Well, if hell is for the unsaved, and those who do not abide in the Lord are also unsaved, then those who do not bear any fruit because they do not abide in Jesus will be thrown into the fire, which if I am not mistaken is the Lake of Fire, If the Lake of Fire is Hell, then where is the issue with the OP.

If a man abide not in me,....
Christ does not say, "if ye abide not in me"; he would not suppose this of his true disciples; Judas now being removed, to whom he may have some respect in this verse; though it may be applied to anyone who has made a profession of Christ, and denies the truths of the Gospel, neglects the ordinances of it, or walks unworthy of his profession: of whom the following things may be truly said,

...he is cast forth as a branch; that is unfruitful, and is therefore taken away from the vine, and cast forth out of the vineyard.
This signifies the ejection of worthless and fruitless professors out of the churches; for such who are either unsound in their principles, or are remiss and negligent in their attendance on the worship of God, with the church, or are loose and vain in their lives and conversations, are to be removed from communion with the people of God.

...And is withered.

Jesus doesn’t ‘require much fruit’ because the ‘abiding’ is in Him and His work brings ‘much fruit’. His promise is much fruit...fruit is a given. Attached to the vine(Christ), there is life. Not attached to the vine, there is death and dead works. The fruit withers without water. In Christ, Life. Outside of Christ (in the world), Death. In Christ, Restoration. Outside of Christ, Destruction. In Christ, much fruit. outside of Christ, no fruit.

I’d also add a branch can not wither when attached to a healthy flourishing vine with water supply. It(the branch) gets it nourishment from the vine(root). The branch does not bear ‘much’ fruit in itself but bears fruit from the Vine(Root source). The Vine (Root) produces the fruit that springs forth in the branch.

Enoch111 I also have no trouble in your requirement that John 15:6 should also be understood in the context of all scriptures regarding Salvation.

However, I hold little store in the commentary of John Gill either, even as his verbose expansions on scripture may point one to Christ, I turn off because of there is no KISS principle in his words.

When the disciples wanted to call fire down from heaven onto a group of people near them, because they were not using the right words or actions, Jesus told the disciples to leave them alone.

So many times we see posts on forums where the poster is grinding his own axe on a particular subject matter by expressing his opinion on the subject matter on hand and why it is in error, when that poster also introduces content that is also just as questionable.

In my response to the OP above, I simply quoted the scripture referenced in the OP and the verse that was being focused upon in the OP and asked questions as to whether or no the poster of the OP was making a valid interpretation of the said verse.

I left it at that.

Subsequent posts seems to indicate that the poster of the OP has ruffled feather before because people did not like his manner of posting. Not a good outcome when trying to get ones message across.

But it was John Gill that was taking the Ezekiel verse that he had referenced out of context. I only quoted the context of where the Ezekiel verse was found only without comment or expansion.

However, I did like your confirmation that John Gill generally gets things right, which means that he gets things generally wrong as well.
