I always answered direct questions about contraception, etc., but I never offered any information to the effect of
"If you want to get away with fornication, here is what you do..."

I think the fear of possible bad consequences is a good thing.
Sounds like you had a good balance of responses.

It seems because he rejected the duty of an husband's brother, very much an Old Testament Jewish state of affairs, which hardly seems to have been carried over to the New Testament.

Yes I know that. I was contemplating why the Lord took Onan's life. My conclusion was it was because he purposely spilled his seed

The death judgment for such was peculiar to just this family. (With poor timing, it can even happen unintentionally.)
My best guess

is because they were willfully obstructing the lineage of Jesus.

But the Leviticus laws are not punishable by death so it can't be that

Not much to elaborate on. Nowhere in the Bible is abortion forbidden, and that’s the law I go by.

There are horrible acts that aren't forbidden by the bible. Just mentioning them would be against forum policy. Too graphic
Does that mean such acts are acceptable?

The ones that asked.

One of my daughters would ask about that subject and, no matter how delicate I would try to be, she would be upset with my answer...! (She's married and has two kids, now.)
@Sabertooth

Upset? you mean she thought you supposedly told her 'too little'? or supposedly 'too much'?

(I'm sure you handled it well...)

Also, it would be good to know what these heinous acts not mentioned in Scripture actually are

Just the mention of such acts would be against forum policy and would probably get me banned
But its not hard to think of unacceptable acts that aren't mentioned in the bible

So are such acts ok to do because the bible doesn't say its a sin?
Another important point is that the bible doesn't say its not a sin either

Well, Jesus said that if we love the Lord with all our hearts, and love our neighbour as ourselves, then the whole of God's universal moral law is fulfilled. Therefore, if there are heinous acts that fall short of loving God and loving others, then they do violate God's universal moral law.

The very fact that you are describing acts as "heinous" means that they must break God's moral law in some way, and therefore must be mentioned in the Bible somewhere.

The real burden of proof is
"Where in the Bible does it say that the child inside of the womb is not a person/baby...?"

It doesn't say it in Luke 1:39-45,
"[After Mary had conceived Jesus, she] arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste,
to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias
and greeted Elizabeth [in her sixth month of pregnancy (v. 36)].

And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary,
that the babe [John, the Baptist] leaped in her womb;
and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said,
'Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears,
the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
Blessed is she who believed,
for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.' ”

You really haven't said anything, so I am not concerned with judging the acceptability of 'nothing'.
