It's OK to be stupid, as long as being stupid doesn't put you in the way of the Devil (unaided).

Hi there,

So yes, I have come to the conclusion that I have been tempted to be so smart it is "sin". I have approached being smart from all kinds of angles, been too verbose and have complicated what I mean. All this I have done, in order to be assiduous in my own estimation. The problem is I have con-fused people, started to mislead them and not trusted God's chosen, when I should have. I am now trying to be far simpler.

The problem is, that the Devil is counting on people being wise in their own eyes and someone who suddenly wants to be stupid, gets in the way of his plans. Only by submitting to God can you both limit your ego (how ever smart you are) and resist the Devil in a way, that being stupid does not aggravate. Now, you laugh saying "who aggravates the Devil?" but it's serious, we are to settle with our adversary on the way (gospels, from memory). I can happily say I have made that transition, I no longer need complicated words.

Think about it: what are you going to have, if all you are is smart, once you reach Heaven? Is it really going to make eternity bearable? Imagine if you saw eye to eye with people instead; if you could think about a question meaningfully and not reply with something that proves you are not listening? I'm not saying you should criticise yourself, I am talking about honest stupidity - stupidity that does not attempt to change God's will, from what it was, to what you wanted it to be. In time the Devil will try (or attempt to), how much better if you are ready to say simply whatever the Holy Spirit wants? That's called "readiness"!

I hope this has been of some encouragement to you.

God bless.

Stupid…having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense.

Intelligence is subjective…meaning a person may be highly intelligent in one “aspect”….
But clueless in other “aspects”….
Perhaps musically phenomenal…but not a clue how to change a light bulb.

Also…lacking in communication skills can make an intelligent person “appear” dumb.
Sight of seeing letters mixed up, can’t read, for example.
Can’t hear properly, thus answers questions with unintelligent replies, for example.

Common sense is also subjective….
Basic common sense hangs on Right and Wrong….Regarding behaviors and works.
All will know Wrong toward another will result in a Negative Effect on the other person.
All will NOT know doing something with a Negative result, WILL repeatedly result IN a Negative result…and THAT is the common denominator of “stupidity”.
For example, asking a habitual proven Liar, to give his word to lie no more to you…and trusting with no proof of his ability to do so….
Is a putting of ones “common sense”, in a category of “hope” rather than a “common sense result expectation.”

Just sharing.

Glory to God,
Taken

I hope this has been of some encouragement to you.
Not for me hmn , as it is unclear what your true purpose or point is. It may be because I am one of those people you refer to as 'stupid.
I have schizophrenia
no wonder I cannot understand you, as you are experiencing something as severe as schizophrenia. It is beyond my understanding since I do not have that illness and have not experienced how bad it is. So, forgive me.
