The speaker is edified before interpreting the message for others.

No, understanding is not necessary for the one with the gift of tongues. (1 Cor. 14:14) "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful."

No, that is what you say. Not Paul.

“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:4) (KJV 1900)

“I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.” (1 Corinthians 14:5) (KJV 1900)

I'm just saying, the Charismatics of today resemble those Jesus will tell to depart from him. Main line churches do not match the description.

Mainline churches today have left sound doctrine long ago. Is that who you represent?

Nothing wrong with edifying oneself. So?

Yes, if there is one to interpret, the church will be edified also.

None of this proves any cessation of gifts or that the one with the gift of tongues understood what he spoke.

Then you know your claims about them are false.

Now why would I say what I did if I knew my claims were false? Stupid statement.

All your mainline denominations have been around too long. Satan has been able to sow his seeds in them. My claims are true.

Creedal Christianity can not depart from the faith if they wanted to. They are locked in.

Read scripture for yourself and see. It's too important to let sectarianism cheat you out of God's word.

I have and do read it. Which is why I say what I do. You are the one complaining about Charismatics and you belong to some mainline denomination, and yet you accuse me of sectarianism. How warped is that?

You're the one who is running opposite from the Scriptures. The mainline denominations rely more on creeds than any other denominations. How warped is that?

I'm not a member of any church or denomination.

This is not true. The creeds hold them accountable to uphold the scriptures.
