Man has free will, but it is constantly being eroded. Therefore the gift of God, grows in value. Moreover, because it grows in value, despite our free will being eroded, we are inspired to work, in ways we had not done before - that we might obtain the gift of God in fulness.

What do you mean when your write, "free will... is constantly being eroded"?
Being eroded by what?

The Cross of Christ is God's Gift of Salvation.

You Give God your faith in Christ, and God gives you His "Gift of Salvation" = that is Christ dying for all your sin on The Cross.

Yes, but do you cherish your gift? That's impossible without working for it!

Don't be like a doctor that says "I'll give you the cure" but doesn't first show the xray showing the problem - the xray is supposed to inspire you to ask for the cure, so that if the cure gets difficult, you won't give up.

Are you going to give up, because you can't have something by faith? Jesus doesn't want you to give up! Look at the cross: all your works died there!
