Knowing about something and having the understanding of something are two complete different ideas. Having something fixed in your mind is different than just knowing it exists. Then what or how or who fixes it in your mind brings up a different subject all together. When we use the term 'fixed in you' we are talking about Holyspirit knowledge-understanding. Something the Holyspirit fixes in you and it becomes a part of your make up, your being.
For instance; for most of us when we hear something for the first time we don't really have knowledge of it, we just know it exists. It may take hearing it many times before it becomes part of what the Holyspirit is really saying. I think I know and then when I get some revelation I realize I didn't know it like the Spirit was trying to teach me. The phase "wait on the Spirit" comes into play more often than not when moving on in God.
A good example is when you were young in the Lord. Maybe you had a hunger for the word of God and things stood out to you as you would read and in time most of what you read would take on a different meaning or as you learned to study realized scripture can have many folds to it. It may be unfolding to you one way and in a year say, it had a different fold. Wonderful is the scriptures for your understanding and maturity in growth for the things of your father. That is how you learn your father. That is how he will lead you, giving you understanding and adding to it as you grow. (Line upon line precept upon precept, here a little and there a little).
There are many aspects to devine knowledge and understanding. The most important is; it is his knowledge not yours. Learning Him is learning his knowledge, and learning that knowledge is his not yours. He did not give you his knowledge to make you look smart, it is still his knowledge in a shared way of living.
Take the gospel for instance! The gospel is a God message, not man learning how to just present a message. When we can learn to present him to a world of lost knowledgeless-unknowledgeable souls (spiritual-death-knowlege-souls) it makes more since. It is a spiritual matter that is addressed by the Spirit. It has to be the Spirit or it just does not get addressed.
The Spirit can do what he does in a moment of time, a twinkling of time; man cannot do in a lifetime what the Spirit can do in a moment. Why would I want to even present anything less than Him. Simple question we can ask ourselves? If you have ever felt the conviction of the Holyspirit and the wowing in your chest, don't forget it because that is how every person born into this world is to come. There is no other way.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. - John 16:8-11.
