Are you a bird or a RAM? Can you endure the process?

Let's take a look at the covenant God made with Abraham:

Ge 15:9-10 And the Lord said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.

The Lord had Abraham divide the heifer, the goat and the ram...but the birds he divided not

15:17-18 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram...

We see here that the burning lamp passed between the pieces of the ram, goat and cow. This light exposed their inner workings. It exposed their deepest parts. However it just shown on the surface of the birds. Their delicate depths were not exposed because they were two small to be divided.

How about us? Are we able to endure the merismous? The "dividing asunder mentioned here?

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder(merismou) of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The circumcision of the heart mentioned here?

Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

The circumcision of the heart has a ready shadow and type in the circumcision of the natural. The male's most sensitive part of his most sensitive member has it's fleshy crown cut away. It is the same in the spirit. All of the flesh must be cut away to expose the sensitivity of the spirit. The soul MUST be divided from the spirit in order to hear His voice, see into the unseen realm and bring forth a true word of life.

So...are we like the birds? Too small and delicate to endure the cutting and therefore destined to show only a shallow surface? Or can we be as the cow, the goat and the ram....being divided asunder and able to expose the depths of a walk with the Lord?
