Does being saved mean you're going to go to heaven, or does it mean you've been given another chance?

All of the above. We *all* needed a 2nd chance, since the 1st Adam failed, and death spelled the end of a possible relationship with God. So the 2nd Adam gave us all a 2nd chance, with the offer of a restored relationship that will never end. That is "Salvation." That is "going to Heaven," if you want to call it that.

What happens if we mess up our 2nd chance, also?

If you were drowning and I “saved” you, what does that mean?
What are we getting “saved” from? What does “salvation” mean to a Christian?
Can a Christian attain salvation and then lose it?

The scriptures tell us that we are in a judgment period similar to the days of Noah. Jesus used this example to tell us what life would be like in the days prior to his return as judge of all the earth….
Matt 24:37-39…
”For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.”

What were the people going to experience before God acted to eliminate wickedness back then?
Peter tells us that Noah was a “preacher of righteousness” to the people whose wickedness was out of control because of demonic interference. So Noah was instructed to build an ark for his own salvation and also for the preservation of life in the animal kingdom, since all things “in which the breath of life was active”, would perish.

So Noah preached to the people a warning about what God was going to do….not immediately but giving them fair warning whilst Noah obeyed God in following his instructions to the letter, constructing an immense vessel, designed, not to navigate, but just to float.

Was there room for more humans on the ark? The dimensions tell us that there was plenty of room for more humans if they chose to listen to Noah and join him and his family when God acted to destroy the wicked. They did have opportunity to save themselves from what was going to take place.…. and not a soul could say that “no one told them” of God’s intentions.

But the warnings fell on deaf ears for perhaps decades, (as building such an immense structure from scratch with no technology, but their bare hands, would have taken a long time to construct) no one responded with anything but ridicule. That crazy old man and his family building whatever that was, and telling the people that God was going to end their wicked ways. I wonder what they thought when the water started rising and sweeping them away? They had to believe him then…..but too late, because it wasn’t Noah who closed the door of the ark….it was God.

And here we are again…..God is going to act to bring the current the wickedness of this world to an end……so “salvation” means getting “saved” from the wrath of God that is coming upon this world of godless humans who have no love for him, and no interest in doing his will, because their own will is more important.

The door of opportunity has been open for decades...but who has responded? The end must come for the same reasons that God brought an end to that world.….demonic influence is again rife among humanity, and their wickedness is ever increasing.

Every human on earth has the opportunity to build their own “ark” and be saved when God brings the curtain down on this world…..according to Peter, baptism is a parallel to the building of Noah’s ark….it is our dedication to God as a disciple of Jesus Christ that will preserve our lives in the difficult days to come.

Salvation doesn’t mean “going to heaven”….it means being preserved alive when God executes all who fail to serve and obey him. He has already chosen his “elect” who will rule with Christ in heaven, but these are not the only ones to be saved. All who respond to the teachings of Jesus Christ in company with other true disciples who congregate for worship will be “saved”……protected as a global brotherhood through “the end” of this horrible world. (Matt 24:14)

No one will perish without due warning and ample opportunity to repent….because Christ has sent his disciples out to tell people about what is to take place. (Matt 28:19-20; Matt 10:11-14) Again, no one will be able to say “no one told me”….

I think "salvation" means different things to different people.

It means only one thing to God, so where does that leave those who should know what it is , but who believe different things about it?
God’s spirit unites people…it does not divide them.

What is God's definition of "salvation"?

With grace there is virtually no end of chances, as long as we're alive. You have no hope if you do not wish to call upon God for mercy. I'm pretty certain if we begin to seek the 365th "chance" that God will see it for what it is--an attempt at a "get out of jail free card?"
