When we feel the pain so sharply in us, I expect that it is that "new man" within that is hurting within us. We remember when he approached Lazarus lying dead in the tomb, it is written:

    "Jesus wept." John 11:35

Jesus weeps for us when we stumble, but there He is always ready and willing to extend his hand and lift us back onto our feet. Before we knew Him He loved us... but now the Love is within as is the compassion... found now in our Heart:

That song brings back very fond memories of my church growing up. We always sang the old hymns.
I do agree with the Love within us...it changed my heart...rather I believe I got a heart transplant. :)

What a beautiful thread. Thank you.
And it was lovely reading through all the scripture verses.

@farouk is "on a roll" as they say...lovely quote from Spurgeon too.

The first post I read on here was @firstthings1st. new thread -
    Close To Him
Which was also a lovely breath of fresh air.

    Bless you... Helen

More of my favorite heart scriptures:
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
    (1 Samuel 16:7)
“For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks”(Matthew 12:34)
I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” (Jeremiah 17:10)

    Even so...!
It is few places that regularly sing those old hymns any more.

"And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:" Ezek 11:19

Hi again; I hope you can modify your work schedule to something less stressful.

Do you find that your prayer/Bible reading time can be crowded out when you're stressed in that way?

    Hi Farouk ,
I cannot really do much about the demands some weeks, thankfully I can cope most of the time - much of the stress comes with the reality that my body is getting older and I have reacts to a very physically demanding job. Also I need to support my dad outside work - that also is something I cannot change. It's just how it is at the moment - I can retire in five years time.
Yes it does have an impact on my ' reflective ' times- but that is down to me - none of the above can be used as an excuse - tiredness can put me in a ' can't be bothered mood ' sometimes ( just being honest ).

Some ppl of course find the time during the day or a night shift to smoke outside, when stressed (which I don't recommend) but it shows that even 5 minutes during the day can be used to read some Scripture verses, together with a private prayer.

Come and work as a housekeeper in a very big busy carehome Farouk - I don't smoke , I have 45mins break over my ten hour shift and that is usually with others as we go at the same time. I get your point, but you are presuming that I said I never pray, or reflect. When I say ' my reflective time' I am referring to my more ' in depth study and reflection/ prayer time ' I talk to the Lord internally on and off throughout the day - some days more than others as the shifts are busy and being on a demencia floor I have to be observant and aware.

Oh I wasn't presuming anything; I'm just speaking in general terms; I know I could organize myself better; hard though to read when sitting for hours in traffic. Yes, I'm sure your work is unacceptably stressful; a pity they raised the retirement age over there, right? (What do the politicians care about stress?)

I am not sure my job is stressful, It's actually quite enjoyable, and we have a lot of laughs and their is always good music on - it's a community. It's demanding and my muscles react ect, but when I am there it is like a vocation - that's how I see my job, serving the Lord with the gifts and abilities he has given to me.
The politicians are wanting to raise it even higher !

I do think a sense of vocation Godward is really a precious stimulus.

Though evidently tiring you do seem in that sense blessed.

PS: Just classical, or do you like rock as well?

I guess it has to be not too loud for the seniors you work with.

The music is for the residents , we have classical radio on in one cafe - then its smooth radio or CDs in other areas ( mainly music from the 1960's, 70's ect
It's the eras that many of us grew up in, so we all sing along. People with dementia love music, it is a means of connecting on an emotional level.
The residential and nursing flood of the home don't have music on as much.

, No , the music is put on for the residents , the older people - we only benefit because we happen to like it as well. Not sure I have ever heard hard rock at work !!

I grew up in the 60's and 70's - so I heard hard rock, did not like it much. At work we do not have hard rock playing, it's the wrong kind of music for the residents.

Yes, I can see it would and should even be geared to the residents...
