Your only a child of God if you obey the true gospel of Christ.

You need to seek your soul and dee if you have done that.

The true gospel is as moses lifted the serpent, so must the son of man be lifted up that whoever believed (true saving faith) in him will NEVER DIE but has eternal life (2 ways of saying they will never die) for God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him will never perish but has eternal life (4 times Jesus said they will never die if they have true saving faith and are born again) For God did not send his son to judge the world. But that the world may be saved, He who believes is not condemned (eternal life) he who does nt believe is condemned already. For that have not believed.

Thats gospel 101 my friend. The believers will never perish. The non believers are already in a condemned state.

Now what you have to determine, is what is a true believer IN CHRIST

If you claim to be a true beige in christ, But believe you can still perish. Well then you need to refocus your thinking, and go internal and ask yourself if you really believe in christ after all. Because why do you NOT believe in what Jesus himself said. That goes for all people. Catholic or protestant

THANK YOU for once again proving that you don’t have a CLUE about how to rightly divide the Word of God.

There are many seemingly-contradictory verses in Scripture that are NOT actually contradictory for those of us who know the Word.

For example - Paul stated flatly:
    Romans 10:13
For “EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

    HOERVERJesus explicitly says:
    Matt. 7:21
NOT EVERYONE who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Those of us who study the Word of God in its proper CONTEXT understand that those of you who cherry-pick verses can’t fully grasp the idea that Jesus and Paul are in perfect sync because they BOTH teach that salvation is CONDITIONAL on our cooperation with God’s grace and our need to REMAIN faithful.

When Jesus said that those who eat the Bred of Life will "live forever" – this is CONDITIONAL on whether or not that person ALSO does what Jesus commands elsewhere:
    - Being baptized (Matt. 28:19-20, John 3:5, Rom. 2:29, Rom. 6:1-11, Col. 2:12-17, 1 Peter 3:21)
    - Picking up our cross daily to follow him (Matt. 16:24, Luke 9:23)
    - Obeying his commandments (John 14:15, 15:10)
    - Doing the will of the Father (Matt. 7:21, James 1:22)

YOU have Jesus contradicting himself because you are a cherry-picker of Scripture – NOT a serious student of it . . .

No -you didn’t give me an answer,’
You’re dodging the issue because your ridiculous claim is NOT provable by Scripture.

    YOU explicitly stated:
If you’re going to make a claim like that ABOUT Scripture – then you need to prove it - FROM Scripture.

The Bible simply does NOT teach this.

You can CALL yourself whatever you want – but that doesn’t make it true.
There are men who “identify” as women yet they are STILL men - and vice versa.

As for you being “Catholic” - the Catholic Church gets its name from the GREEK for “according to the whole” and “universal” - εκκλησια καθ ολης, which is pronounced “katah-holos”.

Acts 9:31 talks about how the Early Church grew throughout the region. The language used here describes the Catholic Church:
“Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced peace and thus was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, the church increased in numbers.”

According to Strong’s Greek Concordance which is used by Protestants AND Catholics alike – the verse is translated as:
“The true Church throughout all Judea . . .”

So – if you’re NOT according to the whole and you’re simply one of tens of thousands of perpetually-splintering Protestant sects or “Lone Ranger” believers who ALL teach and believe in different doctrines based on the interpretational whims of men during and after the 16th century – the you’re NOT a Catholic, by definition.

The Catholic Church is ONE, Holy and Apostolic.
So, whereas, you may be a Christian by Baptism – you’re not a Catholic Christian . . .

    WRONG.

In every instance where Jesus transfers His power and Authority to His Church – He is ONLY addressing His inner circle of Disciples and NOT the crowds (Matt. 16:18-19, Matt. 18:15-18, Luke 10:16, John 16:12-15, John 20:21-23).
Not ONLY are Jesus’s words to Peter in Matt. 15:18-19 a fulfillment of the supreme Authority given to Eliakim over the House of Israel (Isa. 22:22) – Jesus’s prescription for settling matters between believers is to go to the CHURCH for the final decision – and NOT to each other (Matt. 18:15-18).

As for the power to forgive sins or hold them bound that Jesus gave to His inner circle in John 20:21-23Paul clarifies WHO was given this power:
    2 Cor. 5:18-20:
“And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and
given US the ministry of reconciliation, namely, God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting their trespasses against them and entrusting to US the message of reconciliation. So WE are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through US. WE implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

In 2 Cor. 2:10, he states:
“Whomever you forgive anything, so do I. For indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been FOR you in the presence of Christ

The Greek word used here for “presence” is “Prosopone”, or “PERSON”.

So, what Paul actually wrote was:
“For indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for you in the PERSON of Christ.
The Latin term for this is “In persona Cristi”.

When Jesus taught the CROWDS - He was teaching ALL of us.
When He ewas instructing His inner circle - He was instructing the LEADERS of His Church.

    YOUR turn.

    thanks.
per previous discussion, it's decided i'm catholic.
not papist or a devotee of the goddess of heaven, not of any mortal man -- but 'general Christian' ((i.e. catholic)) is a wide enough pigeon-hole for my roost.

wow what a terrible private translation, not literal at all!
    completely inaccurate.

don't you know the difference between a concordance and a lexicon? ask your friend Mssr. Webster
and don't you even know how to use it? like, maybe, look up the word before you come here and post your private interpretation?

exactly as i said and perfectly in keeping with Christ telling His disciples that whatever they loose will have already been loosed in heaven. Paul is specifying that any forgiveness he engages in has its existence in Christ. Paul isn't claiming to have transubstantiated into the form of God.
note that he says if they forgive, he does also. is it because they are all transubstantiated into the form of God with all earthly authority and power?
    nope.
it's because they also are in Christ, and Christ works through them just as Christ works through Paul. authority is in and from heaven in the person of Christ. it flows through all of His own; we are become His body.

btw that's ἐν προσώπῳ Χριστοῦ -- the NT is not Latin. it's Greek. the OT is primarily Hebrew with a little bit of Aramaic.

interestingly Paul doesn't say 'for you in the person of Mary' or 'for you in the person of pope Peter'
almost as though there is no other Mediator between God and man, but Jesus Christ alone . . ?

    Wow.
All of your ignorant nonsense about "Papism", "godesses" and "mortal men" aside - you're still not a Catholic Christian.

As I stated before - you belong to one of the tens of thousands of perpetually splintering sects of Protestant Christians whose doctrines have been invented since the 16th century - but have NO place in historical OR Biblical Christianity.
Ummmm, that's pretty much the definition that I gave YOU.

Of course - the definition I presented was more complete:
Εκκλησια (ekklesia) - A gathering of citizens called out from their homes into some public place, an assembly; CHURCH
καθ (katah) - Through out, according to
ολης (holos) - All, whole, completely

    HUH??
Who say anything about having to "transubstantiate" into God??

Paul is saying that they are forgiviung sins in the PERSON (Prosopone) of Jesus.
This simply means that they are doing this by His Authoriity- on His behalf - NOT that they would have to actually transubstantiate into Jesus.

When Joseph was given Supreme Authority to act on behalf of Pharoah - he spoke in the PERSON of the Pharoah. SAME goes for Eliakim with the supremem Authority granted to him by God (Isa. 22:22).

What a failure on your part to rightly divide Scripture.
The entire subject of God-given Authority flies right over your head . . .

    No "kid games" here.
ALL I wish is for YOU to defend your unbiblical claim.

As I told you before - your previouds claim cannot be supportedfrom Scripture:
So now, you've chosen to run instead.
    I completely understand.

there's a perfectly good Greek word for 'authority' - ἐξουσία, exousia.
    interesting word.
doesn't happen to be the word in 2 Corinthians 2:10
weren't you making a big deal about the exact language earlier?

    hmm.

    wow, wrongly accuse much?
i belong to Jesus Christ - not to a 'sect' like you do.
He bought me with His own blood. Acts 20:28

    & 16th century, what???
have you heard of Tertullian? Justin Martyr? Ignatius? those are my brothers - from before the RCC sect was born.
they are my brothers in the person of Christ - 1 Corinthians 3:21 - stop boasting in men! heaven has no queen!

um, no, check the record -- you said 'the church throughout' should be translated "the true church"

which is bogus, as demonstrated previously.

Good luck bro. That was not my first run in with him, He does not change. I will pray though maybe a different person can be used by the spirit

I miss our brother also. It was the calvinism debate that sadly took him out.

All these debates, I miss when we just discussed the word. you remember those days?
