I was born into this christmas celebration. Is december 25th the true date of the birth of Jesus Christ?
We even have documents from the 4th and 5th centuries of people that have no idea when he was born, so very early on: nobody knew. It's not surprising because keep in mind, celebrating birthdays was not something the Jews ever did, they had no reason to document it.I was born into this christmas celebration. Is december 25th the true date of the birth of Jesus Christ?
Hello Judd,
No, December 25th is not the true date of the birth of Christ. His true birthdate was lost somewhere in the annuals of time. Nevertheless, December 25th was set aside as a day to celebrate His birthdate. Despite that it is not His true birthday, I see nothing wrong in choosing a date to remember the day He came into this world incarnate as a man.
In Christ,
Selene
Christ's birthdate is not lost, it's in Scripture. He was born our September 29. December 25 is the date of His conception. Do a search of this forum and you will be able to read several studies on this topic.
Where in Scripture does it say that Jesus was born in September 29th?
Luke
Luke? What chapter and verse does it say that our Lord was born on September 29th?
Did you do the search of the forum I suggested? The answer is here if you want to learn.
Luke
An answer I'd expect from someone that has absolutely 0 proof.
T, did you do a search of this forum, the answer has beeen taught several times over the years. You will also find the answer in Luke "if" you are willing to study. Are you willing to study? Of course, if you are looking for the word "September" like some are, you will have trouble finding it.
I'll give you a starting place, read Luke 1.
I did Google it and the entire methodology is based on a TON of assumptions, which Scripture doesn't support.
So once more answer the actual question. Where in the Bible is September 29th listed?
Ah, so it doesn't.The studies are here on CB so you need to do a search of CB. Read these old posts:

Study I entered a long time ago, when the forum was on a different server so the formatting might not be correct any more. http://www.christian...h__1#entry61634
Ah, so it doesn't.
Alright, I'm trying to humor this but I haven't gotten very far and I see some assumptions made that I don't see in the Bible.
1) Each priest serving a week and changing out on the Sabbath (Is this referenced elsewhere in the OT?)
2) The first course starting a week after the Feast of the Tabernacles
And from there the issues become... What's the methodology of dating between the Hebrew calendar and ours? Seems to be more assumptions, maybe this was already researched and accurate, but it's just stated as fact.
Perhaps if you could clear those starting assumptions up it'd warrant additional research but it's pretty fruitless to continue studying when your entire dating starts from these points: and if they are wrong or just assumptions, disproves the entire theory.
That's what I was reading and that's where the assumptions were made.Apparently you didn’t read the information on the Course of Abia in gervais’ study but instead you want me to do it for you. Do you know which calendar the Hebrews used? There are common dates in there calendar and ours. Do you know what they are?
That's what I was reading and that's where the assumptions were made.
As I said, I didn't even get very far before I have to have these assumptions addressed.
I don't know what assumptions you are referring to. The courses for the Leviticus Priesthood are facts, they were divided into courses and they served in the same courses every year, year in and year out. You can read about them in 1 Chronicles 24. The course of Abia was always at the same time of the year. And their calendar always started on the same day of the solar year, the spring equinox.
Read my old post from the Companion Bible for additional information.
Yes, 1 Chronicles 24 establishes the order and that's about it. My question is one that pertains to the most important aspects... The timing.
Where's it say they changed every week? No scripture reference was provided.
Where's it say the courses reset after the Feast of the Tabernacles? No scripture reference was provided.
