That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
In all the endless arguments, there's always a simple truth of Scripture being missed, that ends all sincere argument.
Saving faith is not only believing the Lord is the true God, as the devils do. But saving faith is believing unto righteousness. It is believing we can do righteousness, even as Jesus.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
It is not only believing Jesus did righteousness at all times, but believing from the heart, that with Him we also can do righteousness, even as he is righteous.
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Saving faith is not only believing the true Christ walked on earth as a man, but it is believing from the heart, that we also can walk as He walked, by the same power of God and divine nature of Jesus, that the Father freely gives to them that believe unto righteousness.
He does not give that power and nature to them, who don't believe they can live righteously as His Son on earth.
Unbelief is indeed the problem. Not the unbelief, that there is no true God, but the unbelief, that there is no saving Christ, that can help man by grace to walk as He walked on earth.
And so, Christians can talk about being saved by their faith alone all they wish, and there's nothing to argue about.
But those who say it is impossible to do righteousness and walk as Jesus on earth, are not believing unto the righteousness and salvation from sin by the Lord Jesus.
They are not believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ, Who saves His people from their sinning, but are believers in another gospel of a christ that saves them with their sinning.
Anyone who says it is impossible to do righteousness and walk with Jesus at all times, are obviously not believers unto the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
