Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3)

The words "whose mind is stayed on thee" in this verse is a reference to our frame of mind being propped up or supported By God. As a Builder myself, this verse has a deeper meaning to me. When You build a wall that is not propped up by something, a slight gust of wind or a minor nudge from someone moving by it, or even an imbalance in the structure can cause that wall to fall. if it is improperly propped up It will sway in the wind and come out of level and plumb.

Our Spiritual life is like this as well. We may build it right using all the right doctrines, and all the right words and all the right behaviors, But if it is not supported and Propped up By God this building will either fall apart or become askew of what is true and plumb.

How is it that we are to Spiritually aright that building once we have put it together? How do we Build a building that is at "perfect peace"? By our focus. When Our focus is on earthly things and earthly problems the building we build becomes askew, when we focus on the eternal things of God and place our trust in Him in the everyday things He will bring perfect peace to who and what we become.

Jesus asked us to consider the ravens and the Lilies of the field, and how they do not reap nor sow, nor gather up reserves in the Barn nor what they are to be clothed with. (See Luke 12:22-31) He Also Told us to lay up our treasure in heaven (Matthew 6:20).... The Only way that we can do this is to focus on Christ and eternity with Christ. Our eyes need to change their focus from earthly things to heavenly things to His Glory and His Majesty, when we do, we learn to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, Not just in word and in deed. That is when whatever trials this world and the adversary throws our way we will be able to remain at perfect peace, for we are not propped up by earthly things such as the pride of life, But are propped up by thoughts of His Kingdom to come.

As The Old Hymn puts it:

  1. O soul, are you weary and troubled?
    No light in the darkness you see?
    There’s light for a look at the Savior,
    And life more abundant and free!
    • Refrain:
      Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
      Look full in His wonderful face,
      And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
      In the light of His glory and grace.
  2. Through death into life everlasting
    He passed, and we follow Him there;
    O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
    For more than conqu’rors we are!
  3. His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
    Believe Him, and all will be well:
    Then go to a world that is dying,
    His perfect salvation to tell!
