Is Sound Doctrine Essential for Salvation?

Christians hold that the devil in the form of a snake,

I don't.

See, "form of a snake'" is "be ye wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove" and that is not to become a snakeman with feathers... @Hobie.

That "snake" verse is referring to the deceiving power of Satan, as "Like a Snake"... Its symbolic.

See, there is in the Bible what is known as

And people who can't understand this, are usually found in a cult, because Cult's teach, often, symbolism as literal... allegorical as literal..

And that is because these people, cannot "rightly divided" the verses, or the Bible itself, nor do they even understand why they are supposed to do it.

I would suggest that most of these people are not born again, but are "religious but lost".

Many of them trust in Water and Works and Law and Commandments, to try to be saved and stay saved.

(That's how you spot them)., as well as others who are genuine Christians, but are "fallen from Grace".

Now, When Jesus has fasted His 40.... the Devil came to Him and took Him to a place, up high.
And that was not a "snakeman" with wings, flying Jesus "up up and away"....

And then... he took upon the form of a serpent in the garden when deceiving Eve by possessing a snake and in taking over it's body and speaking thru it which was part of his deception since satan has no physical body.

("those who separate themselves" is not referring to sinners in the world who were never joined unto the Lord in the first place)

Note... God gave man free will so if man wants to turn away from the Lord after having been born again, the Lord allows them to do so and does not "keep" them by overriding their free will and forcing them to continue walking with him.

Once saved always saved, aka eternal security is not a legitimate biblical doctrine and is not only supported by scripture but was not taught by the early church. It got started about the time the heretic augustine arrived on the scene and he was a pagan monk that started playing like he was a Christian when the roman empire made Christianity it's state religion resulting in the gospel being watered down with pagan fallacies.

Being Born again, isn't based on being Good.
Its a spiritual birth.
You can't end a BIRTH< by bad behavior, or unbelief.
Just ask you mother. And once you understand BIRTH, then you'll understand that born again, can't be changed, or stopped, or removed.

Its a BIRTH, created by God, not based on your being good or bad or indifferent.

Keep in mind that it's only been in the last 100 years of history, give or take, that universal literacy was of interest to mankind. Before that, the vast majority of makind was illiterate. A Bible-onlyl approach would have excluded the vast majority of mankind for the majority of time Christianity has existed.
