Hi and God bless you!I have done much reading and studying on the subject of "speaking in tongues" and have discovered that it is not a gift, but one of nine manifestations OF the gift of holy spirit. The gift is the spiritual ability. Speaking in tongues was not just for a certain group of people such as the Apostles. Jesus is addressing "all them that believe." The Apostles were not alone in their beliefs because there were those disciples (men and women) who followed Peter's teachings concerning and were added (about 3000) to the Church. See Acts, Chapter 2.John 4:20 --- Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.Jesus responded in verse 21, "Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father"Philippians 3:3 --- For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. This is true worship. The called-of-God are those who "worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus." We are to have no confidence in the flesh or in the traditions of men. Our confidence is in what God wrought and accomplished for us in Christ. This is why we can rejoice "in Christ Jesus." When we are born again and filled with the power of holy spirit we can worship the true God in the spirit no matter where we are. We do not need a building or a special place or location when praying to our heavenly Father.Mark 16:17 --- And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;Jesus Christ made it known that those who "believe" shall speak in tongues. Speaking in tongues is God's will for all those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and believe that God had raised him up from among the dead. It IS NOT a certain "gift" given only to "certain" born-again believers chosen by God. Speaking in tongues is one of the nine manifestations God made available through His GIFT of holy spirit. We do not need a building or a special place or location when praying to our heavenly Father.Love in Christ,Agape
