Is 2 Kings 23 an apt parallel to the current U.S. administration?

In 2 Kings 23 we learn that although God has declared that His wrath is coming for Judah, King Josiah does all he can within his sphere of influence to turn the people of Judah back to God. In particular, he becomes scrupulous about obeying God, and rids the kingdom of all of the pagan idols, pagan palaces of worship, and pagan priests.

Perhaps you might see parallels between this chapter and the present administration’s efforts within the federal government and within its sphere of influence.

Peace.

Note: credit for this parallel goes to Pastor Paul Leboutilier, Life Bible Ministry.

I said last November that Trumps election may merely be the eye of the hurricane of Gods Judgment. Just like Nineveh had a temporary sparing fo Gods Judgment with Jonah, we may have a pause with Trump.

As the church we need to be busy about our Fathers business in this open time.

Luke 21 is better...but commonly misunderstood...although it is not exclusively referring to the USA.

But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."

This is a picture of the core of God's chosen people and plan coming unto, being given over to, the Gentiles (all other nations), or rather all nations coming before God. Those who love Him (referred to as "Judea" are told to go ("flee") unto every nation ("the mountains"). Being "trampled by Gentiles"--is not a bad thing, but is an indication that Israel is the foundation on which the Gentiles now walk and build. The woe "to those who are pregnant and those who are nursing babies" is an indication noting the travail and labor pains upon those who are born from above, born again.

As for the USA, it is the a picture of the new Jerusalem come down from heaven: Discovered by Christopher Columbus (the namesake of Christ) who came forth by Santa Maria (St. Mary)...which sake on Christmas Day; established by 13; etc; the more perfect union and manifestation of good over evil--now occurring.

Thank you for the comment and reference, which has its points.

What I prefer about the 2 Kings chapters, which is missing from Luke, is that Josiah continued to exhibit steadfast faithfulness to God’s commandments. That message is just as important today: no matter what upheaval the world, and my world, is experiencing, we should actively practice our faith and trust in God.

Peace.
