions do not rule my life. They are not my Masters.
If you think that is “hate”, that’s on you, not me.

Thankyou for that information. Just one thing. Fetus is Latin for baby so why not say baby?

Well, i teach that Abortion is evil, but, that is based on the abortion industry, which is created to make money killing babies.

However, i also know that the heartbeat begins about 6 weeks into the pregnancy, and certainly by week 15 there is a definite heartbeat.

But, what is there, and is always there, is LIFE.

So, abortion may not always end the heart beat, but it always ends a LIFE, and God created LIFE, and no one has a right to take it, except for God.

You are obviously promoting some sort of unBiblical self-made religion. Scripture says that a person does not become a living being until God breathes into it's nostrils the Breath of Life, as God said of Adam: "God breathed into his nostrils the Breath of Life, and he became a LIVING BEING!".

Satan says that is a lie! You say it is a lie!

The entire church is being buried under a covering of Satanic lies, which seems to be the norm these days!

You are obviously not very familiar with the understanding that the Spirit is Life, and not you breathing air.

You must believe that your body is the spirit, according to your post that is pretty unrelated to any spiritual understanding.

A "Living Being" is the Spirit in a person, not your breath......so .. the Breath of LIFE that God Gives is not AIR.
Why?
Because "Father God is a SPIRIT".......He's not breathing air.....StanB

Let me show you one more...

In John 20:22, "Jesus breathed on them, and said, "receive you the Holy Spirit"

That verse is the same understanding as "God breathed into Adam", and He became a living being.

I'm not sure this is a good argument at all. Following death a body has a complete DNA code for decades if not longer. Should we say corpses are people

I am VERY familiar with when man becomes a viable living being! I happens AFTER that fetus exits the womb, and GOD breathes into it the BREATH OF LIFE. Until then James declares that whatever is in the womb unborn is dead.

"For as the body apart from the spirit is dead . . ." James 2:26

Nothwithstanding, if you had read your Bible, you would know that God approves of abortion. You are declaring God is therefor evil!

"Men" do not exit the "fetus"

Babies do, StanB.

So, as i was telling you..

The Spirit in a person is the "LIFE" and the body is not what God breathed into adam, or what Jesus breathed into the Apostles.

Life (the Spirit) exists and begins with God ......and the body is just the dying container.

Just as many times as you'd see a dentist for an abortion, TinMan.

Obviously.
Does the number of times you have the "right" to have dental care change if there are protestors outside the dentist's office?
