You can lose it by acting against your own conscience. Read 1 Corinthians 8. Paul is writing about a man of faith who is influenced by a teaching that was contrary to his conscience. Whether right or wrong made no difference. He sinned against what he thought to be right. We must, and this goes for everyone, live fully up to the light we have and understand. If we believe something to be wrong according to conscience, like smoking for example, but smoke because you meet a Christian who smokes, you have sinned. And as Paul said, the Christian was the cause of him perishing. How can you LOSE eternal life?
How can you LOSE the promise you will never perish
How can you LOSE the idea that you will never hunger or thirst. and be assured Gods promise he will raise you on the last day
How can you LOSE the fact you who were dead are made alive. Not by works of righteousness which you do. But By Gods Mercy
How do you Lose the seal of the spirit. Gods seal placed upon you until the day of redemption (resurrections day)
How can you Lose the fact you have been adopted into Gods family. does he just kick you out on the streets and say do not come back?
more importantly., The wage of sin is death, How can you add any work, or works to make up for one sin. And finally Gods requirement is perfection. If you can not meet Gods standard at any time. How can you fall back below it to lose salvation.
God can unseal. They can be removed from the Book of Life if they are unfaithful.I know you know this, whenever someone's interpretations of passages conflicts with plainly stated, clearly written Scripture, we know their understanding is incomplete.
One of my favorite passages concerning this topic is the one you alluded to, that He has sealed us unto the day of redemption. He's paid for us, and put His seal of ownership on us, sealed to show we are His property, to preserve His right of possession until the day He comes to retrieve His purchased possession. Who is able to unseal what God has sealed? No one!
Much love!
@Wick Stick is correct. It is a ridiculous notion to teach that faithfulness and obedience is now acceptable when it was faithlessness and disobedience that caused the death of the Son of God.Nonsense.
Salvation is Jesus......
He is our Salvation., and that is why He is titled : Savior.
And where is Jesus, regarding the Born again?
He is : "CHRIST IN YOU, the Hope of Glory".. (Glory is heaven).
So, Christ is now IN the born again, which means that the born again Spirit is now "ONE wtih God".
THIS is the proof of Salvaiton, and its the STATE and STATUS of Salvation, and its ETERNAL.
What is Salvation, as related to ADAM the 1st?
its the restoation of ETERNAL spiritual UNION between God and man, that is created by the finished work of Jesus on The Cross.
This restored Spiritual Union between a forgiven SINNER and Holy God, is ETERNAL, because its created by This.......
A.) = "Jesus is the ONE TIME.........ETERNAL........sacrifice for sin".......because "God hath made JESUS... to be sin for us".
The way I see it, God's purpose will stand. There is nothing in the Scriptures that I've seen telling us God will remove His ownership seal from those whom He has purchased.God can unseal. They can be removed from the Book of Life if they are unfaithful.
Amen! The way I see it, God's purpose will stand. There is nothing in the Scriptures that I've seen telling us God will remove His ownership seal from those whom He has purchased.
Consider . . . as God has crucified our flesh with Jesus on the cross, are you saying God will resurrect our flesh back to life so we can live in it as though never regenerated?
We are not saved because of our works, we won't become "unsaved" because of our works.
Consider also,
Romans 5:6-10 KJV
6) For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Much love!
Did I say that? I don't think I've responded here since about page 5?@Wick Stick is correct. It is a ridiculous notion to teach that faithfulness and obedience is now acceptable when it was faithlessness and disobedience that caused the death of the Son of God.
Elsewhere, the "seal" is referred to as an "earnest." An earnest is a down payment on something, but it does include the idea that the transaction can be canceled. Albeit, if the transaction IS canceled, the earnest is typically forfeit by the buyer. There is some idea of an incomplete transaction there, and in "he who endures to the end shall be saved."The way I see it, God's purpose will stand. There is nothing in the Scriptures that I've seen telling us God will remove His ownership seal from those whom He has purchased.
You'd have to spiritually die (though that life is from Jesus Himself) and be fleshy resurrected. And the seal and the earnest are not the same, the Holy Spirit is our earnest, and we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. One is something He is, the other is something He does.Elsewhere, the "seal" is referred to as an "earnest." I still see it more in terms of adoption, though. Election pertains to the group - to the children of Abraham and his Seed. To "lose" salvation, one would have to leave that group. That isn't something that happens by chance, or because of a few bad decisions.
Even leaving may not be sufficient. One would have to join another, competing group. For instance, if one was to leave Christianity and become a convert to Islam... I think that might do the trick... although, Islam still traces its genesis back to Abraham.
Yes. I define spiritual death as separation from the covenant, so that tracks. You'd have to spiritually die (though that life is from Jesus Himself)
That's a novel idea. Don't think I've ever considered that one....and be fleshy resurrected.
That wasn't my reading, but I'm not trying to convince you. Ultimately, my point here in writing here was that Christians are NOT in constant peril of losing their salvation. And the seal and the earnest are not the same, the Holy Spirit is our earnest, and we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. One is something He is, the other is something He does.
The idea isn't so much about the possibility of losing salvation. And maybe for you there is the idea of it all being undone, but I don't see that being possible, given the statements made concerning those risen with Christ, those who are His childen. I wouldn't define God's covenants with Man according to human contracts. Men tend to break their promises, God does not.
Much love!
Like believers today, did the thief know the 1 Cor 15:1-4 saving gospel that Christ would die, be buried then rise 3 days later so that the thief's sins could be forgiven ? No.Oh...u are not using the thief on the cross as a support for your belief anymore....why not?
You are wrong, sir, not me...the Bible .....SAYS SO!!!
Using per-scripture >>FROM PAUL<<, list the verses that support your claim.By returning to a sinful life...per scriptures.
With respect U need to study scripture >>FROM PAUL<< that supports your claimU need a study of scriptures, with respect.
then you are under law not under grace. You can lose it by acting against your own conscience. Read 1 Corinthians 8. Excellent analysis, rebuttal then correction EGthen you are under law not under grace.
You can not lose those things.. If you could. they would be called something else
Your salvation is based on your faith in what Christ did. If your relying on what you do or not do. your faith is in self. not christ.
Your salvation is based on your faith in what Christ did. If your relying on what you do or not do. your faith is in self. not christ.
@Eternally Grateful
“…thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.” (Romans 11:20-21)
Sorry brother. I will promote the grace of God that gives eternal life to all who trust him with a living faith. and a God who promises to never leave nor forsake his adopted children. So Stop promoting “Once Saved Always Saved”.
again. does not support your self righteous gospel of works.“Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:” (Ezekiel 13:22)
Why would use use a passage concerning the nation of Israel vs the gentiles
No.What do you stand on faith for?
Salvation.
That passage has to do with salvation and how Israel must obtain salvation by faith.
Thats not what the passage is about. The gentiles stand by faith.
Israel can also stand by faith and be reunited to God.
Or maybe you are?You must have been blinded to this scripture by your theology.
