Has coming to this forum, and reading other people's posts , thoughts, and argument ever changed your mind on what you perviously believed?

If we all come with a closed mind, what good do we do for each other?

I think in all the years that I have been here, I have only seen about two people mentioned that they have learned something from someone else!

I can say - I HAVE. There are about five brothers over the years ( some no long posting) but some still here, that I have learned from , and have caused me to 'pause'.
I do get blessed and challenged my some of the posters. :)

Changed my mind. When I first came here I still saw Jesus on the cross. I’d never considered the resurrection fully even though it was right in front of me...I still saw Him hanging there. The rapture ...probably a lot I’ve forgotten but had a definite impact. reading others struggles, thoughts, Love for Him and persistence...encourages and inspires you to keep seeking, even if you don’t always agree with them. Still days I forget and return to thinking it is pointless since few agree, but then someone post something that reminds you there is a positive side.

It saved Noah and his family. Soooo you are wrong on that account. Noah being saved by water was equated to being saved by baptismal water. Soooo you are doubly wrong.

Water saved and entire nation sooooo you are wrong a third time. (Exodus 13)

No one can enter the kingdom of heaven unless he is born of water and the Spirit so you are wrong a 4th time and your opinion is completely OPPOSITE of what Jesus said.

Scripture says baptism washes away sins. If your sins are washed away (you have no sin) you are saved sooooo that makes you wrong a 5th time. (Acts 22:16)

Thanks for chiming in with your opinion. I will stick with the 2,000 year teaching of The Church instead of the 500 year teaching of the Reformation.

John goes on to describe in some detail the Holy City, New Jerusalem, that will come down out of heaven from God.
He says, “the city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width;… fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal” (Revelation 21.16).

Now, how you can make any other shape but square out of that I don't know.

The Bible compares the rapture to several events, including Noah.

The point is in every issue the people were removed from the place at issue and the cause of destruction.

The place for Noah was the land and the cause water.

They were removed from the land by being on top,out of, the water.

You're trying to turn a square into cube.

No it has made me dig in even more. Now other forums have made me think and change my mind on things, but here there is so much attacking that unfortunately I joined in on that. I have found that on most forums we usually come to argue put that together with the fact that I am religious and not ashamed of it and on here that is a bad thing.

It doesn't feel safe here with so many attacking so many dig in like myself and attack back. Even on this thread the attacks start. For instances I know someone will attack me for this, I am not a Bible only person but for most here that is the height of blasphemy

Just try to feel sorry for those who attack. :)

After almost 20years on Christian forums my skin has still not totally thickened.
I think if we ever come to the place where it doesn't ever bother us..then I guess we have got as hardened as them!. Stay tender.

We are all different, and we all respond differently.
I expect you saw on this thread someone called me 'touchy and feely' ..(negative comment) ..but that's fine. I don't want to become stiff and hard as some.

I'm glad that you are here, we need people that balance out those who enjoy arguing. :)

Time for honesty. I didn't come here to change anyone else, and certainly not to be changed. 'Brakelite' is merely a signal light for others to pause, sometimes stop, and consider alternatives. I am here to offer a choice. Some would say we don't have any, that whatever we do was preordained. For me, it is up to them to either turn back, dodge, plough on through, or detour.
Have I changed? Perhaps grown, perhaps become more sympathetic to others positions because we are all different and all come from different backgrounds and are shaped by different life experiences. Someone in our group Bible study yesterday said we should preach the gospel in such n/such a way. So I asked the group, numbering around 20, how many came to Christ in that manner. No-one put their hands up. We are all different. But Truth is truth...we come here convinced we have a handle on at least some truth right? So to be convinced otherwise...to be convinced that the 'truth' we have been cleaving to for 50 odd years and thinking that our superior study techniques and life experience affords us an advantage over everyone else here leading us to that 'truth', can be a difficult proposition to tackle...even the holy Spirit struggles to convince people of sin, righteousness, and judgement...what hope have we. So, I shall remain a brakelite. Hopefully encouraging people to think of a few alternatives before they crash and maybe burn.

It was the Ark which saved Noah. See my thread on Noah's Ark. The water was necessary to keep the Ark afloat, but safety was within the Ark ( a type of Christ) not the Deluge. Without the Ark Noah and all the occupants of the Ark would have been destroyed.

A "City" twelve thousand furlongs high sounds like one very strange literal "city" to me!!!

Water is what God used to wipe out all life on land.

The Ark was a construction commanded by God that Noah built. Your talking as if the Ark were alive.

The Bible compares what humanity was like just before destruction in the flood and Sodom and Gomorrah. The comparison is God removed Noah, Lot and the church before God brings down destruction and judgment.

The Ark is never called a type of Christ.

Peter compares what happened with Noah to baptism in the symbolic sense of rising out of death with Christ.

The water saved no one in the flood or salvation.

The KJV is a poor translation on this issue.
