If there is one good thing that can be said about the netherworld: it's the
great equalizer. Political bullies like Kim Jong-Un, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin,
Benito Mussolini, Xi Jinping, Fidel Castro, Muammar Gaddafi, and Saddam
Hussein, are powerless down below; they're just more nondescript skulls in
the gene pool.

Isa 14:9-10 . . Sheol from beneath is excited over you to meet you when
you come. It arouses for you the spirits of the dead, all the leaders of the
earth. It raises all the kings of the nations from their thrones. They will all
respond and say to you: Even you have been made weak as we. You have
become like us.

Jesus once told a parable that advises folk it's wise to exercise kindness and
generosity on this side of life because people on the other side will doubtless
remember how you treated them.

The thing is: folks should expect to be the victims of a certain amount of
cruelty on the wrong side of the netherworld because down there what's the
point in being civil; so it's wise to cultivate lasting friendships up here so
that when you arrive down there, you'll have some friends instead of only
enemies looking to get even.

The book of life (Rev 20;12-15) was compiled prior to God creating even the
very first particle for the current cosmos. (Rev 17:8) But I don't think it was
compiled arbitrarily.

According to John 5:24 and Eph 1:13, it's necessary to hear + believe the
gospel to get one's name listed in the book. Well; there's reason to believe
that God is able to view the future. So way back before beginning to
construct the cosmos, He looked down thru the centuries and foresaw
everybody that was going to hear + believe. Having in hand all the
necessary data needed for compiling the book, God went ahead and got it
done and then turned His attention elsewhere.

Now, not everyone is going to be judged on the basis of hearing + believing
the gospel. There are untold millions who never heard, nor will ever hear
tell, of a Christ let alone his crucifixion for the sins of the world.

However, the beauties and complexities of nature, on earth and out in the
void, speak loudly and clearly enough that the cosmos-- all its forms of life,
matter, and energy --is the result of intelligent design. And the human
conscience intuitively knows that there is going to be a reckoning. This is
what's known as the everlasting gospel (Rev 14:6-7} and it has been
preaching itself to men all over the globe from the very beginning. (Ps 19:1
6 & Rom 1:18-20 & Rom 2:14-16)

According to Rom 10:18, nature itself is the word of God; and accounted as
a gospel. This is pretty cool because by nature's gospel, folks all over the
globe-- both primitive and civilized --can be saved. In point of fact,
ignorance is truly bliss in this situation because according to Heb 10:29-31,
folks who hear + disbelieve Jesus' gospel are in greater danger of eternal
suffering than those who know absolutely nothing about him.

(Can you just imagine the chagrin of an educated genius like Mark
Zukerberg doomed to the depths of Hell while an illiterate aboriginal with a
bone in his nose is carried up to the comforts of Heaven?)

In the story told at Luke 16-19-31, the beggar Lazarus died and was carried
by angels to the afterlife. Curiously, the rich man's transportation isn't
specified.

One of the most disturbing scenes I've yet to observe in a Hollywood movie
occurs in "GHOST" starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. When someone
marked for the wrong side of the afterlife passes away, these eerie
phantoms emerge, having the appearance of black oily smoke, uttering
awful moans, and drag their panic-stricken captives down into the ground.

I don't know if that's how the rich man in Luke's story was transported, but
if so; I can well imagine just how shocking and horrifying it must've been for
him at death to suddenly be able to see menacing spirit creatures
surrounding him with looks on their faces that could only convey but one
unmistakable intent; and I suspect those sinister beings had been hovering
around that poor man and stalking him every day and night of his entire life
without him knowing it and patiently waiting for the green light to take him
down.

Jude 1:9 relates a quarrel between the Devil and an archangel over the
disposition of Moses' remains. No one really knows what that was all about
but I'm suspecting that the Devil wanted to give Moses a pagan funeral, and
likely felt he had a right to seeing as how he sincerely believes himself the
world's supreme sovereign (Luke 4:5-6). So, I wonder if the angels that
provided Lazarus transportation were not also assigned as security to protect
him from being shanghaied by something similar to those dark mists
depicted in "GHOST"

Matt 5:8 . . Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

A rough-hewn definition of "pure in heart" is when someone is the same on
the inside as they are on the outside; which is just the opposite of
dissembling; defined as: to put on a false appearance, i.e. conceal facts,
intentions, or feelings under some pretense.

Dissembling is a very common form of dishonesty which is practiced by just
about everybody at one time or another. Most of us do not always want
others to know what we are actually thinking and/or feeling about certain
things. The very opposite of that is transparency, which most of us want
from others, but prefer not to reciprocate with transparency of our own.

Here's a really good example of someone pure in heart.

"When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true
Israelite, in whom there is nothing false." (John 1:47)

Jesus was pure in heart too.

"No deceit was found in his mouth." (1Pet 2:22)

I think we may safely assume there are no exceptions to the sixth beatitude,
i.e. no one is exempt; sincerity and forthrightness aren't optional with God;
they're mandatory.

"Who may ascend into the hill of The Lord? And who may stand in His holy
place? He who has . . a pure heart . . he shall receive a blessing from The
Lord." (Ps 24:3-5)

I obtain quite a bit of useful information from YouTube; for example how to
replace a microwave oven's motor, resolve a computer issue, and/or adjust
an electric guitar's intonation.

I also tour the world with YouTube, visiting amazing man-made wonders and
natural wonders too. I will likely never travel and get to see those wonders
for myself as they really are before I'm dead; but out ahead is coming a
one-thousand year era on Earth wherein I've no doubt there will be plenty of
opportunity to see everything in the next life that I missed in this one.

Rev 20:6 . . Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first
resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be
priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

I suspect that God is keeping a massive, fully comprehensive library that can
satisfy all my curiosity-- an archive of information far exceeding the contents
of the great library of Alexandria. For example: how did the ancient
Egyptians build the pyramids? How did the people of Easter Island move
those massive stone heads into position? Is there an end to space; and if so,
what's on the other side? Things like that; but also nature's secrets too. How
did nature fashion those remarkable rock formations in Utah? Or carve out
the Grand Canyon?

There are many mysteries like those that I sincerely hope to find answers to
some day. But people in Hell won't be allowed access to God's library. They
will never get answers to their deepest questions about the cosmos; nor be
allowed to travel to all the exotic places on Earth that they missed in this life
before passing on to the next.

Another benefit to the coming era is safety. I will have nothing to fear from
the animal kingdom like I do now, and plus; those of us who make the cut
will be immortal; so we won't fear heights, nor speed, nor any other risk. I
love to explore, but don't like to explore places that might cost me my life,
lose an eye, or put me in a wheel chair.

Well; in the future, I'll be able to explore every corner of the globe to my
heart's content in perfect safety and thoroughly enjoy myself without
worrying about hazards associated with the journey like piranha, head
hunters, frost bite, hypothermia, violent storms, hijackers, terrorists,
bandits, and/or shipwreck.

One thing that prevents many of us from touring the world is old age. Well,
diminished capacity will never again be a factor dictating what I can eat and
drink, were I can go, nor whether I can make it.

Rev 20:5-6 . . But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand
years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that
hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power.

People in Hell are not only in terrible discomfort, but they're also missing out
on the pleasures of adventure, discovery, and exploration; which are three
very stimulating activities that, just about everybody I've ever met would
agree, make one's existence worthwhile.

John 2:23-25 . . Because of the miraculous signs he did in Jerusalem at
the Passover celebration, many people were convinced that he was indeed
the Messiah. But Jesus didn't trust them, because he knew what people were
really like. No one needed to tell him about human nature.

The Greek word translated "convinced" is the self-same word translated
"trust". In other words; though people believed in Jesus, he did not believe
in them.

Well, his unbelief was justified. The same people who believed in him due to
his miracles are the very folks who later-on demanded his execution.

Oliver Cromwell-- who took the British throne away from Charles l, and
established the Commonwealth --said to a friend: Do not trust to the
cheering, for those same persons would cheer just as much if you and I
were going to be hanged.

The Lord wasn't looking for people's religion, nor was he looking for people's
piety and/or conduct on Passover night. He was looking for just one thing,
and one thing only: the blood.

That being the case, then had a Jewish family failed to apply the blood in the
proper manner, their first-born son would've been slain. On the other hand;
were an Egyptian family careful to apply the blood in the proper manner,
their son would've been spared because the The Lord is neither biased nor
prejudiced.

Along that same line; Jesus' blood will protect anybody and everybody who
applies it in the proper manner because he died for all; no exceptions
regardless of age, race, gender and/or religious preference. But many won't
be protected by his blood, because they will neglect to apply it at all, let
alone properly.

Although church attendance is oftentimes thought of as worship, in reality
it's not quite.

John 4:21 . . Jesus declared: Believe me, woman, a time is coming when
you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

* Jerusalem is the Temple site-- the very hub of worship --yet Jesus ranks it
below something far more important.

Real worship begins in the heart; as an attitude.

John 4:22-24 . . A time is coming, and has now come, when the true
worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of
worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship
in spirit and in truth.

The Greek word translated "worship" in that passage is proskuneo (pros koo
neh'-o) which roughly pertains to kissing someone's hand-- fawning and/or
crouching, and/or prostrating oneself in homage; i.e. reverence.

That all strongly suggests groveling; defined by Webster's as creeping with
the face to the ground, i.e. crawling with the body prostrate in token of
subservience or abasement; for example:

Matt 5:3 . . Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.

Matt 5:5 . . Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Matt 5:9 . . Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of
God.

No amount of church attendance, nor any amount of liturgy, can substitute
for the proper spirit in one's approach to God. If truth be known, there are
countless thousands of folk attending church with whom God would be just
as pleased if they went to a sports bar instead because their presence in
church offends His sensibilities and makes Him nauseous.

Well, since my baby left me,
I found a new place to dwell.
It's down at the end of Lonely Street at
Heartbreak Hotel.

Although it's always crowded,
You still can find some room
For broken-hearted lovers
To cry there in their gloom.

That song, by Elvis Presley back in 1956, was very popular; and useful for
depicting some of the conditions folks might expect in the netherworld
should they end up on the wrong side of things. For example: just as Elvis'
hotel always has a vacancy, so the netherworld too.

Prov 30:15-16 . . There are three things that will not be satisfied-- four
that will not say, "Enough"

One of the four listed in that passage is Sheol, a.k.a. Hades.

And then there's "cry there in their gloom"

Matt 13:40-42 . . As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the
fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth
his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend,
and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there
shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Heb 6:4-6 . . For it is impossible for those who have once been
enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy
Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of
the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because
to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God afresh and subjecting him to
public disgrace.

We know that with God nothing is impossible. So, I think we have to
acquiesce that the impossibility spoken of here is so because God has made
it His mission in life, so to speak, to assure that folks blessed with the level
of advantages spoken of here are never to be given an opportunity to
reconsider-- ever.

Matt 13:10 . . And the disciples came and said to him: Why do you speak
to them in parables?

Matt 13:11 . . It is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of
heaven, but to them it is not given.

Jesus answered their inquiry by referring to an incident in the 6th chapter of
Isaiah's prophecy wherein God had lost interest in numbers of His people
because they had lost interest in Him.

The Jews' spiritual condition was little different in Jesus' day, i.e. many were
called but few chosen, and that's because the many were indifferent; which
is not the appropriate response.

1Sam 3:19 . .The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of
His words fall to the ground.

FAQ: What is meant by soul?

REPLY: Soul began appearing in the Bible in the book of Genesis by the
Hebrew word nephesh (neh'-fesh) which isn't unique to human life. Its first
appearance is at Gen 1:20-21 in reference to aqua creatures and winged
creatures; again at Gen 1:24 as terra creatures; viz: cattle, creepy crawlies,
and wild beasts; and again in Gen 2:7 as the human creature; and yet again
at Gen 9:10 to classify every living thing aboard Noah's ark.

* God is said to have a soul. (Lev 26:11, Lev 26:30, Judg 10:16, Isa 42:1,
Jer 32:41, and Zech 11:8)

Soul is somewhat ambiguous but basically refers to consciousness, self
awareness, and individuality. It's sometimes a reference to one's heart, e.g.
Gen 34:3, and to the core of one's being, e.g. Gen 27:4.

All in all, soul is just another way of referring to that part of human life that
we call "self" which can be roughly defined as the who that you are.

Jesus' followers can expect to retain their souls when they pass on, but
things are not looking good for the lost. According to Matt 10:28, people's
souls survive normal death, but do not survive Hell fire. That fact gives me
pause to question whether people condemned to the lake of fire-- depicted
by Rev 20:11-15 --will be aware of their circumstances in an environment
that destroys both soul and body.

NOTE: Apparently the rich man of Luke 16:19-31 wasn't in the Hell fire yet
when he spoke with Abraham because he's depicted as completely sentient.

Deut 34:5-6 . . Moses the servant of The Lord died there in the land of
Moab, according to the word of The Lord. And He buried him in the valley in
the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to
this day.

A very curious scene unfolded during Moses' burial.

Jude 1:9 . . Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the Devil and
argued about the body of Moses, did not dare to accuse him of blaspheme,
but said: "The Lord rebuke you."

* Though the passage above shows God responsible for Moses' burial, the
actual labor was apparently assigned.

Anyway; if the Devil would interfere with the burial of a holy man like Moses,
then I think we can safely assume he (or one of his minions) probably
interferes with the burials of ordinary folk too; and I should think the
smartest way for him to interfere is to ensure the minister comes out with
nothing useful in his eulogy; but instead with the usual mushy rhetoric by
which nobody hearing it can be saved. (Just goes to show that the Devil is
not above walking over the bones of the dead to get what he wants.)

Ps 73:3-17 . . I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of
the wicked. Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their
end.

Matt 16:26 . . For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world,
and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

It's been my observation that many of the powerful folks controlling
education, finance, manufacturing, governance, entertainment, food
production, health care, pharmaceuticals, etc, are quite lacking scruples, and
conduct their affairs as if foreign sovereigns with no one to answer to
beyond the sphere of their existence. But of course they know something's
coming because God instilled that awareness within their ancestors' inner
being.

Gen 2:15-17 is a favorite among critics because Adam didn't drop dead
within 24 hours of tasting the forbidden fruit. In point of fact, he continued
to live outside the garden of Eden for another 800 years after the birth of his
son Seth. (Gen 5:4)

Some say Adam died a "spiritual" death, and that's true, but not entirely
true, viz: the explanation isn't misinformation, rather, it's missing
information.

Human life was created in the image and likeness of God. In other words;
human life came out of the box with immortality, i.e. with perpetual youth.
Adam lost immortality when he tasted the forbidden fruit, i.e. his body lost
its perpetual youth and began to age.

Adam's body became infected with mortality, which is a lingering death
rather than sudden death, i.e. mortality is slow, but very relentless: like
Arnold Swarzenegger's movie character "The Terminator"— mortality feels
neither pain nor pity, nor remorse nor fear; it cannot be reasoned with nor
can it be bargained with, and it absolutely will not stop-- ever! --until your
useless corpse is ready for burial.

Eccl 7:2 . . It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house
of mirth, for death is the destiny of every man: the living should take this
seriously. (cf. Luke 12:16-21)

1Cor 4:4 . . My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent.

Man was created with as near a perfect conscience as a creature can be
given.

Gen 1:27 . . God created Man in His own image, in the image of God
created He him.

But then came the forbidden fruit incident by which Man's near-divine
conscience underwent something that caused it to become humanistic.

Gen 3:22 . . The Lord God said: The man has now become like one of us,
knowing good and evil.

Man was able to discern between good and evil before his fall, but that was
by means of a conscience influenced by its maker. The forbidden fruit
incident altered Man's conscience to become his own influence, i.e. Man
became defensive, and he rationalizes a lot too. (Rom 2:14-15)

I think the writer of 1Cor 4:4 was well aware of just how tricky Man's
conscience can be so he was reluctant to insist upon his innocence-- a little
sophistry here and a little there, and even monsters like Communist China's
Xi Jinping and North Korea's Kim Jong-Un can be persuaded in their own
minds to believe themselves okay guys.

1 John 1:8 . . If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves

Jer 17:9-10 . .The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately
sick; who can understand it? . . . I, The Lord, search the heart, I test the
mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the
results of his deeds.

The upside is: Christ's crucifixion not only serves to save people from their
sins, but according to Heb 9:8-14 it saves them from their conscience too.

Matt 25:41 . .Then he will say to those on his left: Depart from me, you
who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels.

That's likely a reference to Rev 20:10 where it says:

"And the Devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and
brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be
tormented day and night forever and ever."

I'm not all that well-informed about the future, but I'm pretty sure that both
the beast and the false prophet are human beings. Well; if the Greek word
apollumi (Matt 10:28) speaks of nothing more than obliteration, then how it is
that those two guys are existing in the lake when the Devil arrives?

The thing is: apollumi is somewhat ambiguous. It doesn't always mean
obliteration, for example Matt 2:13 which says:

"Herod will seek the young child to destroy him."

And/or Matt 5:29 which says:

"It is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that
your whole body should be cast into Hell."

And/or Matt 8:25 which says:

"Lord, save us: we perish."

And/or etc, etc, etc. The list just goes on and on and on where apollumi
means more than obliteration, i.e. something always remains to reckon with,
for example Heb 2:14 which says:

"Through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is,
the Devil."

Rev 20:10 assures me that the Devil's destruction doesn't obliterate him; he
will be kept in existence to undergo perpetual suffering; and I think it's
pretty safe to assume that those on the King's left per Matt 25:41 will be
there too.

One of my favorite lines from the movie "Titanic" is when Mr. Ismay protests
that this ship cannot sink; and Mr. Andrews responds: She's made of iron,
sir! I assure you, she can... and she will. It is a mathematical certainty.

There are folks at large all across the internet, and around the globe,
sincerely believing that Hell isn't a place of perpetual conscious suffering.
They, like Mr. Ismay, will be utterly stunned and bewildered beyond
comprehension to discover it's exactly that.
