Reader,

Paul teaches us that even tho we are in a human body, we the born again, are able to live apart from carnality, and stay there.

This carnality, Paul states in 2 Corin 10, is to be found....: "warring after the flesh".

That means you are fighting inside your own mind, in a battle against wanting to enjoy lust.

= "Flesh" is "lust".
="works of the flesh are carnal lusts"

To be "in the flesh", is 2 fold..
It can mean......"broken faith, having fallen from Grace", and it can mean.. "trying to do right and strive against carnal desires by willpower".

Now, simply put......Paul says that when you are trying to be good and not lose your salvation......its because you have exalted wrong faith, in place of the "True Knowledge of God's Salvation".... that is Right faith.

Its really that simple....
See, to "fall from Grace".. means....>>>"i use to completely Trust in Christ alone = to keep me saved and get me to heaven".....but somewhere along the way, i lost that real faith, and now i have put my SELF Righteousness in place of God's Righteousness. And so, REAL FAITH... is to only and always believe that "Jesus who saved me, keeps me saved".

Wrong faith, or broken faith, does not BELIEVE that Jesus always keeps you saved.

Its like this reader.
If you believe that you can lose your Salvation, then you are up on the Cross trying to keep from Losing it, and Jesus is ripped off the Nails by your Self Righteousness.

See that?
So, that is how a person "falls from Grace"..... and becomes trapped into "performing to try to stay saved" or "performing for God, so that i dont lose my Salvation".. has become your broken FAITH..

A.) That is BROKEN FAITH.. that is to become "fallen from Grace".

That is the STATE of MIND< whereby, the person has become their own Savior, and Jesus is set aside.

Reader, if you believe you can lose your SALVATiON, then that is because you dont Believe that Jesus who SAVED YOU< who is The only SAVIOR... is yours.
You've "fallen" from that FAITH...
See it?'

So, once you are fallen there, then you are now "warring against the FLESH"< that is regarding your mind, which has lost real faith in Christ.
YOU, have not lost your Salvation, you have lost your Faith, which causes you to BELIEVE you can lose your Salvation..... and now you have become a person who is trying to EARN and KEEP your Salvation, that is only and always a GIFT from God, that can't be earned or kept.
It is RECEIVED by FAITH, and that is Eternal once you have God's "Gift of Salvation.""

So, to "war against the flesh".. is to fight against the correct understanding that : "Jesus who saved you, keeps you saved".
And once you are that one, you are in unbelief..... you are become SELF RIGHTEOUS... and that means that you are trying to be Righteous before GOD, by SELF Effort.

That is "SELF... Righteousness" and that is not God's Righteousness.

Paul and Jude both remind us that we have to maintain the FAITH.. the REAL FAITH...... that GOD has made us RIGHTEOUS, based on JESUS's Sacrifice...
This has to be maintained as our REAL FAITH., and if this slips away, then you become "fallen from GRACE"....which means your faith is broken.
Its wrong.
So, We literally have to maintain RIGHT FAITH, all the time, or our FLESH that wants to promote SELF Righteousness, will war in our Head, against God's Righteousness, that is "by Faith alone">. , or your "mind of the FLESH" will overcome and break your faith... = "fallen from Grace". "in the FLESH"..

We are to check our faith.....and look at it, and maintain a REAL FAITH that always TRULY BELIEVES, that "JESUS is Salvation".. not our Trying to earn it, or perform for it, to try not to lose it.

Reader if your faith is right... if its real = then you will BELIEVE that "Jesus who saved you, always keeps you saved",, as How can He not, as He is the only Savior....
You will REJOICE in this GIFT of Salvation..
But if your faith is "fallen" or broken, then you will not believe that Jesus Keeps you SAVED, always.

So, in that case........ WHO DOES?

And now you see that you believe that YOU DO........and that means you are SELF RIGHTEOUS.. and have NO REAL FAITH in Christ, and that is why you are trying to KEEP YOURSELF SAVED, or you are afraid you can Lose your Salvation.

God help you to understand this SALVATiON reality, regarding "in the Flesh" or "in the Spirit"., so that you are alway "IN THE FAITH"< as both Paul and JUDE teach.

How to end the flesh? There's only one way: submit to the Holy Spirit.

Submitting to the HS..
That is a very obtuse statement., it sounds "spiritual" but its really meaningless.

So, to end the flesh, is to have the right mind, vs, the "" mind of the flesh.""
That's how you end it.

Here is how you know you have the right mind, vs the wrong mind of "the flesh"

1.) You will never again believe that you can lose your salvation
2.) You will never again believe that unless you are confessing sin, you wont go to heaven
3.) You will understand that to be "in Christ" is to be "made free from sin"
4.), You will understand what it means to have become "THE RIGHTEOUSNESS of God.. in Christ".

You will read 2 Corinthians 5:19, and when it says that God is not imputing (charging) you with Sin, you will understand WHY.

You will read Romand 4:8, and understand WHY God never again charges SIN to a Born again, "New Creation" "IN Christ".

You will read Hebrews 13:9, that says to "establish your HEART with GRACE" and you will understand what this verse is telling you.

First of the Spirit has had to help me understand what the flesh even is.

It’s all very well reading what it means on a bible page.then quoting said scripture, any of us can do that...

It has to come by heart revelation imo, not only has the Spirit brought me to understand my flesh, he is also helping me overcome my flesh.

He is the only one who can and will, help me overcome my flesh daily.

For me, it was truly understanding what the flesh was.

Flesh...is all about the selfish self...and is not interested one bit in the Spirit.

Another example of flesh is...being rude and throwing out personal accusations about another, that is the flesh talking.....certainly not the Spirit.

The flesh in me at one time, loved to argue....yes it did.

Flesh is full of pride and it’s own ego.....the flesh gets you nowhere.

Amen @SavedInHim .

It’s taken many years for the Spirit to get me to that understanding.

Submit to the Holy Spirit indeed.....I read that on the paper of the Bible, I also had to understand what that meant in my heart/ spirit.

Paul teaches that to be "in the flesh" is to have : "the mind of the Flesh".

This is 2-fold...

1.) The Believer, is vainly trying to stop resisting carnality, by will power.

This means they are apart from Christ's power, tho Christ is still in them.

Jesus defines this wrong mind as...>>"Apart from ME... you can do NOTHING".

2.) Then Paul Teaches, that to be "in the Flesh" is to be : "fallen from Grace".

And that means........... that where you use to have REAL FAITH in Jesus as : " Jesus saved me and keeps me saved".. now you have trust in yourself, as the "keep myself saved".

So, that is broken faith, and the ""mind of the Flesh""......The mind of the Flesh, tries to substitute your behavior in place of God's Grace, regarding why you believe you are accepted by God.

The Theological Term for this, is "LEGALism"......or "im trying to perform perfectly, so that God will have me, and keep me"... vs, the RIGHT MIND...= that only BELIEVES that : "The same Jesus who saved me... keeps me saved".

Short commentary.

What does flesh mean biblically?
"Flesh" is thus used interchangeably with "soul" and "body, " and credited with the emotions and responses of the whole person ( Psalm 63:1 ; 84:2 ). In some instances it carries the sense of self ( Lev 13:8 ). In short, the human creature is flesh in essence.

What does the mind governed by the flesh mean?
If we are governed or controlled “by the flesh,” that means we are trying to live by our own strength or under our own direction. Every day, we need to ask the Spirit to fill us and direct us. Life in the Spirit means that the Holy Spirit accomplishes what we cannot do ourselves.

I'm sure it does sound meaningless to you. You do it your way, I'll do it the easy way. It's not always easy to get to the point where you can do it, but when you do get there you just do it. It's not complicated. Go ahead and keep trying the intellectual approach, eventually you'll discover it's a waste of time.
