I watched a documentary on Netflix last night. ' over the curve ' is about the flat earthers. I could not watch the whole thing. They focus on some of the main people in the society, and too me they are paranoid, and some very much on ego trips with their popularity. It was abit like watching 'The office ' and the character David Brent comes to mind.

They are very in to all the conspiracy theories, but in an extreme way.
It would be interesting to know anyone else's views on the programme- but not sure if you get the same Netflix programs as I do in the UK

I have a long time friend that is a Brother in Christ that firmly believes the earth is flat based on Scripture. He reads the Bible literally, every word. How can I, from a Biblical standpoint show him the truth? We've been going back and forth for months. He thinks I'm deceived and lying to him. He also thinks the world is in a conspiracy to hide the flat earth because exposing it would deny evolution. He does his own laser tests over frozen lakes and completely denies any scientific proof of a Globe earth. He denies outer space, the moon landing and thinks the sun and moon are small and close, and thinks the moon creates its own light. He firmly believes the Firmament is solid.
When foolishness is self-evident it is foolishness to engage it.

Often discussions and media debates are conducted around extreme examples which are then used to try to discredit those who don't agree with a particular agenda or vested interest.

PS: A lot depends also on the presuppositions of those who make such documentaries, doesn't it?

Yes it does, but the flat earthers themselves were given the freedom to express their beliefs and openly convey things. I tend to watch these programs with an open mind - you would need to watch it yourself to see what I was conveying earlier X

not bc a sphere manifests for us naturally, right.

I've seen it with my eyes, both looking from the coastline, and looking from a mountaintop in the local range. I can see the horizon, and how distinctly different it is from sea level to 10,000 ft. Islands I can't see from the beach, I can see them, and beyond, from the mountain. And with my eyes, I could easily see the curve of the earth. And then I couldn't see past it.

And this is all anyone need do to convince themself. If they actually want to know.

Much love!

hey, im seeing the same thing, not trying to debate that. I am surprised the FEers haven't gone metaphysical though, and suggested...well, the obvious, that appearances can be deceiving?

now, im not an FEer ok, but i dont see any reason that God could not just put us all on that drop of water either

That's okay. The socialist Democrat party is destroying itself all on its own.

Wow, pretty hard to assess from your seat on Republican Airlines....on its way down, in flames.

He thinks the moon creates it's own light??? Bwhaahhahah. ROFL. That's hilarious. Why is it half dark then? Some people, you cannot help.
