God was not confused when He gave His Word. He told us exactly what He intended to.
Maybe the thought I connected with in your post there was this, that if we start off with the notion that we are going to adhere to the Word itself, we'll more tend to stay on course. But once we get the idea that we can start substuting meanings of words, and ignore the details in passages, the distinctions, we will end up with our own ideas, calling them God's ideas, but not to be found in the text, only in one's imaginations. Not good!
This is true, but in God's prophetic uttering He doesn't tell us things openly for reasons. If God stated Israel was going to rule the whole world under Jesus the Romans would have seen that as treason and killed off the churches who had those writings, thus he said THE WOMAN instead in Rev. 12, and instead of saying Rome or The Whole World (same thing at the time) was going to be Judged, God instead used the 7 Beasts Imagery in place of kingdoms and Babylon in place of the world, Babel is simply confusion, the whole world gets judged in Rev. 17 and 18 but God calls it Babylon, thus the Romans laughed and thought "these nuts think a Dead City is going to be judged". But as we read the bible, we can see who Babylon is, the Whole World who are so confused that they try to fight against their own loving Creator. We can prove this via scriptures.
Rev. 16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts(Jerusalem/Earthquake/Jesus returns), and the cities of the nations fell(Nations fall): and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
So, God states emphatically that GREAT BABYLON was defeated by Jesus and given the Wine-press of His wrath. So, all we need to do to find out who God sees as Babylon the Great is to go see who Jesus defeated at vial #7. We do that by looking at Vial #6.
Rev. 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
So, who were killed at Vial #7 ? The Kings of the WHOLE WORLD !! So, God calls everyone who gathers against Him, to try and kill His son Jesus and His Israel peoples "Babylon the Great" its not even that hard to figure this out. This is my calling for 37 years, I see it. There was a reason Jesus talked to his disciples in parables, he told us, so the world hearing and seeing would not understand, but the disciples hearing and seeing would understand.
If God via Jesus talked in parables, He is doing the same thing in the bible, we have to search out His truths, men not of God can read the bible all day long and not get it, they can find contradiction after contradiction, but there are no contradictions in the bible, just people not led by the spirit and people led by the spirit, the former can't see but we can see, if we understand these things.
Of course you are going to have people, of Satan, who try to come in and confuse, I see it all day long. But God's truths are still in the bible, and they are not meant to be obvious in every situation. The good news of Jesus yes is meant to be simple, of course, but TIMELINES, ENTITIES, meanings of Prophetic Utterings have to be searched out.
The 144,000 = 3.5=5 million Jews who repent, just like the 10 virgins = 2 Billion people in Christendom today. Why people can grasp one but not the other is beyond me tbh.
