The cross did not mean that we finally had access to the Holy Spirit.
Neh 9:20 “You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them,
Your manna You did not withhold from their mouth,
And You gave them water for their thirst.
I believe that problem was always that we didn't want to seek the Lord by faith and listen to Him, but instead we have always not wanted to believe in the Lord so we wouldn't have to listen to Him correcting us. That is to say that we are disobedient and have rebelled against Him to this very day and are unwilling to consider that about ourselves.
Neh 9:26 “But they became disobedient and rebelled against You,
And cast Your law behind their backs
And killed Your prophets who had admonished them
So that they might return to You,
And they committed great [blasphemies.
So the solution must be to consider how we ourselves are, repent, and actually seek His voice, correction, instructions, and relationship He has for us, via His Holy Spirit
