I posted this on another forum but would like to know other opinions as well.

I'm comtemplating on whether or not if I should buy one for my grand kids but I don't have a strong enough reason to do so.

Out of curiousity, for those who do buy these for their kids, what is your reason for doing it?

And for those against it, can you explain your reasons?

Thanks in advance!

Dont worry about the clueless fool who posted after you he will be dealt with soon, just like he has been likely dealt with on this forum many times before.

Mate I would personally look for something that teaches basic Bible storys for kids, like some of the Old Testament accounts of Noah, or the account of Jesus Christ. i know they probably sell em somewhere. something that will give them a basic beginning as to what the Bible is all about, if they have questions later it may present an awesome opportunity for you to talk with them.
Good on ya mate good question.

I personally grew up with The Picture Bible, the entire Bible in comic book form. I read that over and over, until it fell apart, and then my parents bought me another and I read that one until it fell apart. I was hungry for the Word of God even as a little boy. Since then, because it's still in print, I've frequently recommended parents buy this for their kids. My 11 and 6 year old boys each have one, though admittedly the books they have don't reveal the same level of wear and tear as the one I had. Still, they'll take it on trips and they'll read it when the TV is OFF (which is often).

I would say never assume that kids will be bored with religious books or movies. My family and I have watched "Courageous" and "Fireproof" over and over, and the boys are able to well articulate what a real, God centered marriage and family looks like, even to the point they can spot when other families are dysfunctional for lack of Christian values. They love this stuff!
