Not "Which is true." - that is , not proven true. Just "they say".

Nah. The foxes ALWAYS SAY , 'they say', that they are protecting the guineas/ the chickens in the chicken pen.
I'm interested in why they are effective for First Responders and not everyone else! The latest estimate is the masks are only 70% effective. If they were only 1% effective, a Government that cared about the people would have prescribed them. Here's a couple of studies.

More people die of aspirin (or other things associated with it) every year (20,000 deaths or more)
according to AMA, CDC, and FDA sites (i.e. the 'official' medical sites) ...
and if a strong athlete (a healthy person) takes ONE ,
they are bleeding in the brain within ten minutes. (microscopically, but still adds up , and with other things gets worse)

Yes, hydroxychloroquine is used to clean fish tanks. Works rather well, because of it's toxicity. This guy just took a little too much. Or maybe he had one of those other conditions that make one sensitive to the toxic effects of the drug.
South Korea vs. the USA. Why are they more effective than the United States? The ONLY difference is mask wearing. No,
I meant/ or now mean, where is any proof a mask is ever needed , or helpful ?

Logically speaking, since it can be spread by droplets by speaking/sneezing/coughing, the place your face is covered is better protected.
Instead it may well be better, best, and gooder and goodestMore available, if you're interested.
to look for what people DID during the BLACK PLAGUE, without masks, and their households were not touched by that or any other disease?
and as also happened AFTER the panama canal was rid of yellow fever and malaria (both deadly contagious diseases when allowed to be) ,
without drugs or masks.
and so, do you go with them, in error,About 1/3 of Europe died. That doesn't sound like a good result to me. And yes, they wore masks:

Trump repeated his endorsement of these medications during a Sunday evening press briefing, stating that the US now has a stockpile of over 29 million hydroxychloroquine pills.
"What do you have to lose?" he said repeatedly, at one point adding: "If it does work, it would be a shame if we didn't do it early."

Others within Trump's circle also have ties to Sanofi, according to The Times.
The Times reported that one of Sanofi's largest shareholders is Fisher Asset Management, a fund set up by political donor Ken Fisher, who has a history of donations to the GOP and contributed to Trump's 2016 campaign, according to NBC.
However, a representative for Fisher Investments in an emailed statement argued that the holding was not "material" in its size.
The spokesman said: "The company represents less than 0.8% of Fisher Investments' portfolio, and the firm's ownership is less than 0.7% of Sanofi.

A 0.7% stake in Sanofi was, as of early April 8, worth around $775 million.
Short-term side effects of the medication include nausea, abdominal cramps, and vomiting. Serious side effects or prolonged treatment include liver failure, hearing loss, and muscle paralysis.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned last month against taking the drug without medical supervision.
The CDC added that overdosing on the medication or taking it inappropriately could lead to severe toxicity.
Trump has a distant financial link to a pharma giant that makes the drug he's been pushing to fight COVID-19 — but it's probably worth less than $1,000
I didn't actually know if Trump had any financial reason to be pushing this potentially lethal drug as a nonprescription remedy for COVID-19. I just had a feeling that there might be a reason.
Turns out there are about 775 million of them.
