Hebrews 7:1-3 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Hebrews 7:9-10 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
Some things need to be recognized about this Melchisedec. Melchisedec is a priest of the most High God. Melcisedec is the King of Salem, which means King of peace. Please, notice how the interpretation turns that k into a capital K. This is no small thing here. He is also called a King of righteousness. Do not only the qualities of the Divine have such things? We know God the Father is without beginning of days, nor end of life – meaning eternal. We know God the Father has not a father or mother, not having come from anyone else. The qualities of Melchisedec are strikingly similar to that of God. Notice this also, Abraham paid tithers to Melchisedec. When did Melchisedec first meet Abraham? While Abraham was in the loins of his father. How can this be? I’ll tell you how.
Melchisedec is a priest after the most High God. Melchisedec is a priest of God the Father. Melchisedec is without descent, having not father or mother, nor beginning of days nor end of life. Who is the priest that teaches us all things, that will bring things to our remembrance, the author that inspired men to write the scriptures? The Holy Ghost. So Christ is made a priest after the order of Melchisedec, as Christ shall be an eternal priest, and an eternal King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, without beginning or end. Christ shall be a priest continually, as Melchisedec is a priest continually.
