A more relevent question is why should God perform miracles for us?

Because He is God, and is the same yesterday, today and forever. Miracles are part of His nature. The relevant question would be how do we enter into His glory where miracles happen? Some of us just don't care to enter in. I hope I never become one of them - the lukewarm.

Until people are born again they are enemies of God and aliens to His family (Col 1:21). They can only become brothers and sister after the New Birth, but many will not obey the Gospel. Thus we have the contrast given by Christ about the narrow way and the broad way -- few on the narrow way, many on the broad way which leads to destruction.

Except the bible plainly teaches that God took 6 days of 24 hours to create everything.

Of course if you think that the day=1k years etc applies, then you should try applying that to other passages.
Jesus fasted 40 thousands years in the desert.
At the flood it rained for forty thousand years.
That Jesus is going to rise from the dead three thousand years after being burried.

Makes a mockery of interpreting the bible.

Interesting but it does not begin to explain why God has done miracles in the past or why he should do them now.

Jesus called hios miracles 'signs' as they pointed to who he was, without him needing to anounce it.
The apostles did miracles again to authenticate there ministry.

Prophetic time cannot be used when specifics are written. In this case "evening and morning" can only be determined as a normal day of 24 hours.

This is true even inside a prophecy. Take Daniel 8:14 He said to me, “For 2,300 "evenings and mornings;" then the holy place will be a properly restored.” This refers to the Maccabean revolt from 167 BC to 160 BC when at the end, the temple was cleansed.

Genesis 1 and there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

God is outside of time and space, they are his creation, yet he can tell what time it is.
