I know many people may be tempted to think Revelation 12 is old history -- but it isn't. John says at the beginning and end of the book, that he's describing future events. I take him at his word.
I'm with you on this. The key to it being still future, besides Revelation being given and written around 95 AD and stating "must shortly come to pass" in Revelation 1:1, is within Revelation 12:8-12 "8And prevailed not;
neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.12Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea!
for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time."
They're kicked out of heaven for good this time (and this is after satan was cast down after his initial rebellion, then can go back and forth into Heaven from Earth with stories like Job and Joshua the Hih Priest). Knowing this, the devil and his angels know they have a short time, since they found out God created the Lake of Fire for them and Jesus won.
This is the grand finale, if you will, before they're thrown into the Lake of Fire.
A question I have then, is who is the child in Revelation 12, that was born and called to God's throne? Is this child alive, here and now, or was he here, and has been called up? My only guess is this child, is the same as John 14:26 "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.". The Holy Ghost could be alive and walking the Earth today, or was here in our lifetime. If this is true, why isn't he known?
