They arrive in Hell before judgement?

Here is the Final Judgement, the Day of Judgement. The DEAD are resurrected, so they have a bodily resurrection, and judged by God. Out of every place they are when they died. Nothing is excerpted or escaped from this judgement except for Christians who do not come under judgement and the second death as when they believed, they passed from death into life. Hell also has levels. A resurrection is where God brings together a body and a spirit to make a soul, a complete person. Their bodies are scattered in death to land and sea, and their dead spirits are sent to hell before the final judgement. An astronaut who dies in space is not excepted either.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Then they are disposed of in the Lake of Fire, if their names are not written in the book of life.

Death and Hell,Hades, are thrown into that lake of fire in Revelation.

Rev 20:13 . . I saw the dead, and they were judged, every one of them

That verse says that "every one" of them were judged. Well; I don't know
precisely how many every one will eventually number, but let's say that it's
100,000.

If each of these 100,000 cases were to take an hour to complete, we'd be
looking at roughly 4,167 calendar days, i.e. 11½ years-- that's if the judging
by a solo judge goes around the clock 24/7/365.

According to Daniel 7:13-14, John 5:22-3, and Acts 17:31, Messiah has
been designated to preside at the event. However, there's reason to suggest
that he won't be handling every case himself.

1Cor 6:2-3 . . Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if
the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest
law courts? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? (cf. Matt 12:28)

Moses was assisted in his judicial duties by a select group of Jewish men.
(Ex 18:17-26) It's possible that certain among Messiah's followers will be
recruited to serve as judges with him in the same manner, which will
expedite his case load considerably.

There's a few points related to that scene worth special mention.

1» According to Jude 1:14-15 the dead will be given a fair trial.

2» According to Matt 12:36, every word that the dead have spoken will be
used as evidence both against them and/or for them; not just their serious
words, but also their careless words.

3» The scene doesn't depict one future out of a variety of possible futures;
no, it depicts the actual future.

1Kings 22:18-23 . . I saw the Lord God sitting on His throne, and all the

said: Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said

. . .Then a spirit came forward and stood before The Lord and said: I will
entice him. And The Lord said to him: How? And he said: I will go out and be

Wow! That paints a different picture to the one I was always taught, that God would not get someone to do evil and He is not the author of evil. But according to 1Kings 22:18-23, 2Thess 2:8-12, Job 1, Rev. 6:8 And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
In these verses it seems the origin of the ideas, plans and the means to carry them out was God Who sits on the throne. What do we do with these insights of God the Creator? I can see why Maricon of Sinope (AD 85 - 160) believed that God had sent Jesus Christ, who was an entirely new God, distinct from the vengeful God who had created the world and as a result left the whole old testament out of his canon (possibly the first ever canon) and every NT book referring to this vengeful Creator as well. Anyway, thanks for your post. It's opened my eyes to what's really happening behind the scenes.

Agree.

I like your signature verse. Good one for THIS topic.

Romans 11:32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

/
Yes, I was excited when I read your post just now, well, Romans 11:32 God has bound..... so that God will have mercy.... because God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. Eph. 2:4&5.

Col 1:21&22 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight .... and verse 19 & 20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. Wow! there is none excluded from being reconciled to God according to His great mercy, for all things on earth and in heaven are included. This God has made peace through the blood of the Lamb, which will never lose its power, ever! To think that at any time this amazing God can turn to the accuser, Satan, and inform him that any repentant enemy who is alienated by their wicked works can now be reconciled and have peace with Him.
This is my greatest joy, that this Creator who has bound every demon (including Satan) over to disobedience has done this so that He will have mercy on all of them. The truth that, those who have been forgiven much, loves much. And where sin abounds grace abounds even more. I seems Satan is the prime candidate to love his Creator the most and be the greatest generator, stimulator and means for God manifesting His grace when he is reconciled to his Creator. Romans 8:38 & 39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 11:36 For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot released a sentimental song back in
1975 that speaks volumes about sympathy. Its lyrics are very touching.
Here's a few that I feel especially appropriate when talking about things like
sickness, death, and the hereafter.

Rainy day people always seem to know when it's time to call.
Rainy day people don't talk, they just listen till they've heard it all.
Rainy day lovers don't lie when they tell 'ya they've been down like you.
Rainy day people don't mind if you're cryin' a tear or two.

I sometimes wonder how much sympathy one can expect in the fiery
netherworld. I mean; sure they'll understand how we might feel about the
unfortunate circumstances in life that led us down there, but once you're
there, everyone's pretty much in the same boat and the others are all
longing for sympathy too.

In point of fact, I'd not be surprised if the competition for sympathy down
there is on the level of dog eat dog; and likely a fair number of sympathy
hoarders demanding total market share of it. I can just hear their feigned
indignity; like this:

"Oh, stop whining already! Don't be such a baby. I deserve a lot more pity
than you. I've been down here for two millennia and you've only been down
here for a decade. What've you got to cry about? You should be grateful that
your time down here is shorter than mine."

I'd imagine that after a few years in that place the only sympathy that
people can feel after a while is sympathy for themselves because nobody is
getting out down there; they're all lifers so it's not unlikely that the only
humanity that inmates pay forward in that place is misery.

Matt 7:13-14 . . Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and
broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But
small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find
it.

Matt 22:14 . . For many are called, but few are chosen.

Few and Many are relative quantities regardless of their amounts.

For example; no matter how many people are represented by the great
crowd depicted at Rev 7:9-10, their number will be less than the number of
folk represented by the dead depicted at Rev 20:11-15.

In other words: the number of people ultimately saved will be less than
those ultimately lost no matter how big or little their respective numbers
turn out to be.

1Cor 1:26 . . Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were
wise in the world's eyes, or powerful, or wealthy when God called you.

Faith in Christ isn't an achievement like a Nobel prize in chemistry nor as if
one ran for public office or climbed a corporate ladder. None of us would be
an integral member of Christ's body were it not for God's incredible IQ and
His access to a remarkable variety of supernatural resources.

1Cor 1:30 . . God alone made it possible for you to be in Christ Jesus. For
our benefit God made Christ to be wisdom itself; he is the one who made us
acceptable to God. He made us pure and holy, and he gave himself to
purchase our freedom.

NOTE: If there's a Devil, then I think we can safely assume he's been doing
his best to make it impossible be in Christ; but God's free will trumps the
Devils' free will along with everybody else's free will.

Our Citizenship in Heaven

17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

The end of the wicked is destruction, BUT, for the 'brethren', people in Christ, our citizenship is in heaven. And only we eagerly wait for Him to return to deliver us from this present evil age in which we find ourselves. The unbelieving do not long for the return of Christ as this points to their doom. They have refused Christ and God's command to repent of their evil ways and doings and believe in His Son. They will be burned up and will have neither root nor branch left to them.

1 “For behold, the day is coming,
Burning like an oven,
And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.
And the day which is coming shall burn them up,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“That will leave them neither root nor branch.
2 But to you who fear My name
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
3 You shall trample the wicked,
For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet
On the day that I do this,
Says the Lord of hosts.
4 “Remember the Law of Moses, My servant,
Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,
With the statutes and judgments.
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
6 And he will turn
The hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

Righteous judgement of God abides on the wicked. They refuse to repent. No one repents unless God changes their heart. Only God can grant them repentance and at the end He does not do that as God has also placed on them a strong delusion to believe the LIE.

  1. Revelation 9:20
But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repentof the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  2. Revelation 9:21
And they did not repentof their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  3. Revelation 16:9
And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repentand give Him glory.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  4. Revelation 16:11
They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.

When that kind of judgement hits the wicked, there is no turning back from it.
This is decreed unto them by God.
God will pick for them their delusions.

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Isaiah 66:4
So will I choose their delusions, And bring their fears on them; Because, when I called, no one answered, When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight.”

It's one thing to discuss Hell from the perspective of an armchair expert with
no emotional attachment, while quite another when one of your own might
be down there.

My kid brother decided early to live life on his own terms and not allow
religion to get in his way. As a result, he was secular his entire life before
passing away back in March of 2016 at 71 of pancreatic cancer. Well; if
there's a Hell, it's pretty certain my brother is down there; and that
suspicion has a very strong effect on my thoughts and feelings about eternal
suffering.

The thing is; my brother isn't just another nondescript skull in the gene
pool: he's my kin, my very next of kin actually, We were born the same
year: me in January and him in December. We grew up in the same home,
were nurtured by the same parents, ate the same foods, attended the same
church, and slept in the same bed for a while till dad got us some bunks. We
had mostly the same friends, and kept each other company and were
playmates together for quite a few years throughout childhood. Our life
together as juniors joined us at the hip, so to speak: forging a lifelong bond
that no amount of disagreement had ever broken.

My brother is a pretty tough guy, but Hell is designed to break people down,
and I fear that today my once-fearless adventuresome brother is now a
squeaky little whimpering gerbil wishing he'd taken an interest in religion
when it mattered the most.

There's an incident depicted in the 16th chapter of Luke wherein folks on
both sides of the afterlife are able to communicate. Well; I hope that's still
possible because I'd really like to visit my brother as often as I can before
he's transferred to the lake of fire depicted by Rev 20:11-15 because after
that, it's very likely I'll never get to see him ever again. And it appears from
Rev 21:3-5 that we're in for a memory wipe so I'll not even remember his
name and it'll be like he never existed; which is actually a blessing because
it would be very unpleasant to have thoughts of my kid brother haunting me
forever.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Don’t believe I have ever known natural siblings born in the same year, that were not from the same pregnancy.

Sad about your brothers plight of a physical disease, and very sad of his passing without salvation.
You mention a an “intermittent” time in Hell, of folks (saved and unsaved) communicating.

I believe, that “WAS” the case, and applied expressly to departed (saved and unsaved) living “SOULS” (not body’s).

I do not believe, “SAVED” departed souls, continue to occupy “one side” of the great gulf, (in Hell) which at one time separated the departed (saved and unsaved) souls of men.

Further study of Scripture reveals, Jesus IS First “in all things”.
Saved souls IN Hell, were there, “in waiting”, not only, for Jesus’ soul to be visibly seen (by mens souls), but for mens souls to visibly see and notice Jesus’ soul departure from Hell.
Once Jesus’ soul RETURNED to Heaven, so ALSO could every “restored” (ie Saved) soul return to Heaven, to Gods Kingdom, from whence that soul came.

I believe
* the Living still tend to the burying of dead bodies…
* Departed Living Saved souls are “carried, escorted” (by Holy angels) to Heaven, to wait for their body’s to be risen up glorified.
* Departed Quickened Living born again spirits are “carried/ escorted (by Holy angels) to Heaven, to wait for their body’s to be risen up glorified.

* Departed Living unsaved souls are “sent” to hell, separated from God, wait in hell for their judgement day.
* Their natural spirit (ie truth in their heart), died with their natural body and was buried.

* I do believe you (still bodily alive) grieve, mourn, miss your brother, as do others who are alive, remember their dead loved ones…
* And agree:
~ Once you experience physical death, your memory of brother will cease.
~ Once you experience the raising up of your glorified body, your memory of mommy, daddy, siblings, etc. relationships and the sadness of not seeing them, will cease.

The good news for manKIND is:
God is Good.
God is Full of Grace.
God is Just.
* Men who freely Choose God shall “Live eternally” with God, void of pain, sorrow, etc.
* Men who freely Reject God shall “NOT Live eternally” … they also void of pain, sorrow, etc.

The reality is: As long as a man’s BODY is alive, it has a Living soul in it…and (regardless if that body has a natural spirit or a born again spirit)… that body, and that living soul, existing upon the Face of the Earth….Does, Will, Shall, experience Pleasures; Beauty, Comforts, etc.
AND
Tribulations; Hardships, Fears, Diseases, Dis-Comforts, etc.
No man is “excepted”…

I have had loved ones pass away. While I am still naturally alive, I try to keep all the good memories of them present, full well knowing, that one day, such memories shall cease, and the relationships shall cease and that I will exist among all others in a relationship of God and Gods People.
(2 Cor 6:16)

God Bless you,
Taken

Education and/or a high IQ have their uses; but are insufficient when it
comes to spiritual matters. In point of fact, too many smarts can actually be
an impediment. Take for example Carl Sagan. Had his knowledge and his IQ
been a spiritual advantage, then Carl would've stood on the side of
intelligent design instead of opposing it.

It's tragic that Carl went to his grave with his curiosity and so many
scientific questions about the cosmos unanswered, and to top it off, a day is
coming when even Carl's pale blue dot will no longer be available for study.

"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall
not be remembered, nor come into mind." (Isa 65:17)

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first
earth were passed away." (Rev 21:1)

Can you imagine how delighted Carl would've been to explore Heaven's
libraries where everything to know that can be known about the cosmos is
stored? But alas, Carl will never find out because he was at best an agnostic,
at worst an atheist.

2Cor 5:11 . . Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;

The Greek word translated "knowing" means to know firsthand, viz: by
experience rather than by education and/or instruction.

In other words: there were incidents at various times in the lives of Paul and
his contemporaries when God frightened them, i.e. scared 'em out of their
wits.

Well; there's nothing like a good old fashioned close encounter of a third
kind to convince even the most resistant skeptics; and Paul's history attests
that his was a really stubborn case.

Of course if any of us were to claim we've experienced the terror of the Lord,
we'd be singled out as kooks and crackpots; but for some of us, fear is the
only persuasion that works.
