There is but One that can walk across that field, just as there was only One that could sit upon that donkey. The only way to that mountain is with Him, The anointed One of Israel.

Not sure I have the answer you seek here. For me the mountain of Daniel is Adam from which Eve is taken. Eve is the Bride which is only one, undefiled. Then the undefiled one crushes the feet of clay and iron which are perhaps the Catholics and the Protestants and everyone [the whole of the statute] not really part of the Church.

All these pieces don't fit yet for me. I am not certain that they need to, that is, I am uncertain that I need to understand the fitting together so long as I am the part I am supposed to be in the Body of Christ doing the work I am supposed to do.

Is the mountain of Daniel, Adam? Is it the Church? Is the Stone cut without hands the Bride? I have more questions on this than answers. But again do I need all of these answers to be on God's side? He knows all of the necessary answers and will certainly give me what is needed when it is needed if I trust Him.

The beasts that touch the mountain [certainly in one respect it is Jesus, it is the Bridegroom] will lose what drives them as a beast. If all we have is our beast or beast nature, then we will have nothing. What was burned up when the three Hebrews were thrown into the fiery furnace? [Dan 3] was it not the ropes that bound them only while the strong men who threw them into the fire only approached too close lost all that they had.

When all of our beasts have been killed [our defiled garments or ropes burned up] (if they ever are) then will we not be a part of that Rock/Stone cut out of the mountain with hands? My answers as you see are often more questions, but if Jesus is our Head does He not know of those necessary answers. Who is our Head?

We are to come when we are called and then we are to follow the one to whom we are to yield our all. If we hear wrong or follow wrong or fail to obey, then we have a problem.

We do need to have "ears to hear" and "eyes to see", but the hearing and seeing is NOT for what we decide unless everything we decide is what Jesus decides.

Certainly, the "ears" and the "eyes" are the Holy Spirit in us. This is why Apostle Paul writes:

"Quench not the Spirit." I Thess 5:19

    Daniel 2:31
[31] Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

unapproachable...descriptive of ‘terrible’ and ‘to quake’ at the ‘brightness was excellent’ same as Jacob said of the house of God(unapproachable)...Genesis 28:17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.[/quote]

The unapproachable is seen early on in Genesis when Adam and Eve placed outside the Garden of Eden and access through the Gate is blocked by the flaming two edged sword. Why should they or we want to enter in...? The other tree mentioned, the Tree of Life, is there! Then, of course there is another unapproachable, the " heaven" [or heavens] which men seek instead of seeking God's face. The statue of Nebuchadnezzar's dream depicted the glory of men, Babylon, Media-Persian, Greece, Rome and then the feet of clay and iron. All of this would come to nothing before God, but to many men it looks so good as does our modern technology. These are the wrong first thing.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33

People who cannot "hear" His Word or "see" His Vision... the kingdom and righteousness of God, will receive what reward or punishment?

    Even so!

Perhaps so! Also consider the children of Israel in the wilderness who were to follow the pillar of a cloud by day:

"And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:" Ex 13:21

It led them the right way, but also we see where it was darkness to the Egyptians:

"And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the CLOUD went from before their face, and stood behind them:
And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a CLOUD and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

    Ex 4:19-20

"I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." Rev 3:18

The "eyesalve" of course is the Holy Ghost!

It seems to me that the field can be understood as the scriptures, the body as well as the soul. For each case the grass is the meaning of scriptures that when practiced, traversed as it were by means of bodily labors (the body’s grass), it strengthens the body against the will of the flesh and at the same time nourishes the soul with the virtues (the soul’s grass). The mountain is spiritual knowledge and the peak covered with a cloud is the vision of God (Exodus 24:15-17, Matthew 17:1-5). It is impossible to attain to this knowledge and the vision of God without practicing God’s commandments.

Also, having chosen to work in this field, be prepared so at to resists the temptation to turn back and take your cloak (Matthew 24:18), i.e. succumb to the lusts of the flesh, but make haste to reach Judea (righteousness) and from there to the peak of the mountain (Matthew 24:16).

And make sure before making the ascend, to take Peter, James and John with you (Matthew 17:1), that is Faith, Hope and Love. A strong faith will protect you from the rending wind (1 Kings 19:11) of falsehood and scheming of the enemy (Ephesians 4:14). Hope (1 Thessalonians 5:8) will protect you from the earthquake of despair on account of the sins of this earth (body) of ours and finally love from the flaming fire (1 Kings 19:12) of anger towards our neighbor. For the gentle breeze of God’s presence can only be experienced when our soul is established in these virtues.

Was wondering if you have considered Hebrews 12:18-20 and His voice? “For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, [19] And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: [20] (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

    Acts 26:14-18
[14] And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. [15] And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. [16] But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; [17] Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, [18] To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Much about trumpet: 1 Corinthians 14:8
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

    Revelation 1:10-11
[10] I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, [11] Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

How significant is it John was in the Spirit with his back toward the One who spoke and told him to write up until John turned and was face to face: Revelation 1:12-18 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; [13] And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. [14] His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; [15] And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. [16] And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. [17] And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

    2 Corinthians 3:14-16
[14] But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which vail is done away in Christ. [15] But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. [16] Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

I think...I have been experiencing this same thing, sort of...but for me it's more like a restless anticipation hits me at times and then a thought comes - no, keep resting in this increased trust you've gained by Him. Best I can explain it I guess.

Beloved, I’ve often contemplated what this implies.

The work in the man Jesus was finished, but for you me, it was only an opportunity for a new beginning. Jesus opened the Gate/Door that was shut to everyone when Adam and Eve were put outside of the Garden of Eden. For it to be finished for us, we must be properly prepared [wearing proper garment: Matt 22:11-13] and enter in so as to partake of that other tree, the one Adam and Eve neglected: The Tree of Life. How does one partake of it?

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." Rev 2:7

To partake we must overcome as Jesus overcame:

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

Jesus did not overcome planet Earth. We can look around us and see that he did not. He overcame the fleshly world of the man Jesus. We see it when he met with the devil in Matthew chapter 4. When we truly overcome we are no longer dead but we then have that Life which Jesus brought:

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

We see a bit of the application here:

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." matt 4:4

We need the Word of God [which = Jesus] in order to overcome and to Live.

What do we need to overcome? How about those things which when followed would lead us back to sin?

"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." I John 2:16

Remember that the world is NOT planet Earth but our own little world full of these temptations, these beasts, until we have through the wisdom of God killed them all:

"Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table" Prov 9:1-2

Exactly! Rest and wait. ..and they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like an eagle, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

The Lord Jesus refused the vinegar; He refused to avoid the suffering involved in the sacrifice for sin.

    A deep lesson there.
