I can play games and not be effected by it, I can watch movies and not be effected by it, but not everyone can say that. So I think if you're one of those people that is effected by it,

I'm not saying anything about wether or not to play gta or things like that, but I will tell you that if you say you can go without being effected by something your eyes see, you are lying to yourself.

I would think the devil wants me to be impressionable so when he tempts me I'm affected.

But honestly, what evil is this devil you speak of doing?

The first lie in the garden was like "you won't be effected by it" when the serpent said, "will you surely die"

Perhaps you should also understand in some video games, players get to play the role of some kind of hero, now is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Play the role? As in Role playing games? RPG's are the most dangerous they tend to get peoples minds too far from reality and in to satans domain.

I stay away from a lot of RPGs these days.

But I was more talking about action adventure games.

@teamventure The modern RPGs have too much magic for my liking... And often involve quite a lot of witchcraft.

Of course though, people here have mentioned they play Elder Scrolls though and stay away from playing as those witchcrafty classes, perhaps they might play as a warrior or a knight.

As for RPGs the only ones I have played in the last few months is Star Trek Online, I do like a bit of Mount & Blade too, but haven't played that in a while, the original one is based in the late middle ages, and there are no wizards, combat involves plain wooden staffs, lances, swords, shields, bows and crossbows, and even stones, trading to make money and escorting caravans safely to different cities is also a part of the game.

I would rather you not call me a liar, but rather say to yourself, "how is it that I get affected and others not". I think that would be an intelligent and wise approach.

Is scripture true? Yes, or no. Because some of you are in denial. You say that playing video games doesn't affect you. Some of you even suggest they have a positive effect. What a load of nonsense. Do you really think that the designers have your best interests at heart?
The Bible says, and the scriptures cannot be broken,
KJV 2 Corinthians 3:18
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

What, or who, is it that we behold and are thus changed? The same image... Which means we behold Christ in His word, we are then changed into an image of that which we behold... Christ.
This is a principle of life. We know this to be true. It is why elderly married couples become so much like each other. They may start married life completely different, with even opposite tastes in so many things... But after 50 or 60 years of marriage such differences so often disappear. By beholding each other constantly they become alike.
It applies also for sinners. Those who behold evil become hardened, their conscience seared, and their empathy, compassion, and love grows cold.
From whence comes violence? From whom comes wars and conflict? Who was it that Jesus described as a murderer from the beginning? There is a spiritual warfare constantly being waged all about us, and you are the prize. Don't think for a moment that you can watch, partake in virtual killing for hours every day and competing with others who is the most lethal efficient killer and who can shed the most blood, and do so with impunity. If that is what you think, you are deceiving yourselves. You are playing on Satan's playground. There is nothing innocent, harmless, or positive in anything you are doing. You are playing games with your eternal destiny. Who is it you are beholding? Who are you becoming like? Into whose image are you being changed,??

I don't think you really gave this much thought (wisdom). What about prison guards and police and judges and lawyers. Do they all become criminals submersing themselves in the criminal world? Or are they strong in their conviction of who they are? Like rocks, that the waves don't move.

I think more likely people that are easily changed by the witness of evil don't put time and effort into the service of good.

Matthew 6:24

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

I think people that don't serve good expose themselves this way. Being easily blown by the wind. Weak minded because they are weak in service:

For them that serve good, God is their rock.

Psalm 18:2

"The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."

And with each good work we begin to trust ourselves, knowing we serve the good master, even in the presence of wickedness. I think people that don't trust themselves around wickedness, have no real experience doing good in the presence of wickedness. Be a rock.

That's a desperate response. Sorry, but that simply doesn't fly. A totally irrelevant analogy
How is playing video games doing good? How is it not anything other than a self centered pleasure seeking pastime?

I think people that don't trust themselves, don't trust others. That is a control issue. They project their lack of self trust onto others.

Perhaps people that see playing video games as evil have self control problems, again it comes down to control issues.

I am sure the same question can be asked about other hobbies, for those judging us who play video games.

Can golf be considered a self centered pleasure seeking pastime?

I would call it self care. It's exercise, it's healthy, is in the countryside. Golf is a positive pastime. You think comparing a healthy sport to sitting in front of a screen for several hours a day imagining you are killing all your enemies in direct contradiction to biblical counsel (loving your enemies) a fair argument?

In fact, it reveals how terribly weak your argument is.

I would probably think you watch action movies though?

What's the difference?

Actually not any more. I detest hollywood and everything it stands for. It's run by the same liberal socialist globalist NWO Jesuits that run media and education and seek to control the narrative and worldview to their own ends.
I do enjoy some dramas based on real life.
But that said, there would be a difference. I wouldn't be the one doing the killing.
