It doesn't matter.I believe the traditional English Bibles have been so badly translated that they actually teach false doctrine.
Take Hebrews 1:1-2, for example.
Hebrews 1:1-2 ESV vs. YLT
ESV
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
YLT
In many parts, and many ways, God of old having spoken to the fathers in the prophets,in these last days did speak to us in a Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He did make the ages

The gold standard? Who says that? And what does that actually mean?Everyone quotes the KJB the most. The KJB is the gold standard for quoting the Bible. I like the KJB and the NKJB the best.
You don't need to buy Bible software. I use biblegateway.com. It is an excellent source of multiple translations, commentaries, biblical dictionaries, etc. I subscribe to it (for a nominal fee).Do you have a bible software?
“…neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?” (Ecclesiastes 7:16)Read 'em all Patrick and hopefully you'll be the smarter for it.
how do we understand 'over wise'?“…neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?” (Ecclesiastes 7:16)
how do we understand 'over wise'?
Here is that verse in conventional English: "Do not be too righteous, and do not act too wise; why should you destroy yourself?" NRSVue“…neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?” (Ecclesiastes 7:16)
Jesus made an example analogous to Hell and said that the condemned would not get out until every "penny" was paid. Right?
You aren't applying your meaning equally. It means the righteous will have life in that age while the unrighteous do not. We can glean and discern that the righteous will live forever, meaning, all of the ages to come as well as what comes AFTER the age of ages is finished.
You aren't applying your meaning equally.
They think they wiser than they are my friend .Over: Beyond a limit; hence, in excessive degree or quantity; superfluously.
Wise: Having knowledge; knowing; enlightened; of extensive information; erudite; learned

If that were true it would not be under constant attack. A Bible that has been established for over 400 years as the written Word of God cannot be so easily dismissed. And obviously you have no idea about the corrupt nature of ALL modern English translations. Otherwise you would not make such a statement. The KJB is just one of many translations.
So quickly into ad hominem . . . it generally means you don't have a better argument, which often shows a lack of understanding. If you want to believe that our loving creator tortures his creation day and night without end forever and ever then that's your choice. I imagine he's disappointed that you think so little of him. At least you believe that he exists. That's a start.
do you think it could mean having a higher opinion of oneself than what is the truthful?Over: Beyond a limit; hence, in excessive degree or quantity; superfluously.
Wise: Having knowledge; knowing; enlightened; of extensive information; erudite; learned

What??? The King James translation has undergone several major revisions and hundreds of minor ones. If the 1611version was the word of God, why did He allow this to happen? If that were true it would not be under constant attack. A Bible that has been established for over 400 years as the written Word of God cannot be so easily dismissed.
