Are you just coming to this conclusion, because Ronaldo lost the Messi vs Ronaldo competition? :p

So @APAK perhaps Messi is more team oriented he has more assists. ;)
Assists is not a reliable indicator of team support in general especially for strikers and those in forward positions.

Many times a forward/striker with the most assists indicates that he/she could not take the shot with a high probability of success. They would love to shoot them all themselves. So instead of looking like a fool with a high probability of scuffing or missing the shot on goal completely, it is wiser for them to pass it to a striker or someone forward in a more menacing position with a higher chance of scoring.

BL. Strikers are generally selfish by design and would not assist anyone in scoring if they could take all the shots themselves and score. Their assists are still considered reluctant assists, so to not look like a fool in front of their fans and team mates.

The forward or striker with the true team spirit is one that is found to run the most around many parts of the field, found assisting all positions of their team when needed. I've seem ringers who score lots of goals and assist others to score, only to find out they are lazy to push back to join the defense when the opposition effectively counter-attacks. Look for Messi to come back quickly in defense, and then compare it with Ronaldo.

@Cristo Rei what do you reckon about last night's GF?

I think Perth did it better than the MCG.

But wow though..... No team would have been able to beat Melbourne last night, 100 points scored in the last Quarter and a half the third quarter. From 40 points up to 140 in a quarter and a half.

I am glad the Lions did not play them in the GF. lolz

Still has a higher goal per game ratio than Ronaldo. ;)

By the end of their careers he might not be, at this rate.
Ronaldo always plays striker now and scores almost every match.
Messi plays in an attacking midfield position and scores every 5th match

I think that may speed up. He is probably still feeling odd not playing for Barca
