Colossians 1

12 giving thanks unto the Father, who hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.

13 He hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the Kingdom of His dear Son,

14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

Ephesians 5:5
For this ye know: that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.

Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king.
I really don't feel like answering this since so many others keep making the same statement. Jesus is the King of the Jews and will also rule over many Gentile kingdoms/countries during the eternal kingdom. But nobody has given me a quote where it is addressed to the Church and we are told that Christ is our King.

I Timothy 6, is written to the Macedonian gentiles churches

13 In the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession, I give thee this charge:

14 that thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 which He in His times shall show — He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

16 who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man hath seen nor can see, to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

1 Timothy 1

11 according to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, that He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry—

13 I, who was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and injurious. But I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

14 and the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love, which are in Christ Jesus.

15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

16 Nonetheless, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering as a pattern for those who should hereafter believe in Him to life everlasting.

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Well, Christ is the ruler of all the kings of the entire earth, that qualifies His kingship to all things in heaven and the earth, including the church. As Christ is the head of the church, that makes Him the king over all of creation as Christ did create everything that is and Christ sustains all things.

Colossians 1
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or [e]principalities or [f]powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

Revelation 1.

Greeting the Seven Churches

4 John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:

Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To Him who [b]loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us [c]kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, [d]the Beginning and the End,” says the [e]Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

The Parable of the Minas

11 Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. 12 Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten [e]minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ 14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’

15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16 Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ 18 And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ 19 Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’

20 “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. 21 For I feared you, because you are [f]an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’

24 “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ 25 (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) 26 ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 27 But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ”

Is there one passage in the Bible that teaches Christ is our (the Church) King? I haven't come across one.

Uhhh, The King is the one in Authority. It's as self evident as say...cell phones aint in scripture but it's a thing, a real thing.

If it's not Jesus who is in authority, who is it?

The next time I get pulled over by a cop can I tell him, he's not MY police? There's a sure fire way of trying on some cuffs for size! Lol. Are you a democrat or a republican? (Rhetorical). Who's authority do you recognize on earth? Can you not look around you and see the hierarchy of authoritarianism in our society? Of course you can! You are subject to the governing authorities. Now take me for instance. I am not a conservative republican, I am a Monarchist. Because I have lived long enough to be able to understand that, there is authority above my local governing authorities, and His name, is Yeshua Hamisiach. AKA, Jesus.

Surely you can see this too?

I am a Gentile Christian. I do not relate to Jesus as my King but my Spouse. Jesus is the King of Israel. So, Jesus is a King, but not my King. I relate to Jesus as my Savior, Spouse, and Son of God (God's Son). The Kingship of Christ is not the case with Gentile Christians/Spouses.
I relate to Jesus my Brother, who is also King.

Colossians 1:12-13 KJV
12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

We are certainly under Jesus' Kingship.

And while we are likened to a bride, and Jesus is likened to a groom, nonetheless, the one who was wed to God, who was divorced by God, and who will be rewed to God, is Israel. This is what is written.

The church is actually declared to be, not Jesus' bride, but His very own body.

He is to be the Firstborn of many brothers. My brother and my very best Friend, King Jesus.

Much love!

And thats what a husband and wife is, they are no more two but one. One body, the two shall become one flesh, as the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church (we who are many) who are one body under Him. As it says, so ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Can you give me,

Here is one for you.

Paul wrote this to Timothy, who is a Gentile.

1 Timothy 6:15

15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of Kings, and Lord of lords;

So this verse proclaims that Jesus is more then just a King.. He's King OF Kings.

If Jesus told you to do something, would you respond with, "Yes, dear"?
Actually that sounds very good to me. We will be on intimate terms for sure. Or, we could go with, "Yes sir, Your Royal Highness."

Yeah but He is still King on top of being all that.

When, what was his name? A King who chopped off his wifes head? (for cheating prolly, lol!)

Oh yeah, Henry the 8th! I'm Hen-er-ry the 8th I am, Hen-er-ry the 8th I am I am....
my wife was naughty so I chopped off her head now she henry's wife no more...

Ok here's a pop quiz for ya, lol.

You get granted a visit with Jesus and are taken up to the Throne room of Heaven and there is Jesus waiting to talk to you. Do you talk to Him like He is the King? Or like a Brother? Or like a spouse?

What do you do? What DO you do?!

That works for me. Though a more old-school response would be, "Yes, Lord".

I learned that the hard way! It was not funny. I felt the terror of God for a moment.

One does NOT question the Lord when He tells you to do something.

The correct answer was, Yes, Lord.

This one has some meaning for me:

john-15-15.jpg

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. - John 15:15

Though I'll probably stick with "Lord" 'til He tells me otherwise.

And I can hear the church bells at my first apartment in SoFla playing, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, waking me up on a Sunday morning.
