In 68 AD Rome laid waste to Israel... Which is why Jesus said...

Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: - Matthew 24:16

You're taking the entire thing out of context.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) - Matthew 24:15

The abomination of desolation is the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. This is where every stone in the temple was cast down, as was spoken by our Lord Jesus...

[sup]1[/sup]And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
[sup]2[/sup]And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. - Mark 13:1,2

What you express is actually the preterist view of the abomination.

The abomination has not been revealed yet! It occurs during the great tribulation!

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

This isn't talking about 70AD!

do we have to be so nit-picky that we let our beliefs on the timing of the rapture divide us? honestly, if the timing of the rapture is the only thing you disagree on then you have plenty in common.

edit: just read that the tribulation will be normal times. looks like i spoke too soon.

I tell you that Lot and Noah were shopping at the Piggly-Wiggly the day before their rapture! Haha!

Neither of them were raptured. Noah knew about the flood in advance and built and ark to withstand it. Times weren't normal for Lot, either.

Everyday times... Then sudden destruction... came on them as a thief...

[sup]27[/sup]They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
[sup]28[/sup]Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
[sup]29[/sup]But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. - Luke 17:27,28,29

[sup]25[/sup]But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.
[sup]26[/sup]And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
[sup]27[/sup]They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. - Luke 27:25,26,27

And as the scripture goes on to say... So the son of man will return.. In every day times, to take those of the earth as a thief.

The times were normal for those who didn't know the flood was coming. They were the ones swept away. Times were definitely not normal for Noah.

Times were normal for the people of Sodom, but not for Lot. If you think they were, I feel bad for anyone who visits your house.

Curiosity question, for those who believe in the rapture, what's going to happen here on earth that you would got to leave.....Do you all understand what the tribulation is?

Why would you think you should be taken somewhere when Christians in the past were not?

Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. - - Revelation 16:15

It is a matter of obedience to watch for the Lord to come at any minute and in any day. You guys can be disobedient all you want. You have your reward.

Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. - Revelation 3:3

Christ cannot come at any minute as there are things that must happen before that time,as for the theif, that dosn't happen for those in the light

1 Thessalonians 5:4
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

The tribulation is all about deception, not death and destruction....Still trying to figuar out why Christians are scared to go through it.....So you can lose your life, whats the big deal?

You are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief... That means if the day (the rapture) comes upon them they have nothing to worry about because they are not living in spiritual darkness.

Hi teamventure,

You are exactly correct, as what are the plagues except a correlation to a nuclear exchange? And the earth shall certainly experience those circumstances on a global scale.

The day is not the rapture.

It's all about obedience... God's word commands us to be ready and to watch...
