July 4th 2024 was the last day I worked out. They sent me home from work September 25th.
I had surgery December 23rd 2024, then two weeks later had a blood clot and a pulmonary embolism.
I have been going to physical therapy for almost a year.
February will be one year since I applied for disability.
I have more PT prescribed now I need to start working my upper body regularly again
I can walk some on my own, my left leg has gotten stronger and I can do more but I need a knee replacement for the right knee and PT and walking hurt my knee.
Be mindful. Psalm 147:10

Been going to physical therapy, I'm walking on my own now, the nerve pain in my left leg is much better, it's my right knee that's bothering me. I'm putting several lineaments on it and I am getting another steroid shot on February 2nd.
I'm going to start working my upper body again, I'm going to try working out with the steel mace today.
I'm down 40 pounds and have to lose 60 more before I can have knee replacement surgery

I had a physical Tuesday for disability. The nurse said that I wasn’t faking like most people she sees. I’m still trying to get back in the habit of working my upper body with bands. Waiting on a decision from disability and hanging in there.

When I went into the 7th grade I was picked on, bullied and beat up repeatedly.
One day in PE they took us in a room with a Universal Machine and we started lifting weights. I could bench press more than anyone else. Someone told me they could still beat me up .
There was a weight set at home and I started working out with it, push ups and jogging.
I didn’t know what I was doing I just worked until I couldn’t do anymore. My father told me I needed a book to show me what to do but I couldn’t find one.
A year later I flew to Georgia to visit relatives and when I landed and went through the airport there was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s book The Education of a Bodybuilder.
I started buying magazines too and found out about Mike Mentzer’s high intensity training.
By the 9th grade I was a different person. The second week of school someone started a fight with me and I hit him so hard that his eye swelled shut.
After that I was popular. That’s what every kid wants. I got in a lot of fights that year but after that 10th through 12th grade I didn’t have to fight anymore,
Lifting weights was a way of life for me. I never competed but I got pretty strong for someone who didn’t use steroids.
My best lifts were Bench Press 405 x 5, Squats 405 x10, 315 x 20, Leg Press 1,000 x 10, Dumbbell Curls 80 x 10, One Arm Rows 120x 20
Lifting weights helped me with my career in law enforcement and security.
6 years ago I got remarried and moved 70 miles from my job and had to commute. There was no room for my equipment so I had to sell it.
I gained 100 pounds over the years.
Three months ago I started working out again and I have lost 40 pounds. I’m trying to lose another 40 by December and then a total of 100 in a year or less.
I started with DDP Yoga because it has a program for people that are completely out of shape. I started using the X3 Bar and band system, a Total Gym and Dumbbells. I have an adjustable bench.
I recommend DDP Yoga if you’re out of shape or have limited mobility.
The X3 band system is great if you don’t have a lot of space. I put everything in a duffel bag and store it out of the way when I finish working out
Update: I’ve lost 55 pounds so far. I need to lose 45 more in 6 months to reach my goal.
Man, going from benching 405 to a 100lb weight gain is a brutal reality check, but kudos for ditching the excuses and getting back on the horse. DDP Yoga is solid for mobility, but don't get married to just bands and bodyweight forever; if you want that old strength back, you’re eventually gonna need to stop playing around in your living room and hit some real iron again. Keep grinding, old man!

I have some stomach strains and have backed off working out for a while. Feel the need to resume but know as I get older, my "old" self, glory days are gone.

I had all kind of problems. Had arthritis pressing on nerves causing leg pain, had surgery and complications from surgery, haven’t worked in a year and a half, and now I need a knee replacement. But I’m still working out

That is awesome that you are still working out even after having these disabilities. It is inspiring. I could never lift that kind of weight, but I just keep to 110 pounds and slowly build from there, but I don't want muscles, just body strength.

So what does Fenugreek do?
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a versatile, clover-like herb originating from the Mediterranean, Western Asia, and Southern Europe. It is used in cooking for its maple-nutty flavor and in traditional medicine (Ayurvedic/TCM) to aid digestion, increase milk production, and control blood sugar. Common side effects include digestive issues and a maple syrup-like body odor.

There's none of that in DDP Yoga, just stretching and flexing

Or, one could stretch and flex without yoga at all and not open the door to evil spirits

Diamond Dallas Page was actually practicing yogo:

What Is DDP Yoga?

DDP stands for Diamond Dallas Page, a former pro-wrestler turned fitness guru. Page's interest in yoga began when he injured his back in the ring and went looking for ways to rehabilitate himself. He was amazed at how quickly he began to see improved flexibility and strength when he practiced yoga.

He began to combine yoga with therapeutic exercises for his back and, as his condition improved, added in slow-motion workout moves like crunches and push-ups. When he wore a heart rate monitor during yoga, he noticed that he could make his heart rate go up significantly when he strongly engaged his muscles. This was the origin of the technique that sets DDP Yoga apart.

I am 230 pounds. I try to get12,000 steps a day in and stay in shape. I have a ring of adipose tissue around my belt line that wont go away. I believe if I were to fast until I passed this earth that ring of belly fat would still be there. Very aggravating!

I have read of Ann Wilson from Heart, speaking about using fasting and extreme, restrictive diets in the 1970s and 1980s to maintain her teen idol image while under intense pressure from the music industry. I can understand her frustrations!
