Agreed! Good post.
Fear=punishment, Christians should not fear punishment. Our sins have been paid for, taken away and forgotten by God...He remembers them no more...as far as the East is from the West. Now, doesn't that make you want to learn to love Him more? Know our Creator and please Him?

I agree 100%

Amen!! Also agree that kind of fear does bring foreboding with it...

If we were supposed to be in fear of God...He would have sent the message when Christ was born of " PEACE on earth, Goodwill to man.."

Awe and wonder ...yes, ' fear of'...no.

Yet we do have many Scriptures reminding Christians to fear God, even in the NT. It is about the wicked that God says "There is no fear of God before their eyes" (Rom 3:18).

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Phil 2:12).

Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. (2 Cor 5:11)

We need to simply accept what is stated clearly in Scripture and act on it.

Yep, peace on earth, goodwill toward men...I bring the good news of...foreboding and fear! Such joy! Lol. Growing up in the C. church, I always pictured God as always angry at people, and I pictured Him with a constant frown of disapproval. No more :)

I get what you are saying, but don't agree that our sins are yet forgotten. They are still on record in the books of heaven... They don't get wiped clean until probation closes. Then, they are cast away and forgotten. Nevertheless, yes, so long as we are in Christ, there ought to be no fear.

Hello @brakelite,

What Scriptural basis does this thought of 'probation' have? In the light of Ephesians 1:3-8, it has none.

'Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings
in heavenly places in Christ:
According as He hath chosen us in Him
before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blame
before Him in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children
by Jesus Christ to Himself,
according to the good pleasure of His will,
To the praise of the glory of His grace,
wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved.
In whom we have redemption through His blood,
the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace;
Wherein He hath abounded toward us
in all wisdom and prudence; ... '

(Eph 1:3-8)

This a present reality ('Who hath'). We are at this moment, 'in Christ Jesus', 'Holy and without blame', before God, our Father.
We are, at this moment 'accepted in the Beloved', in Whom we have 'redemption through His blood', 'the forgiveness of sins', according to the riches of His grace.

* In His perfect love there is no fear, for, '
perfect love casts out fear'. Fear is just, 'the beginning,' of wisdom, it is not wisdom itself (see Psal 111:10; Prov.1:7; Prov. 9:10).

'But of Him (God the Father) are ye in Christ Jesus,
Who of God is made unto us
wisdom,
.. and righteousness,
.... and sanctification,
...... and redemption:
That, according as it is written,
"He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."'

(1 Cor.1:30-31)

* Christ is all these things to us - NOW. (Heb.10:22)

Praise His Holy Name!

Blessed assurance!
In Christ Jesus
Our risen and glorified
Saviour, Lord and Head.

This speaks of us entering into Christ. This is the second step after regeneration. It speaks of a holy walk with God. We must ourselves go through the cross for this kind of life to kick in.

I know it frustrates many to read all the wonderful things promised to those who are in Christ....yet to see so little of it in real daily life.

That is because there is more to the Christian life than most modern teachers speak of.

It seems nobody teaches the cross anymore. The cross of Christ is our access point. The life from above is ours when we forsake our own lives. We must be emptied of ourselves before we can be filled with Christ.

Christ in us is a great start. It begins a living hope. We have attained the righteousness of faith in submission to the righteousness of God. But we must go through the cross to actually BECOME the righteousness of God for others.

I hope this is clear in presentation! :)

Blessings to you.

'In whom ye also trusted,
after that ye heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation:
in whom also after that ye believed,
ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance
until the redemption of the purchased possession,
unto the praise of His glory.'

(Eph 1:13-14)

Hello @Episkopos,

Thank you, but with respect, there is no 'second step' spoken of in Scripture. What God accomplished in Christ Jesus is a finished work: and the moment faith enters the life of the believer, all of these things listed in Ephesians chapter one are the believers possession before God. That is His 'standing' before God, which cannot be altered. His 'state' may be quite different: for he has to grow in grace and truth and in the knowledge of God; but before God, the moment that he believes he is 'holy and without blame' before Him, and complete in every regard - in God's sight.

The outworking of the cross in heart and life takes place in the life of the believer as he walks before God, in Christ, in spirit; but His 'standing' before God is one of completeness and perfect acceptance - in the Beloved.

Praise His Holy Name!

In Christ Jesus

Sound Doctrine IS;

The Word of God. Period.

HOW God has elected To Deliver HIS Doctrine TO ManKIND is revealed (TO "THEM" and FOR "THEM"; Ancient manKIND) in several WAYS, and FORWARD (TO "US" and FOR "US"; Modern manKIND), in several WAYS.

The Point being;
The Doctrine of God; IS His Word,
(regardless of HOW it is delivered TO ManKIND).

'But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of,
knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable -
.. for doctrine,
.... for reproof,
...... for correction,
........ for instruction in righteousness:'

(2 Timothy 3:14-17)

'Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.'

(2 Timothy 2:15)

Hello @Taken,

The Word of God is indeed, 'sound doctrine', but it needs to be 'rightly divided' too (2 Timothy 2:15), in order to know with certainty what doctrine is applicable to us. For though all scripture is 'for' us, for the reasons listed in the verses above, not all is 'about' us.

Thank you.
In Christ Jesus

they heard the Word and then searched the Scriptures to see if It was true

So search the scriptures to see if it is true that being in the wilderness is not the place to remain until death, but whether we are meant to come out of it and to a better place He has prepared.

Search the scriptures to see if it is true that remaining and dying in the wilderness is b ecause of God's displeasure at a lack of trust and complaining.

The work of Jesus is finished. But not ours. We need to enter into His rest. It is ironic that we are to "strive" to do so. We are to strive to be approved and translated into the Beloved.

It is easy to miss, because the person writing to us (Paul) had done those steps. So it just seems like there is only one step in the race.

Which is easier to miss? If it is possible to go an extra step...why would people be afraid to take it? I mean logically. What stops people from advancing?

Paul speaks of this...telling people to "put on Christ"...and this to those who were already redeemed Christians.

My own testimony is that there is much more to the Christian walk than people think...going that EXTRA mile.

The truth is all there.

But it seems when we talk of getting CLOSER to God...people resist firmly.

Precisely! Application, TO US.

There IS an ORDER "according To Gods "WAY".

The "US" Typically Begins AS A "Mixed" "CROWD".

Crowds Separate into "Groups" having a seemingly Common Core Beliefs.

The "Groups" Establish Creeds, and binding "Rules" For a man To Become a Bonafied "Member" of "That" Group.

Some men ARE In "Absolute" agreement with Every Creed and Rule Established BY the "leaders" of the Group....
Some men are not, in "Absolute" agreement, and 'reject" parts and stay with the "group
or leave the "group".

Getting on to what you spoke of....

The "Application" which According to Scripture specifically pertains to Individual men.

Joining a man-made group IS about a man being in agreement with man's commandments and doctrines.

Joining with Christ Jesus' Doctrine IS about;
a man Knowing WHAT Jesus' Doctrine IS, Trusting His Doctrine IS Absolute TRUTH,
Understanding Jesus Doctrine Speaks To...
Men "For" Him and Men "AGAINST" HIM....

WHICH BY Design; Jesus' Doctrine can not APPLY TO one Individual man At THE SAME TIME.

God Does Not Change.
Men however Are creatures that continually Change.

ManKIND begins AGAINST GOD...
Some men adamantly Remain against God.
Some try to be for God, wavering, yea God, nay God, yea God, nay God.
Some men persist, hearing, learning, Trusting, Receive Faith for their efforts, continue.....
And choose WHICH parts of Jesus' Doctrine, that ARE "not against Him", THEY choose To APPLY TO Themselves.

The Lord provides His OWN Divisional Options, in His Doctrine.

The Individual Elects Which side of the Divisional Options the Individual elects to stand...

The Lord IS Just.
For whichever an individual man Chooses The Lord, By His Power Will cause every individual mans Choice TO BE Effected.

Absolutely Agree. Dividing the Word of Truth..
Is paramount for every individual to choose his own standing.

And BTW, there IS a caveat...For those individuals WHO believe they have NO obligation TO "make" a Choice.

Any man WHO makes NO choice, To Stand WITH God...by default he is with those WHO Stand Against God.

God Bless,
Taken

Agree Jesus' work was accomplished and finished. Absolute Truth.

ManKIND however, is a different Truth.

Some have not yet been naturally born.

Some are still babies, children, young; without their own 'history' or gaining knowledge, or having 'experience".

Some are adults, having heard OF God, but never having Heard His word.

Some are those WHO adamently profess belief IN God.....and profess having had Received Internal Gifts from God.....
yet routinely Preach doctrines of men AND Argue Against Jesus' Doctrine.

Some are those WHO adamently profess belief IN God....and profess having had Received Internal Gifts from God...
and routinely Preach doctrines of men THAT applied to those UNDER the OT LAW, but that never applied to those NOT UNDER the OT LAW. (And often, the very men they are preaching TO, are those Never having been UNDER OT LAW....but are being Preached TO, "AS IF" the LAW and the Consequences thereof...DO APPLY TO "THEM", when it does not.)

Some are those WHO adamently profess belief in God...and profess having had Received Interal Gifts from God...and profess belief in "PARTICULAR" parts of Jesus' Doctrine that APPLY TO THEM....Precisely BECAUSE the individual HAS Committed themselves TO Christ Jesus, which makes those "Particular" parts of Jesus' Doctrine "Applicable to the individual"...and other "PARTS" of Jesus' Doctrine "Not applicable to the individual".

Some are those ..... the list goes on and on.

Personally, I favor the Last mentioned and include myself there....

Yes....It for each to strive to become what they desire.

A man who has become "Converted" according to the WAY of the word of God...

They are FINISHED....PERFECT-ED.

Read carefully. I am not saying DONE, nor am saying they are Perfect.

Finished and Perfect-ed "is preparation" for a man to Become....."DONE" and "GLORIFIED", which is STILL TO COME....and IS the future coming into fruition All the promises of God, made to mankind...coming to pass.

God Bless,

~~ FEAR ~~

Doesn't really matter the Topic;

FEAR is an emotion.

FEAR stems FROM what IS "UNKNOWN".

Don't know an answer....FEAR.
Don't know if spouse is cheating....FEAR
Don't know if one has $$ to pay debt...FEAR
Don't know where children are....FEAR

Don't know God....FEAR
Don't know Gods Truth...FEAR

However ONCE the UNKNOWN becomes KNOWN.....the Emotion of FEAR dissipates.

A man WHO comes to KNOW the Lord...No LONGER FEARS "HIM".

A man WHO comes to KNOW the Lord, is called a FRIEND of the Lord.

IS what is applicable to that ONE individual ...
Applicable to ALL? No.

Some still DO NOT KNOW God....and should FEAR HIM.

Those who DO KNOW thee Lord....should have NO FEAR of Him.

FEAR application is to Individuals...
The individuals...of what is .....UNKNOWN.....to them.

God Bless,
Taken

Sound doctrine exposes the flesh. Sound doctrine allows the word to do it's work. The word of God created the universe. The word of God is able to transform us into the image of God.

But then there is the ego...the self...that filters out God and makes everything about us as individuals. This corrupts God's ways.

God is not a respecter of persons.

We too often confuse God's mercy for His final judgments.

Imagine 2 cars...both have rust on them...but one is so rusty as to be falling apart. It is TOO rusty to drive. The other car has a little bit of rust, but it can still get around with no problem.

Which car will God seek to fix?

He will choose the one that needs Him the most. He will go after the TOO rusty car. Why? Because God loves mercy. Does God judge the TOO rusty car to be better than the other car? No. God is not respecting the cars that way. He is helping the car that needs Him the most.

When the car that was TOO rusty is refurbished encounters the car with a little rust.....can it say..."look at you... a rusty car...but look at me who has had favour from God. God will send you to the dump...but ME I am His favourite car. I will be in God's garage forever."

So then beforehand God had no favourite car...but now that the newly refurbished car is showing signs of pride...against an innocent (although rusty) car. God will get rid of that car.....and keep the slightly rusty car.

So then favour is deceitful...to the one who can't see God's purpose but judges from himself.

People confuse God's mercy with a preference for one person over another. But that's not how God thinks.

To whom much is given....MORE is required.

What should the attitude be of the once TOO rusty car towards the car with a little rust? Humility. It should acknowledge the driveable condition of the other car....without pride and without judgment.

So then the righteousness of the one who is saved (refurbished) only remains intact in humility....knowing that without mercy from God...there was only death.

So we could say that "All are rusty...none are without rust....no not one"

But a car that only has a little rust can still drive and go places. It doesn't need a garage as much.

But it is the junky cars that need a garage.

Jesus said...I have not come to call the righteous to repentance...but sinners. A person who is whole doesn't need a doctor...but he that is not well.

Don't mistake God's mercy for His favouritism and final judgment....and don't lose the purpose of your calling in Christ. If you judge...you will be judged...and the one you judge will take your place.

God is not a respecter of persons.
What if you judge youself?

So search the scriptures to see if it is true that being in the wilderness is not the place to remain until death, but whether we are meant to come out of it and to a better place He has prepared.
work while it is day; the night is coming, when no man can work. So i agree, that place is the world, and you can go into the wilderness or cross the Sea of Reeds right from your chair imo. Christ has no place to lay His head, right, but we want that place He has prepared to have manicured lawns, trophy wives, and i guess preferably servants too lol
Search the scriptures to see if it is true that remaining and dying in the wilderness is b ecause of God's displeasure at a lack of trust and complaining.
Search the scriptures to see if it is true that remaining and dying in the world is because of God's displeasure at a lack of trust and complaining imo, and lose this definition of wilderness as something to be avoided at all costs

Let's say we go back to the time of Abel.

When his sacrifice was acceptable...the fire from God came down and consumed it.

Now let's come back to our time.

When our sacrifice is accepted by God...His Holy Spirit comes down as a fire upon us and we enter into His grace, life and power. That's how we put on Christ.
