“Be a purveyor of hope to men and women who need the power of the gospel in their lives.”

(Bill Hybels, Just Walk Across the Room, p. 139)

Muslims need the power of the gospel in their lives @Wrangler.

Do you deny that?

The crusaders were “armed, ready to kill.” And they did kill. Men. Women. Children. Muslims. Jews. Christians. They were not purveyors of hope. They were exterminators of hope and of human beings.

You won’t be a purveyor of hope as long as you are “armed, ready to kill” human beings - made in the image of God - “who need the power of the gospel in their lives.”

Give to Caesar what is Caesar's.

The specific Caesar whom Jesus was speaking about is Tiberius. Right?

He ruled over the Roman Empire from 14 - 37 AD. Right?

Tiberius was a pagan. Right?

Jesus’ teaching didn’t belong to Tiberius. Right?

Tiberius didn’t obey Jesus’ teaching. Right?

Tiberius didn’t live the way that Jesus taught his followers to live. Right?

Tiberius wasn’t a follower of Jesus. Right?

What belonged to Tiberius? What were the followers of Jesus instructed to give him?

@Wrangler refused to answer, and he tells us why.

”No matter the subject, it is telling when people refuse to answer questions. It reveals they know their position cannot hold up to scrutiny but are emotionally invested in their position, which is a form of IDOLATRY.

The Bible refers to such people as not have eyes to see or ears to hear. Modern lingo is willful ignorance.” - Wrangler

”Your refusal to answer questions shows you’re not standing for truth.”

There’s no but. Just because Peter‘s use of the sword was not what Jesus intended doesn’t mean Jesus had no intentions for his friends to have a sword.

Did the friends of Jesus use swords to kill their enemies?

AI Overview replied -

“No, the friends of Jesus did not kill their enemies with swords. …”

There was more to the answer but “No” makes it superfluous.

From my X / Twitter “Following“ feed this evening -

“As a former Muslim, one thing that used to confuse me was this:

Why do some parts of the Quran sound peaceful, while other parts sound like a war manual?

The answer is history.

The Quran comes from two very different periods of Muhammad’s life: Mecca and Medina.

In Mecca, Muhammad was a minority without political power.

The revelations emphasized patience, endurance, and persuasion.

In Medina, he became a political leader, military commander, and ruler. The revelations shifted toward governance, warfare, and dealing with opponents.

Most Muslims never realize these verses are blended together because the Quran is not arranged chronologically.

That raises an important question:

If the message changes as the prophet’s power changes, is it truly an eternal revelation, or is it responding to changing circumstances?

What ultimately led me to Christ was seeing the contrast.

Jesus never gained political power.

Never raised an army.

Never conquered a city.

His kingdom wasn’t built by the sword.

It was built by a cross.

And it was His blood that was shed, not ours.”

(Shahriq Khan)

This leaves the Muslim with a couple of questions.

1. What about the Crusades? Easily dealt with.

2. What about the government that will be on Jesus’ shoulders? Also easily dealt with.

Crusaders aren’t built to evangelize Muslims. The followers of the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles are.

Yes! I have his 3 volume analysis of Psalms. Most excellent. What work by Spurgeon do you recommend?

Spurgeon is one of my favorite Christian authors …

Of all of your posts, that is one of my favorites. I return to it often. (Because I read Spurgeon daily.)

“Preaching is our great weapon, so use it perpetually.” - C.H. Spurgeon

His great weapon isn’t the weapons of the world. The weapons of the world are your great weapon.

You won’t listen to one of your favorite Christian authors. The reason you won’t isn’t complicated: Spurgeon is a pacifist; you’re not.

We do not use the weapons of the world.” - Paul

Spurgeon listened to and followed Paul. Following Paul is following Jesus, because Jesus sent him; Paul is an apostle.

You are not following Jesus if you aren’t armed, ready to kill.

That’s not Jesus, Paul and Spurgeon.

Because otherwise, you‘re hijacking the thread.

No. The title of the thread is “Reason for The Crusades explained,” which doesn’t require anyone to post in support of the Crusades or in opposition to the Crusades.

No one is trying to silence you. Many have tried to persuade you.

You’re trying to silence opposition. Would you do it using the weapons of the world, if you could?

Well, if I am really hijacking this thread, or even showing the slightest signs of doing so, I hope the moderators would let me know, as that is not my intention.

Spurgeon is one of my favorite Christian authors …

“I wish that Christian men would insist more and more on the unrighteousness of war, believing that Christianity means no sword, no cannon, no bloodshed, and that, if a nation is driven to fight in its own defense, Christianity stands by to weep and to intervene as soon as possible, and not to join in the cruel shouts which celebrate an enemy’s slaughter.” - C.H. Spurgeon

I’m an example of what Spurgeon wished for. You should be pleased but you’re disgusted.

What work by Spurgeon do I recommend? His work to persuade you that Christianity means no sword, no cannon, no bloodshed.

Spurgeon grasped the true meaning of Christianity. I want you to grasp it too.

The origins of the Crusades was a call by the Pope. From that speech, I'm sure the mobilization of forces took time and were centered in many places. The Templars are one group among many.
The first knights of templer if am not mistaken, got tired and stop serving papacy and it's quest, and they went into hiding since being wanted by the papacy for treason.

Therefore while residing in certain country around Europe that was safe, they became investors and business merchants controlling the trade, as per to my knowledge.
Yes, when they say they are a religion of peace, that is in their world view that Islam is a house of peace and all others are in the house of war. In other words, they blame infidels existence for war. There can only be peace in Islam when all submit to its ideology. But this does not hold up to scrutiny because Muslims fight amongst themselves also.
Very true, since it is written that, 'The god of this world have blinded the minds of unbelievers.'

Sadly being deceived by the devil who lies and have no truth in him, that's one big fat excuse and lie from the muslims themselves unknowingly, that islam can make the world a better place.

For one, witness their own nations fully controlled by Islam both state and religion, and in what condition it is, ruins, devastated, torture, murder, division etc.

Besides the rich nominal outwardly muslim nations which closely collaborate with the West, compromised with modernized infidel structures and living

To them who are true muslims and live by the quran in context, such muslims who collaborate with the West and it's way of life, are 'infidel' themselves, and to be put to death.

Like how the Jews themselves as blind guides made a mess handling and practicing the Law and the Prophets, even having injustice prevailed among the citizens, until Christ came to straighten it.

The same the muslims as blind guides will make a mess worldwide handling and practicing the quran, islam and syaraiah law on everybody.

Even when what was 'wheat' sown by GOD HIMSELF, in sin and while deceived by satan, the Jews themselves as leaders of GOD's people apparently made a mess.

What about 'tares' sown by satan himself, in sin and since satan have blinded the minds of unbelievers including muslims, imagine will make worldwide?

Chaos!

Remember the 'nolocaust', just because of one man's genius ideology to make the world a better place that caused the lives of 6 milion Jews by paper alone.

When GOD punishes and take lives by HIS right and fair judgement but He's still able to give them a second chance and bring them back to life.

But when a likewsie sinner man punishes and take lives by his self right and fair judegment, but he's not able to do like GOD, but rather burn in hell himself.

Shalom in the name of Jesus Christ

Spurgeon is one of my favorite Christian authors …

You might know then that today is Spurgeon’s birthday. I was reminded of it by a post on X / Twitter this afternoon.

”Happy Birthday, Charles Spurgeon! Here are his last ever words in the pulpit:

1781885436928.png

I’m often drawn to people’s last words. I thought of you when I read these last words of his from the pulpit. I can easily imagine you being attracted to his use of militaristic language:

“[Jesus] is the most magnanimous of captains. There never was his like among the choicest of princes. He is always to be found in the thickest part of the battle.”

It must always be kept in mind, however, that he is a pacifist. His final words in the pulpit reminded me of similar expressions in his writing:

”The Church of Christ is continually represented under the figure of an army; yet its Captain is the Prince of Peace; its object is the establishment of peace, and its soldiers are men of peaceful disposition. The spirit of war is at the extremely opposite point to the spirit of the gospel.”

When is the last time that you read Spurgeon?

Christianity was successfully defended for centuries without using the weapons of the world. It is and always has been possible to defend Christianity in the way which Jesus and the apostles taught, by word and by action, followers of Jesus to do.
