Yep that what the false teachers do by teaching eternal security and it's really sad to see them deceiving so many
Yeah poor Jesus telling all those poor people they will never hunger or thirst. They will never die. They have passed from death to life and shall not come to Judgement he will not might raise them and they have eternal life

Anyone can quote gods word. The Pharisee could quote the whole testament almost word for word

Does not mean it supported their view
Jesus said the Pharisees were righteous. Yet we had to exceed their righteousness, by accepting Christ as savior. I trust in Jesus, how about you. Do you believe Jesus?
I know by the authority of God's word, to quote Jesus's word, because Jesus is the Word of God.

oh I believe it

when it came to the law. no one was as righteous as the phariusees.

Thats Why Jesus used the best law keepers on earth to prove to us if you want to get to heaven yourself. this is the standard you need to keep. Which of course would shut down any possibility we could be righteous enough to earn salvation.

But what does that have to do with our conversation?

You have to understand what Jesus said..

anyone can quote the word.. it does not mean they have any idea what the context of meaning of those words are.

you will have to do netter than to just throw a few words out..

Do not negate the word of God. Everyone who says scripture is A: out of context or B: cherry picking, are not understanding. Ready - Scripture does not contradict Scripture. All scripture harmonizes. Not understanding the Word is the downfall of everyone who reads without understanding, yet, like you, believe you understand.

See, you just wrote criticism of me without one scripture at all, just your man sin brained understanding dribble, without the Holy Spirit. You wrote nothing.

I am not negating the word.

I am following the word

Just because you post a passage of scripture. and says this proves you right. does not mean it is correct.

I chose to follow the word..
Ready - Scripture does not contradict Scripture. All scripture harmonizes. Not understanding the Word is the downfall of everyone who reads without understanding, yet, like you, believe you understand.
so why do you make the word contradict?
See, you just wrote criticism of me without one scripture at all, just your man sin brained understanding dribble, without the Holy Spirit. You wrote nothing.

If I may. The pharisees, no one was as righteous as the pharisees is something to consider as we remember Jesus remarks about them.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Matthew 12

Matthew 23

Luke 3:7 He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Matthew 12:1-50
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.” He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless?

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Oh, yes, Jesus excoriated the scribes and Pharisees. But referenced them too about being too righteous.

Matthew 5:20 - For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Its possible that one day, when you understand this verse.

"all have sinned, there is none RIGHTEOUS.......no not one"............and you then look at what Jesus said...... you might begin to understand it.
Today wont be that day.... @Rockerduck

I have zero issues with Jesus. He has told me what to study and the meaning as the Holy Spirit teaches. You always teach from the flesh of your own understanding, What verbally has the Holy Spirit told you?
you and @Behold seem to be on a path of both thinking you are the one that knows it all.

why do not you both just talk about the word. not tell each other how they do not get it

Maybe we should consider that chapter 5 isn't admonishing or referencing our righteousness as comparable to the Pharisees in the positive sense.
Maybe consider verse 20 in a different light when recalling Matthew 23,33
You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?

Matthew 5:20 - For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
In regard to Matthew 5:20, this statement from Jesus would come as a shock to the multitude of people who had great admiration of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, for their knowledge of the law and seeming righteousness and holiness in external observance of the law, yet Jesus points out their righteousness was defective.

Paul makes it clear in Romans 10:3-4, "For they (Israel) being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who BELIEVES."

We see in the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector an example of those who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, yet despised others. (Luke 18:9-14) We also see this today with various modern day Pharisees. The righteousness that exceeds the "righteousness of the scribes and the Pharisees" (self righteousness) is the righteousness of God which is from God by faith.

Philippians 3:9 - and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.

Romans 3:21 -
But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22
even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference.

Romans 4:5 - But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works.

I guess my question is, how can a den of vipers asked by the great judge to consider how they shall escape the fires of hell ever be judged too righteous?

they were not judged too righteous.

The people who thought they got to God from their own righteousness. was told unless their righteousness exceeds the pharisees (which it did not) they had no hope

thus hopefully. they would turn to Christ.
