“The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” (Luke 17:20-21)

People have always assumed the end is approaching because things seem to worsen through each generation....at least to the preceeding generation. However, when you hear that now you should really pay attention. There is an outstanding article on this forum, written by Denver, in which he explains the Parable of the Fig Tree. In it you'll see that what will be the "last generation" began in 1948. Generations, as given in the Bible, are 40, 70 and 120 years. My guess would be before the 70th year - 2018.....Whirlwind

Someone I study with explained that verse this way:A Pharisee was the one asking, not a Hebrew and it a hostile watching - the "observation for signs." There are things that must happen before the end, so.....to a follower of Christ, we will notice them.In a following verse, (22), He began to discuss this with His disciples and then he told them what to watch out for. It will be as in the days of Noah, when the fallen angels were on earth and as it was in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah (26-29). In Revelation other signs are given and He wants us to be watchmen. We appear to be quickly approaching that time. :pray4:........Whirlwind

I don't concern myself with when the Lord will come back. Every single generation for the past 2,000 years thought it was going to be in their time. This is nothing new at all. He gave us all a job to do ... preach the gospel, feed the hungry, clothe the poor, etc. He may come today, He may come in 1,000 years. And besides, none of us know if we will die today. We need to be ready, but keep busy doing His work.

You are right to a point Peacebewithyoubut there is more to the Bible than that God gave us the signs and the parables and the truth of what would happen and told us to be watchmen for a reason the Good news is great and yes it is our Job to do as you said but it is equally our Job to prepare people for what is soon to come upon us soon so that they can put on their spiritual armour and not be fooled by antchrist(Satan) what good to plant seeds if you do warn others of the coming storm. thats going to attempt to uproot what you have planted? We must learn all of Gods word not just the milkhttp://www.christianityboard.com/parable-f...10815#post10815http://www.christianityboard.com/parable-f...ht=Parable+tree
